Rajah Ampat 2009 Entry Tag Contest Winner
The Winner of the Raja Ampat Entry Tag Contest has been announced. Brazilian photographer Marcio Lisa wins 2009 Raja Ampat Tourism Entry Tag Contest with a silhouette of a manta ray. The image will be printed on the 2009 Raja Ampat Tourism Entry tag series.

Photokina 2008 Coverage
This year is the 13th Photokina show, while the first one was held in 1950. HD-camcorders are getting DSLR-competitors
Today Canon has lifted the secret of the EOS 5D´s successor
and to my great surprise this year's product feature of the Photokina seems to be a DSLR with the ability to capture HD movies. It´s an obvious development after the evolutionary stages sensor-cleaning and live-view in the last years. Canon now has struck back with the EOS 5D Mark II and gained an edge over the recently announced Nikon D90

Nikon D700 housing from Aquatica
Aquatica announced a new housing for the Nikon D700. Although the D700 is very similar to the D300 a new housing design is needed. The new housing is made in the new look of the Aquatica Digital Pro housings, which is painted with a robust weather and wear resistant finish. The housing will be available for 2949 USD.
New housings HDZX1 and HD9 from Sealux
Sealux announced to new housings for HD camcorder. The HDZX1 for the Sony PMW-EX1 and the HD9 for the Sony HDR-HC9. Sealux claims that the HDZX1 housing is the smallest and lightest tailor-made housing available for the Sony HDZX1. The Sealux HDZX1 is available with a flat or a dome port for high optical quality. With the HD9 housing Sealux introduces a new feature for the view-finder. The viewfinder is swung 15% towards the diver to easily use the hosing in the swimming position. The most important functions can be easily accessed from the handles on both housing.

20009 Raja Ampat Entry Tag Design Contest
Our friends from Wetpixel host a yearly design contest for the design of the entry tag for Raja Ampat. The contest will be open for submission till 11:59PM, Pacific Time, Thursday, September 25, 2008. The winner has a chance to have the image printed on the 4,000 park tags that will be attached BCDs of visiting divers! Additionally, the first place winner will receive a 7-day, 6-night, all-inclusive dive trip* to Raja Ampat's original eco-resort at Kri, kindly donated by Papua Diving. (*excludes airfares).
Expedition to Spitsbergen with Sony Alpha 350 and BS Kinetics Gibson
In the midst of summer Karin Brussaard has been out to the far polar region to dive and shoot in ice cold water. She took the Sony Alpha 350 in a BS Kinetics housing with her and reports how this duo performs under the extrem conditions in the waters around Spitsbergen. SEA&SEA announces new strobe
SEA&SEA just announced a new version of the YS110 – the new YS110 Alpha. Keyfeatures are a guide number of 22 (land), and increased beam angle of 105 degrees, a LED Focus Light and – besides a classical Nikonos connector – a improved optical TTL function. More infromation here.
Light & Motion releases SR12 Housing
Light&Motion just presented their new Bluefin housing for the Sony SR11 and SR12 camcorders. This compact housing offers electronic controls, a 3.5" high-resolution monitor back and a port selection. The housing is available from now on.
DIGIDEEP video channel on VIMEO
There is something new for all HD filmers and picture quality freaks – the DIGIDEEP Video Channel on vimeo.com. Thanks to our members "Greg W.", who had the idea and "Christian Fries", who put the channel online. On this chnanel, you can upload videos in higher quality as for exemple on youtube.
