Very Awesome! This camera takes amazing pictures. There are so many settings with this camera. I was very stuck picking a camera at first, then I narrowed it down to either this camera or the Canon SD900. I decided to get this one because it was $80.00 cheaper. It gives a lot of bang for your buck. Also in the continuous shot mode you can take so many pics really quickly. Great Battery life. My grade for this cam is an A!

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I love this camera! I shake when I take pictures and this Easter every picture I took came out perfectly! There are so many options on this camera I am having fun just playing with it to see what all it can do! I would recomend this camera to anyone who is looking for a high quality camera at a good price.
|
Love this cameraJust got this camera a few days ago and i will admit i was hesitant to buy it because of the bad reviews the Z1000 got. My video camera has a built in 4 megapixel camera, but i was not happy with the quaily of the still pictures, so i started looking around for several months. I love the look, and i have taken tons of pictures outside and inside and the quality is excellent! I love the quick burst mode of taking many pictures at the same time. Buy this camera, it is an incredible deal and an awesome camera.

AwesomeThis was an awesome buy! It takes great pictures and is easy to use. It has wonderful features and simply love the compact size.

Great Camera -- Better than my Exilim EX-Z750When my Exilim EX-750 fell in the cooler, it was over. I loved that camera, but couldn't bring myself to get a refurbished one for almost the price of what I paid 15 months prior. So, I "upgraded" to the Exilim EX-Z1050. It's even easier to user than the Z-750. Changing the most used settings is very quick. The LCD is bright outdoors, so even though there is no tiny viewfinder it's not a problem. I highly recommend this camera.
|
Awesome Pictures!I bought this to replace my polaroid izone camera (which was TERRIBLE). You will be amazed at how small this camera is. It fits in the palm of my hand. I love the black color. All of the controls are easy to use after you mess with it for little while. Make sure you buy one with an extra battery, because they take the lithium ion batteries. The battery life seems very good so far. The pictures it takes are very sharp clear and colorful. You wont be disappointed!
|
Great camera !I am definitely an amateur photographer - so for what it's worth, I am very pleased with this camera. Having previously owned the ex-z1000, I can say this camera is a big step up.
I had to buy all the extra cords for transferring pictures for my z1000, but this one came with everything I needed. Also - The battery life is great. Plus - the shutter response time is much quicker than the z1000. You can choose from 7 different picture sizes/pixelation. up to 10 megapixels! The Video camera is pretty sweet, too -- You can zoom in and out during filming. One neat features is the Audio Recording - like a little pocket tape-recorder. The only thing is, my computer doesn't automatically detect the audio files when transferring -- I have to go in and manually select them. (This might just be something with my computer setup, though). All-around, I'm very pleased with this camera! |
NiceThis time, I gat this camera. All compornents is good condition.
Just time I gat it. |
Easy to use but...It's easy to use and certainly a compact size but you give up alot on quality of photo. I was going to sell my Sony Steady Shot but found out that the Z1050 is incapable of sending out a flash beyond 5 foot. I'll keep both cameras: the Z1050 is easy to carry and when I'm shooting pics at a distance indoors I'll just take the Sony.
|
Everything I could want.......I had an Optio S for a couple of years and the flimsy battery door finally broke. This camera is easy to use, take very nice pics and take very decent video also. I find myself no longer lugging a camcorder with me! I am no pro, but I take a lot of pics. Nice LCD and simple controls. Really enjoy this camera.
|
Great little cameraI've had this camera about a week now and I love it. I wanted a camera I could have with me all the time and just slip in my pocket and better than a phone camera. This Casio Exilim fills the bill! Easy to operate and great pictures! I am very satisfied!
|
THIS CAMERA IS ALL THAT........I am in love with this little camera. The price is great and arrived in its original box. It is very easy to use, and I love the quality of the pictures I have taken with it. The best shot & all the features are great. Make sure you get the leather case EX-CASE 1 for your baby. It fits great in it. You will just be so happy with its size. I also recommend the 2GB Transcend 150x high speed memory card so you can take quality movies and it's at a GREAT price right here on Amazon. I also ordered an extra battery Equivalent NP-40 for the EX-Z1050 new at a SUPER price. Battery life is great. You may not need the extra battery, but it's nice to have one just in case. Also, great software and accessories comes with. If could give this product 10 stars I would. I am one happy customer!
|
All around SWEET!This camera is sleek, small, easy, fast, clean pictures, smooth quality of features, what more could I say, I want to marry it. Don't pass this up for people who travel, hike, or out on the town, it will go everywhere with you, like I said, I want to marry it.

