Sweet camera, not so impressed with the delivery
Great camera, lots of great features and very easy to use. The delivery by USPS left a lot to be desired though, the package was left on the doorstep by the street because it wouldnt fit through the letterbox, even though the apartment management building was just next door. Shoddy shoddy work guys!

Super Everyday Camera!
I purchased this camera for everyday use, instead of lugging around my bulky Fuji FinePix S7000. This camera is super! Very easy to use! Super quality photos! I would recommend to anyone just getting into digital photography and for digital "pros" that need a small camera.

A great little camera
This little camera is a full featured powerhouse. Not only does it have a higher optical zoom than other similar cameras, it has a good quality feel, huge LCD screen and video with sound. The menus are easy to navigate and don't need much fiddling with in the first place for most users. Included is a nice charging and download cradle that keeps the camera fully charged and ready to use at short notice.
I'm a big fan of these small cameras because they slide inconspicuously in your pocket and can be taken anywhere - it's smaller than a deck of playing cards. You can't say this about most digital cameras.
I would give it five stars, but one feature I purchased it for has some shortcomings. This camera, like some other Fuji brand cameras - is supposed to be able to double as a PC webcam. The set up for this camera to be used this way is not easy, and once I set it up on my new Dell XP Pro PC, it continuously crashed the system and never worked. My previous Fuji camera (the A310) had none of these problems.

Great Camera! Plus value for money
DC Resource reviews the Fujifilm Finepix F440 and writes - 'The Fuji FinePix F440 is a fun and compact point-and-shoot camera that has some features that set it apart from the pack. Despite its compact size, the F440 has a 3.4X optical zoom -- a nice change from the usual 3X. The second nice feature is the larger-than-normal 2 inch LCD display, which also happens to be bright, sharp, and fluid.'
I found all the above to be true and found more great stuff. Battery life is pretty good, lots of photo modes, great manual mode, great chrome mode, b&w mode, WEB-Cam feature (yes! web-cam), voice memo, video (good quality, but limited to 180 sec), great flash modes (try the S flash mode outdoors at night), even the manual was really simple and helpful - read it to get full use of the camera. The other obvious benefits are the small size, sexy design, and the coolness factor. However, to be honest I bought the camera for its lower price, and after comparing it to my friend's double-priced Sony Cybershot T1, I am completely satisfied. (It should be pointed out that the T1 is a 5MP camera, so a better comparison would be with the Fuji F450, which is also much cheaper than the T1)

Won't work!
I bought this camera because I've been using a FinePix 2600Z - 2.0 mega pixel for the past three years with gorgeous pictures. I love it . . . But it's soooo clunky. So, with all the great reviews for the F440, I thought how could I go wrong?
But, it's not working. After charging the battery that came with it, it has power but the icon shows an empty battery and it won't take any pictures. The manuel does not address this problem. So what's to do?
It's so similar as far as menu function to my 2600Z, but it certainly does not perform like it at all. I'm thinking there's either something wrong with the camera - - - or some dumb little thing that just isn't right. So, I really shouldn't give it a rating at all until I know what's wrong. But, I'm not sure what to do - send it back? I certainly won't get any online help from amazon as far as what's wrong. I've never had a problem with their products before - this is a first.

Love the camera
I am extremely pleased with this Fuji camera. I have always been a fan of Fuji digital cameras, but my older one was a bit too big. I was looking for something small that could go anywhere easily without needed a big case. Also, I wanted to not pay the Sony Cybershot price. This camera does exactly what I wanted; it is small enough to fit in a tiny purse or shirt pocket even. And it has great resolution and zoom--who needs any more than 4mp anyway?? Plus I no longer need to worry about charging rechargeable batteries all the time, now I can use them for my remote controls! The cradle that the camera comes with is great, and the camera holds a charge for longer than I have needed to use it so far. It was a great purchase--I can say that I have no buyer's remorse with this purchase.

Fuji Finepix F440
An excellent camera for my kind of use (not an avid photographer). Very compact and well made.

Right size, right quality
I bought this camera because of it balance of picture quality and small size. In its first month of use, I can definately say that this camera delivers. Advanced users will probably be frustrated at being unable to have an 'artistic license', mainly because it lacks some of the features that show up on bigger, more complex cameras like sephia tone, panoramic pics and the like. I'm confused as to Fuji's direction with this camera, though, because when I bought it the vendor said it was being phased out, and for that reason was substantially cheaper. Be careful with your memory selections too-- the mem card the Fuji uses is one of the more expensive available on the market. Thats the one thing I wish I would've taken into account before purchase. But all in all I'm very pleased.

Great until it broke
I bought this camera about four months ago, and it took beautiful pictures - color quality was much better than the A310 I had previously purchased from Fuji. The small size is great, except that I couldn't find a case that fit it well. Because of this, in my purse it seems that it accidentally turned on (which happens quite easily, unfortunately), which caused the lens to push out against my rigid purse which broke the zoom. I attempted to take it to a Fuji place to get it fixed (I bought it recently enough that it should have still been covered under warranty), but they said that it would cost me over $175 to fix the camera (what was wrong apparently is not covered by the warranty)! I didn't see any warnings about this, and had I realized that this was a possibility, I would never have bought this camera.
Summary: great camera, but watch out for it accidentally turning on in tight spaces

Couldn't be more pleased -excellent product
I've owned this camera for about 18 months now. I paid twice the current price, and it was worth it. The camera has performed perfectly in every situation used, and we use it alot. The battery has held up extremely well. It works as well now as when it was new. I can easily take hundereds of pics with the screen and flash on.(have 512MB XD card)
Only downfalls are that occassionally the Power on/off switch doesn't respond as expected, almost as if it's confused and they're is a small 1/3 second or so delay when a picture is taken, typical of all consumer digital camera's. Also, slightly exagerated colors -not necessarily a bad thing.
Video and audio quality are also good, though 1 min max per video. Biggest asset is camera size, smaller than a pack of smokes- makes it easy to take along. Truly a point and shoot camera in auto mode.
Highly reccommended!

Great Value!!
The F440 takes great pictures and with the 1 gig card you can shoot nearly forever. The wav. files are new to us and we're really enjoying that feature. It's size is perfect for purse or pocket. We think larger megapixel cameras are a waste of money for the average family photograghy. We rarely print anything over a 5x7. Highly recommended.

Still Incredible after 2 years
Sure it only has 4.1 megapixels, but with my new job, I've got money to burn, and I'm still not interested in buying a new camera. It's small, incredibly simple to use, takes great shots, and good video. It feels solid in my hand, and the cradle is a great added bonus. This is a great everyday camera to carry with you on the spur of the moment.