A USER FRIENDLY CAMERATHIS ITEM WAS GIVEN TO MY WIFE JUST BEFORE LEAVING TO VISIT OUR DAUGHTER & HER FAMILY IN HAWAII. MANY GREAT PHOTOS & SHORT VIDEOS WERE TAKEN. SHE NOW HAS A NEW HOBBY. THANKS FOR A VERY GOOD DIGITAL CAMERA.
|
GREAT Camera!!!I love this camera. I have had it for a little over a month now. I don't have a single complaint. The pictures turn out so clear. The videos do as well. It's so small it fits in any purse. It's easy to navigate through the options. I think the best picture option is fantastic. I can't say enough good stuff about it.
|
Goodthere was delay to receive the order because I appear confusion in the shipment
|
not satisfiedi was expecting more with this camera, but disappointed
The quality is nice when u r taking indoor closeup pics some how the pics getting blured. very difficult to find the modes , no proper guide . but easy to use very handy. need one month R&D i think . |
For the price excellentI have a Canon 10d with 3 lenses and the z1050 was replacing a broken olympus c-50. The z1050 is extremely easy to use and produces excellent results. The menu system is probably the best I have seen in cameras.
I still prefer my 10d because of the lense range that I have - 15mm to 300mm. Also for low light conditions (not using the flash)I have found some blurred results on the z1050 which I suspect is due to the 1 hand holding vs the two hands pressed against face holding on an slr. For a price of under $300 I feel it is a tremendous camera. |
Awesome CameraThis is the best camera I have ever owned. Easy to use, lightweight, durable, and the list goes on. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made and I am thinking of getting one for my mom.
|
ExilimGreat compact camera. Picture quality is good for most locations. Low lighting conditions produce dark pictures. Otherwise is great.
|
Great super-compactI have a Casio EX-Z750 which I like a lot. Unfortunately, it suffers from the lens error which is common to this model. I also have a DSLR and compact zoom, but the little Casio always went with me and became a favorite. Choosing a replacement compact was a quite a task. I was disappointed in Casio for the lack of stepping up to the lens issue (which is widespread) in the 750, but my other favorite, Olympus, just didn't have as good an image quality as the current Casios.
When it came down to it, I just liked this Casio better than the others and I have not been disappointed. The image quality and ease of use is right up there, I'm very happy with the camera overall. I don't really miss the viewfinder, I rarely used it anyway and the LCD on this camera is much more visible in sunlight - I'm very pleased! The mode dial is also gone, there is a menu on the screen side instead. It's only slighly more difficult to use than the dial. Finally, I do miss the dock. I would much rather drop the camera in it to charge and connect to the PC than to connect a plug for the USB and remove the battery to put it in a charger. This was definitely a con, but it's something I decided I could live with before I got the camera. Overall, I think this is a great replacement for the slightly older EX-Z750 and it's a great little camera to have with me all the time. |
Casio skimped on workmanship & quality! Stick with the EX-Z1000.I have never written a review before but I felt so compelled to warn everybody about this camera as compared to it's predecessor the EX-Z1000. They are essentially the exact same camera but with 2 very key differences. The first difference is that the EX-Z1000 is an all metal encased camera. This was one of Casio's key advantages over it's competitors. I was severely disappointed to find that the EX-Z1050 is all plastic with the exception of a narrow metal band around the frame. I guess Casio decided it would be cheaper to make the camera out of plastic, but I'd rather pay a few more dollars for the solid feel of the metal camera. The weight difference is totally negligible too.
The second key difference is in the LCD monitor. The EX-Z1050 has a slighly smaller screen which is not the biggest deal, BUT...and this is a BIG BUT...they've chopped the screen resolution in half!!! I compared the two models side by side and there's NO COMPARISON. It's like the difference between a projector TV and a high definition TV. The images always seem blury on the EX-Z1050's LCD. With the EX-Z1000 you can tell whether or not your photo is in focus without having to take a 2nd snapshot. Don't get me wrong, the EX-Z1050 still a great camera, but get your hands on the previous EX-Z1000 model while you still can. You may have to pay a few extra bucks, but that's because all the pro-sellers know the EX-Z1000 is the better quality model. All I can say is that I hope Casio goes back to the high standards exhibited by their earlier models. |
A Very Good CameraI have had the camera for a couple of weeks now. I am still becoming more familiar with the features, but so far - I am very pleased with it. It is very easy to use. The pictures are sharp. I will give it a real test when I go on vacation.
|
Great Camera!!!After extensive research and comparisons against other similar cameras by other manufacturers, I bought this camera for adventure and as a takealong when it is not practical to take my Digital SLR. I am extremely impressed with the quality of the images and the ease of use of the interface. Compared against the top-of-the-line Elph models, I decided on the Casio because it was easier to hold and operate, was an excellent price for 10.1MP, a decent zoom range created a great feature package. Also, the picture modes give 30 or so options that make up for the lack of manual features (how can you use those anyways with a point and shoot?). Recently, on a trip to the Grand Canyon, wide angle shots of the scenery were as spectacular as close-ups!! (Of course, my skill in composition didn't hurt either :-)) Also, one other important thing, the shutter speed is quicker than the other cameras that I tested so you don't end up with blurred or missed shots when an animal, friends, or 8 month olds decide to move around! Hope this helps.

Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 10.1 MP Digital CameraWe received the camera over a week ago and like the camera so far. The main think lacking was that the included instruction booklet was way too brief and didn't include how to use most of the features with the camera. It was written in many languages be only included a few pages of very basic features in English. The rest of the features are only online or perhaps in the included CD.
|
I Love it!!I also did a lot of research and "playing" with other models prior to purchasing this camera. Many gave me fuzzy pictures but not the Exilim. I can take a picture of anything (even moving) and it comes out Clear - easy to use (even if you don't read directions) I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for personal camera - you get your moneys worth.
|
Oh what a JOY!!!!!!!!I did a lot of research before I purchase this camera and every good thing that has been written about this camera is very true. I LOVE this camera. It is easy to use, the pictures are great and the price was the best price in town. You won't be disappointed.

Snap on the spot - great for taking kids picturesA friend of mine suggested Casio's Exilim series of cameras base on the following reasons:
i. compact ii. 10.1MP iii. takes a picture w/ minimal delay between pushing the button and the camera actually taking the shot The older digital cameras and some existing ones too have a split second delay between when you push the button and when the camera actually captures the shot. This can be annoying when most of your pictures are with people already looking away assuming you had already taken the pictures. However, w/ Exilim EX-Z1050, this is not a problem. We have an 18 month old daugther that is always on the move, so we literally have split seconds to capture the shots we want. EX-Z1050 allows us to do so with ease. Great value especially for the 10.1MP camera. Hightly recommended. |
Great camera1st new digital camera in over 6 years. All I can is wow. Great pics, fast shutter speed, good menus, 7 frames/second capability, lots of power on/save setting options. Video capability is really good too. It won't replace a video camera but to grab some quick videos at a party it's awesome.
|
greatGreat camera. It is small and the battery lasted for almost three weeks with every day use. I took nearly 300 pictures during that time. Easy to use with some features that I have know idea what they do
|
Good point and shootThis camera is a great little point and shoot for your backpack or car or something. I've been using it and the pictures are great. The only areas where I've noticed some weirdness have to be in semi-macro shots where you are getting pretty close to something. This one isn't for serious photographers but is great when you want to take some great snapshots.
|
Nice Camera Great Video Great Pics but lacking old featuresI like this camera it has many improvements since my old Z57. I bought this simply based on the great reviews on amazon. This takes great video at 640x480, the pictures look great. I am pleased with the new features. I mainly bought a Casio because of the coupling feature on the camera and they took that feature shot off and replaced with other shots such as underwater & autumn which are useless to me. Taking pictures will not be fun without my coupling feature. = (
|
Very Disappointed!!!Prior to purchasing he Elixim ex-z1050, I did extensive research on various cameras and decided on the casio because of it's size, 10mp, and the best shot feature. I purchased this camera to replace my old sony DSC-V1, which took amazing pictures. My husband wanted a camera that was more compact/pocket sized. We just got back from a vacation in Las Vegas. The pictures that were taken during the day were GREAT!! The pictures taken at night using the best shot feature were TERRIBLE!! The night pictures were very blurry. I took it in to a camera shop in Vegas and they told me to disregard the best shot feature and use the standard setting. This helped reduce the blurriness, but took away from the color of the photo. This camera is useless to me! I will be returning it! When I first had trouble with the camera I thought that maybe I had purchased a defective camera. I spoke with a friend who recently received an elixim (different model) as a gift and had the same problem when she was used the best shot feature at night.
|
I am very pleased with this cameraI wanted a pocket-sized camera that I could carry with me. The EXZ1050 is small and compact. It fits easily in the palm of your hand or in a front pants pocket.
The LCD screen is huge and all the settings are easy to see and understand. The button labeled "BS" is for "Best Shot." The battery lasts forever. It has dozens of settings or you can just shoot pictures in the PhD (push here dummy) mode. The pictures are sharp, and the color rendition is accurate. I was pleased with the quality of the video. The camera comes with a built-in memory of about 20 MB, enough for about 20 small pictures or a video less than ten seconds long. I bought a 2 GIG memory card for $25. Buy a case for the camera. My cat knocked the camera in its case from a shelf four feet high to the floor...no harm done. Don't install the CD. You can transfer images from your camera with the USB cord provided or buy a card reader. The card reader is much faster. A complete instruction manual in PDF format is available at: http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_manual/qv/en/EXZ1050_DI_e.pdf |
"Family Friendly" digi-cami love this camera, just right for the family, compact enough to just slip into my purse and pull out for foto opps with the kids and my cooking, i will post some pictures, take a look
|
Pretty Good ValueI bought this camera for my wife to replace one that was lost. She loves it, telling me that it is the best to meet her needs. I would summarize that as: small, easy to carry, takes fast pictures, high resolution, and a no-brainer overall. She also loves the pink version.
|
Very Nice CameraI am very pleased with this camera. I read all the reviews for this camera before buying and it has lived up to them. It is very easy to use and the pictures are fantastic.
|
Quality and performanceI bought this camera (EX-Z1050) four months ago to replace a Canon Power Shot, which I loved. I debated about the 7mp versus the 10mp for a while, because the size of the 10mp was about twice as thick. I went to a retail store to play with them and ultimately chose the 10mp model. Here's what I found out after over 3000 pictures and videos (I'm a big picture guy with a toddler around)-
SUPER FAST STARTUP - about one second AMAZING BATTERY LIFE - this camera exceeded all my expectations in this category. In fact I am still amazed by it. I do not take very many flash pictures, but I take a lot of video. I get about 800 pictures or 1 hour 20 minutes of continuous video before it dies. SDHC FORMAT - this camera does not take regular SD cards, so you need an SDHC card for it. It is a completely different architecture than SD, but the capacity is huge, starting at 4GB. This new format does not work in regular SD card readers, so I bought a $13 SDHC card reader because I hate messing around with camera cables. EXCELLENT VIDEO - This camera has the same video quality and frames per second as my $1200 JVC Everio GZ-MC200. The videos are taken in MPEG 4 and there is no need to convert the files, so they can be opened and played in standard windows media player. EASY CONTROLS - Well designed controls and easy user interface FAST - This camera is ready for another shot in ONE second and has a multiple shot mode that takes about 5 shots per second. Turning off or lowering the review mode will get you up and running even faster after a shot. GREAT LCD - Great 2.7" screen, very bright in direct sunlight. I have it on highest brightness/ contrast and the battery life is still amazing. BEST SHOT MODES - Very convenient, I did not think I would ever use these, but I find myself always using them. These modes automatically adjust the white balance and color saturation for a given situation like Portrait, Bright Sun, Fluorescent, ETC. They are very easy to select and use and work well. PHOTO SOFTWARE STINKS - The included photo software "hot photo" stinks. It loads into your tray, is always running in the background and sucks up your system resources. The usability is poor at best and any other photo software would be better. You do not need this software to use the camera. IMAGE STABILIZATION - In my opinion the camera takes better photos with image stabilization off. I noticed a lot of noise in the blacks under high zoom in Photoshop when I had the Image Stabilization on. I took two sample shots from tripod with timer one with and one without to confirm my initial noise observation. It seems that noise and pixelization are apparent with Stabilization, but very clear sharp pictures without it. Bottom line is there is no substitute for a steady hand, so practice with the camera. BOTTOM LINE - Get this camera. It's cheap for about $200 and with an 8 GB HDSC card, card reader and case plus tax; you will get away with the whole package for about $300 bucks. Image quality is super in a very compact and user friendly package. |
GreatThe camera is great! I went on a cruise and was gone for 15 days, and didn't even have to charge the battery once!!! The battery lasts very long, and the camera takes great pictures
|
great cameraalthough this camera is larger than it seemed in the picture, i love it! its pink and really cute. i get so many comments on it and the awesome pictures it takes. the focus is okay, but hey, its a digital, what can you expect!?
|
LensMy wife and I are just back from a trip to Norway, took over 700 pictures with this camera. My wife used last years model. My conclusion is that the EX-Z1050 is markedly easier to use in terms of access to menu as well as larger space for framing the picture. Interestingly, however, the images on my wife's camera were clearly superior to this EX-Z1050. I suspect that to hold the price down Casio downgraded the quality of the lens. Since anti-shake feature will marginally degrade the quality of the image I double checked and both our cameras had the feature turned on.
|
Very ConvenientPurchased this in Malaysia for $450. I own a D200 and was getting tired of carrying the heavy SLR and the lenses on my trips. I missed quite a bit of shots because of the bulky nature of SLR. This camera is very slim and fits in your shirt pocket. I always carry this camera with me. I wish this had a viewfinder. It is a bit difficult to use only the LCD screen for composing shots. The 4 star is just for the missing viewfinder, else I would have given it 5 stars.
|
Excellent Camera for a great priceThis compact camera is small enough to fit in your pocket and is convenient to take anywhere. The anti-shake option works well and the quality of the pictures is very good, especially outdoor shots. The battery life is by far the best I have ever experienced with a digital camera. The number of features and quality of pictures is excellent for the price. The only feature that I have not located is Red Eye Reduction. I definitely recommend this camera.
|
Excellent battery! Beautiful Pics!Great battery life- It is recharging (only down side is you must take it out of the camera and reset the time and date when you reinsert it to the camera). I have charged it only twice in 2 months- and I take TONS of pictures!
It's 10 MP, and the picture quality is wonderful. no graininess. Anti-shake- it's only OK, not as great as my former camera. But, the battery life more than makes up for it. Plus, it takes an SD card, which is easier to find, and I got a 4 GB one, so I take videos, which turn out AMAZINGly!! (good mic pick up, good pic quality) Hope this helps you. |
Mine was terribleI wanted to upgrade from my Canon 2mp camera so I tried the Exilim. Maybe mine was defective because the pictures were terrible, many out of focus and the color was not very sharp. Surprisingly though it did take very good video, but the pictures weren't worth keeping.
|

Not as good as My Exilim EX-Z3I have an EX-Z3 3.2 Megapixel Casio that I have absolutely loved over the past 4 years or so and it has take great pictures inside with the flash and outside. The quality of the pics are incredible, and it was largely the reason I bought my new EX-Z1050. So far, I am disappointed. The pics are not as clear and crisp. I am using the dafault settings, and admit that it may be corrected if I read the manual in depth and adjust the settings, but that in itself is disappointing, since the EX-Z3 seemed like perfection out of the box. I have also read that the flash is weak, so that might be the reason, but I think for most people, this will be 75% of where they use this camera (inside). I will keep trying , but I am back to using the old EX-Z3 instead of the new EX-Z1050. Plus, I got used to the old charging method and hate that I have to take the battery pack out to charge it. If my experience gets better, I'll write an update.

Great Pocket/Purse cameraJust got the camera, and I luv it! It's a great lil camera to carry wherever you go. I have a kodak Z740 and I wanted something smaller easy to travel with. Takes excellent pictures. Zoom is okay could be better.
Had trouble w/the 2 day shipping thru DHL !! |
Awesome!!This camera has most incredible zoom feature and takes amazing pictures! The quality is the best I've ever seen in a digital, even while zooming. Very easy to navigate and a great size too. I definetly recommend this product for anyone looking to buy an excellent camera.
|
Pleasantly SurprisedI gave in and purchased this camera even though I'm a stickler for Cannon's and Nikkon's. I read the good reviews on Amazon and decided to go for it. For $200 you get 10.1 megapixels! No one...is offering the same thing for this amount of money. It almost makes me think Casio's pricing department made a huge mistake! I got this camera the first weekend of August and I've taken almost 300 pictures and I still have a full battery! My old camera pooped out after an hour or so. This digital camera puts my old one to shame and now I'm kinda glad it broke. I've taken pictures at a concert, a football game and from a hot air balloon ride. The color is amazing as well as the ease of use. You dont' get a very detailed user's manual, but it's not rocket science.
|
Great digital camera!I bought this camera to replace my older 5MP Kodak Easyshare. It's compact enough to easily carry in my purse. But best of all is that it takes great pics! I did a lot of research before buying it. It has almost identical features to the Canon Powershot but the price is quite a bit cheaper. I've had no problems with it at all and would highly recommend it to anyone. In fact, I bought one for my daughter along with her sister, as a Christmas gift. After seeing how well it worked and the nice pictures it took, I was sold.

Great point and Shoot CamaraThis is a camara for the everyday user, is fast and great picture quality, the quality in the LCD is not 100% in quality, but the downloaded image is neer perfect.
the size is perfect for carry around and the battery life is great. I recomend this item to anyone searching for a point and shoot camara |
Casio CameraThe Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 10.1MP Digital Camera is a very compact, easy to use camera. It is a great point and shoot camera. The picture quality is beautiful. The camera fits into your pocketbook, pocket, or comes with a wristband. The only negative thing I would point out about this camera, is that it does not have an eyepiece for viewing. You use the screen to view, and at times, the sun's glare makes it almost impossible to see what you are shooting. Practice before you go on vacation taking pictures. If you are like me, and have never taken pictures without an eyepiece to look through, you need to practice (I was cutting off heads, etc.). This is a great camera for amateurs who love carrying a camera around to take pictures of their families.
|
Good CameraI really like the camera it is one of the best I had so far. The pictures look sharper and clearer. The only thing that I don't like is the pictures it takes at night they don't come out clear; however,I haven't found a digital camera that takes good night pictures yet so that's why I took away only 1 star. Overall, love the camera and it is a good buy.
|
Small in size but big featuresI currently have a silver one of these and a 7.2megapixel Casio as well.
Huge rear screen is a bonus and for those out there that hate puttons etc all over the camera, this is the one. You can go deep into the menu structure or just stay on top and shoot all you like. This is a go anywhere type of camera and is robust enough to be used by the kids if. I would like to have it have a longer exposure time as I sometimes like to take long exposure night shats but that is life. I use the 7.2 for that. the flash is bright enough for a normal size room. and the antishake is great. I can see it won't be long before a touch screen is added to the back instead of buttons, for furute models. Overall a great little camera with great big features and capabilities. |
Casio Exilim EX-Z1050I have had absolutely no problems with this camera. Long battery life, great pictures! It's small enough that it fits comfortably in my pocket, yet it has a large LCD screen making pictures a quick task. I am satisfied with this digital camera, I would recommend this camera to anyone. It may be a bit on the pricey side, but I have yet to regret buying the camera. At the rate this camera is going, I doubt I will!

the war for moreTechnological progress, unfortunately, is not always driven by sound principals. "More" has taken over as a main goal of life... where as quality and simplicity might be of higher long term value. What about people who just want a cell phone to talk? Talk?? Oh, right, say the developers, we forgot... too busy adding bells and whistles... but I digress. The exilim series is a GOOD one from casio. It's best feature is it's weight and size IF that's important to you -- is to me in this case. The pix are as good as most cameras that size, the sexy black is a show stopper, but 1o pixels??? How much is too much? You won't be disappointed with this camera.
|
Great Camera for the money..I really enjoy the quick and easy controls that this camera provides. Great picture resolution for the money..I am happy with my purcghase.
|
Fabulous Camera -- Best of ClassThis is an excellent camera. Lots of easy to use features, like different levels of flash brightness. Never a blur, has antishake, great lens, and only great pictures (with enough pixels so I can correct my mistakes). Best camera that I've ever used. Movie feature easy. Wish it supported an external flash, but only the really expensive cameras do that. Surprised that it is not well known.

no goBought this digital camera a few days ago. Worked great for the first week. By that time I had thrown out the box, pachaging and info as to who I actually bought this from. Then two buttons stopped working. Can't seem to get them to work. Now I have no idea where it came from and who to send it back to. Amazon doesn't actually sell these things, they pass it off to a third party.
Also, the shutter button has a delay. I took the first 40 pictures of the back of my dog's head because by the time the shutter actually engages teh subject has moved. Use this camera only for taking pictures of a mountain or something. The memory that is in the camera is about enough for 5 photos, so you need to buy a memory card as well. The memory cards are on the sales page, but I didn't get an idea if I needed one, till it showed up. Not sure what I am going to do with this broken camera. Sure don't want to buy one from Amazon again. |
Very good CameraPros: 1)Excellent pictures
2)Very high quality and lot of exposure options 3)sleek and very light 4)very short duration between the pictures Cons: 1)Bad display...but the pictures look good on your computer 2)The door for the battery and the external memory is fragile, must be careful Over all, I thought I would give a 4/5 but somehow I feel if you ignore some faults, I give it 5/5..... |
Late PresentGreat Product. Did not have stock. I got camera case and memory card before camera.
|
Poor Instructions...Poor customer serviceI wish I would have returned this awful camera!!!!Customer Service is terrible....the manual stinks....the camera is not what all these folks say it is cracked up to be....total waste of money.
|
Just excellentAll the posts before me have said everything already. Just wanna say that it is excellent! I espcially love the different settings which makes it so much easier to take different kinds of photos. And the batery IS very long lasting. Definitely worth every penny :)
|
Casio ElixmThe camera is excellent, maybe not as feature packed as some of the other models, but exactly what I was looking for. It's easy to use and very fast. Beach Camera was very quick in getting to me, two days coast to coast.
|
OK but falls short - returned mineThis camera is ok, but not worth it. 1st off 10 mega pixles is useless unless you're printing posters, so don't buy into that hype. The camera takes forever to cycle so you wind up missing shots. The night shooting isn't that great, and quite grainy. It is compact and the best shot function is neat but useless in my book, particularly b/c in night shot mode, all my shots were either dark, blurry, or grainy...so it didn't make much of a difference. I just felt that the shots (the good ones) just weren't sharp enough so that's why I'm returning it. Additionally, the buttons aren't ergonomically placed...my fingers keep fumbling over them and it's heard to zoom in and out at times. One positive note is that the movie camera mode is very good.
|
Nice cam with only 2 bad things:the battery charging process and, even worse, the screen with lower than expected performances from a cam of this range. Overall, I would suggest it but get a 4GB card so that you can take many pics at the maximum resolution. No reason to get a 10.1 MP camera and take pics at lower resolutions to save space even if sooner or later you will want to compress the pics to send\store unless you want to print them on an A2 or zoom in enough to see the nose hair.
|
Love it!Still need to read the book. This camera has several features that require a little practice. The pictures are amazing. I was able to take a picture of the flickering scoreboard at my brother's bowling match without distortion. Large view screen. Great portable camera.
|
Top product and fast deliveryThe product is perfect if you want to create spontaneous snapshots. If you want to create high quality pictures, I would prefer a different camera.
Taking pictures in an environment with less light is not so good as pictures have less sharpness. |
Excellent camera!!! Highly recommendedI own this camera since a few months back and I cant say more than positive things about it. I love the controls the fast shooter. Pictures come out clear and sharp. What I like most is the BEST PICTURE mode or ways of selecting your setting for the pciture. Makes it so much easier than other cameras, and much more difficult for setting to get changed by mistake. I also like the way the iSO can be changed with just a few clicks....
Highly recommended product! |
Dont bother with this cameraI bought this camera about 8 months ago for the 10MP quality and the size of the camera. I also had a new baby and figured this would be great to take those precious moments while he grew up. I figured that at 10MP the pictures should be crystal clear. I have been quickly finding out that most of the pictures you take with this camera are always blurry for some reason. There doesnt seem to be an easy way of taking clear pictures unless abslutely nothing is moving in the picture. Even with the anti-shake on and custom picture settings, you can not get a clear picture 6 out of 10 times trying. I am now looking to go back to my Sony cybershot since it seemed to provide better picture quality than this.

Great Camera for beginners and advanced alikeIn my search for a new digital camera, I took a long time deciding which one to buy. I had a bad experience with my first digital camera, an HP, and I wanted a new one that was great quality with long battery life. I found that and more in the Casio EX-Z1050.
First of all, it is a 10.1 megapixel camera. It takes great pictures. Secondly, it's small enough to fit in my pocket, so I don't have to haul around a big camera. I always just stick it in my pocket when I go out, so I never miss a photo op. Third, the battery lasts long, and it comes with a charger so you can recharge it. No more buying hundreds of AA batteries for your camera. I'm actually quite impressed with how long it lasts, I can usually fill up my memory card before it runs out. It's not fragile, either. I mean, of course you want to be careful with any electronics, but you'd be surprised at how much this little camera can take. It accidentally fell out of my sweatshirt pocket onto concrete one time, and it barely had a few scratches on it. It has also been dropped in the snow, and no harm was done after wiping it off. I'd recommend taking a bit better care of your new camera, but at least you know it's somewhat sturdy. Overall, it's the perfect camera for me, and I will be using it for years to come. It's not too hard to figure out, so I'd recommend it for just about anyone. |
Memory card disappointmentReviewers have mentioned that you can use an 8GB card with this exilim. You can't. The maximum is 4GB. I just purchased this with an 8GB card, and it deleted more than half of my pictures upon first upload with no warning. When I called Casio, they told me that it only supports a 4GB card, and that they only support Toshiba, Panasonic, and Sandisk, not Kingston. Very disappointing. I wouldn't mind if they had mentioned it prominently on their site, or in the description. Perhaps they do somewhere, but it seems like an important fact that should be prominently displayed. Customer service did nothing to help. Next time, I'm going back to Canon. |
Dropped at 40 MPH -- Without a Scratch!I purchased this camera some time ago and have been impressed with it from day one.
This is one tough Casio. This past week it came down with me to Key West, Florida.... where it was dropped without a case, onto the street at 40 MPH. When we got back to retrieve the dropped camera, it was in perfect condition. There is no scratch on the screen. It works flawlessly. The only damage is a tiny scuff on the corner. I'm sold and my next digital camera will be another Casio Exilim. |
Awesome camera!I got this camera for a christmas present and it's great! It's small enough that I can carry it in my pocket but I did get a carrying case for it to keep it pretty and unscratched. The pictures that it takes are awesome and it has more settings then I know what to do with.
|
Bad ServiceThe camera I was sent was not new as advertised. I returned it and was supposed to receive a new camera as promised. Never got because Adorama Camera said that model had been discontinued. Finally got my money back but am not happy with the way I was treated.

Great little feature packed Digital CameraI have been using Casio Exilim 10.1 mega pixel cameras since they were first available.
Great photos with lots of built features and controls to get the best shots you can compose. |
Nice camera for snapshotsThis camera is very compact & takes very nice snapshots but has a few problems. The camera takes SD & SDHC memory cards. If you are going to shoot at 10 megapixels or near that so you can have high quality when cropping or blowing up images to a very large size (11 X 14 to poster size) you'll probably want to get a 4 or 8 gig SDHC card to use with this camera. Amazon has an 8 gig SDHC card on sale for less than 50 bucks right now (search for it)... The only way to frame the shots with this camera is by utilizing the large LCD screen on the rear of the camera. Unfortunately it is not as clear & sharp as other casio LCD screens though it's ok for most purposes. It also has a tendency to washout on a sunny day making it hard to see & frame a picture. For a better, sharper, clearer LCD screen you can see in bright daylight get the newer, slimmer, slightly lighter 10 mp Casio EX - S10 for around two hundred twenty five bucks. If you want to shoot fairly high quality video you won't get it with this model. This model shots .avi video ar 24 frames per second which looks blurry & somewhat choppy. The newer slimmer Casio's including the EX-S10 will shoot higher quality mp4 video at 30 fps. At the ultra high quality video setting the video looks really nice even to watch on a TV monitor or transfer to DVD using Nero Vision or similar. You can leave your larger digital video camera home except for super special occasions! The newer models also allow the higher quality video to be shot in widescreen if you prefer that look or for widescreen monitors! The newer models like the EX-S10 also have a seprate YouTube video mode so you can shoot small vids tailored to upload to YouTube quickly & easily! This camera also has a very small weak flash which is great for taking most snapshot length photos indoors but nothing further. It has a great battery life but so do all the compact Casio's including the slimmer, newer ones. For the reasons outlined do not make the mistake I made & get this model Casio if you want an ultra compact camera. Get instead the Casio EX -S10 which is slimmer, lighter, has a better viewfinder & takes higher quality video at Ultra High Quality mode & has a special YouTube video mode if you want to post vids on YouTube quickly & easily for around $225.00...

Very nice....My first digital camera was Canon and needed replacement. So I bought Exilim EX-Z1050 since I needed something better than 4 mega-pixel. I have used mine for almost a year now and I love it. It's in my purse everyday for that special moment and the battery life is amazing. I had to charge my Canon Elf very often but I could almost forget about recharging with this Exilim. Also, video is also great. Very easy to use and light for everyday use. Great everyday use camera.

Great ability in a tiny packageAfter using this camera on a couple of trips, and now being familiar with its features, I have to say I'm very happy with it. I purchased this after I lost my older Exilim camera, and this smaller, lighter version is much easier to use.
As with any ultracompact camera, don't expect the kind of photography you'd get from a digital SLR, or a dedicated video recorder. However, the quality of the pics & video is excellent, seeing as it's coming from such a small package. The only reason this is 4 and not 5 stars, is because of the inability to set advanced settings for each shot. You have to select pre-set modes (like "Party", "Sports", or "Scenic") to get the right shutter speed or light sensitivity that you want. This can be frustrating until you familiarize yourself with the different modes available. Once you know your camera, though, it is enjoyable to use. This camera's best for casual to intermediate photography, which is what I do. |
Good camera but bewareBought for my wife who is a heavy camera user. After about a year of use, the lens has hung and won't retract. Seems to be a common failure mode for the unit.
Does take good pictures and videos. Just don't expect it to survive more that a year of so if you are a moderate to heavy user. |
Warning to Exilim owners!! READ ON...I had my camer for about a year. It went to Hawaii twice with me and I thought it was the best 400 dollars I had spent!
Little did I know that these cameras are.. well, defective. Suddenly one day, my zoom wouldn't work. Then I realized my menu buttons didn't work. THEN I realized that the only button that DID work was the button to take a picture (which it still does). After doing more intense research, I found out that A LOT of people were having the SAME problem. I called Casio and they wanted a ridiculous amout to just look at it, let alone FIX IT! So the deal is, these cameras have one cord that controlls most of the functions such as the menu and zoom buttons. If that cord gets rattled a little, it no longer works. SO you will then be stuck with a 10.1 MP basically disposable camera (as they can not zoom or adjust settings either). However, I must say that my next camera WILL be a Casio, but this particular model.... I'm not too sure. Hope my review helps. |
An Excellent (Exilim) CameraFor its price, this is a OK camera. What brings my rating up is the huge selection of shooting modes, the video editing, the audio, and several other features. First off: The shooting modes. This camera is a classic Casio in that it has many shooting modes (Best Shot). It has a setting for low light (candles), for fireworks, for flowers (close-up/macro), for pets, for portraits, for eBay, and many other things. The video editing is an innovative feature that allows you to cut the middle, beginning or end of ANY video more than about 5 seconds long. The audio clips are also a great thing to have (although I can't compare this to other cameras). Other good things are high-speed shutter mode that allows you to hold down the button to take several pictures per second; this lets you get the perfect picture of a basketball dunk or of your pet. The camera can also record a clip of sound to accompany a picture when you look at it. Additionally, you can zoom in 8x (without getting grainy) on any picture you have taken. It also, of course, has a timer so you can include everyone in the picture. The only thing I think this camera is missing is the ability to hold the shutter open to take pictures of cars' lights as they move. Lastly, I would think twice before purchasing this particular camera, as Casio recently came out with a camera that functions the same and has 10.1 MP, but is half as thick (and has a youtube shooting mode).

Not Great.I have owned the Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 for a long while now, and am not really satisfied. I'll list the pros and cons below:
Pros: It looks nice. (The outward appearance is very stylish and smart looking) It has a large screen. It takes decent movies. The rechargeable battery is pretty easy to recharge. Cons: The pictures are blurry. My husband and I have both messed with the settings constantly to try to make the pictures not blurry. With a tripod, this camera works fine, but almost anytime you are holding it they turn out blurry. The manual doesn't tell you anything about this camera... NOTHING. Auto shake on/off doesn't work (...again blurry pictures) I can't even figure out (and believe me I have tried) to adjust aperture or shutter speed. The only thing it lets me change is ISO. Lame. There is delay between when you press the button and the camera takes the picture. (Fine for nature photography, but really bad for people or pets) All in all this camera is o.k. Like i said before, I have owned it for a long time and it is still working, so that is good. I take good care of it, and it seems to be alright. One of the reasons I bought it in the first place was because I saw that it had 10.1 mega pixels, but so you don't make the same mistake I made, it turns out that that just basically means it takes very, very large poster size pictures. (You can change the setting to take smaller ones, though) The quality isn't any better because of it. I thought 10.1 mega pixels = better pictures. Nope.(Unless you plan on blowing all your pictures up to an enormous size.) Overall, I would not recommend this camera to family and friends. |
blurry pictures, or just me?My boyfriend bought this camera for me for my birthday a few months ago because I love the color pink. I also have a Canon Powershot SD400 that works perfectly, but it has been marked and scratched from using it so much over the past 2 years. As a big pictures girl, I decided that having 2 cameras couldn't be bad! But, I am very disappointed with the Casio. It's supercute, but I find myself using my Canon MUCH more because the pictures turn out much better. Almost all of my pictures with the Casio are blurry - even if I hold the camera super-steady for set it on a flat surface and use the self-timer. I have played around with the settings, and High Sensitivity seems to produce the best shots, but not even comparable to the pictures I get with my Canon. As previous reviews have stated, the Casio manual is vague and pretty much useless... am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be helpful, because I know my boyfriend paid a pretty penny for this camera, and it's definitely not getting its worth just sitting on my desk...

Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 10.1MP Digital CameraI have been looking for a 10 MP digital camera for a while. A month ago I decided to go to Amazon.com to check what cameras they got. I was looking for a digital camera that I can aim & shoot! This camera does that and more! The pictures are gorgeous!! I am glad I got this one! It's very easy to use specially if you are not familiarize with digital cameras. I had taken pictures with no background light and they had come out awesome! This is a a nice digital camera & the price is even better! This is a great buy!
