NIce, inexpensive camera!
Just purchased this camera today as replacement for my previous Kodak point& shoot 4.0 So far, Im pleased with it, easy to figure out how to use and for my purposes e.g. simple photos, it's working just fine.
I really loved my other camera but my husband has permanently "borrowed it" to use at work. I would recommend this camera for people who want an easy to use device that takes good, simple pictures.

Good quality pictures, easy to use
This is a quality camera, my first digital, and very simple to use and understand. The price is right too. Just had first prints made and they turned out great.

"New" model can't compare to my old kodak
I bought this camera after my 3-year-old broke my kodak Z700. I loved my Z700, even though it was only 4MP and didn't have a lot of the features the newer cameras have. I figured that buying a newer kodak model and upgrading to 6MP would be a no-brainer, but I was disappointed in 2 major areas. First, the lag time is so slow on the C653, when I took pictures of my kids I rarely got what I was expecting to see. The smile or look that I saw when the flash went was long gone by the time it captures. We experimented with tons of settings and there was no difference. The other disappointing area was low-light picture quality. Anything I shot indoors was grainy except where the flash hit. Every background was grainy. Terrible. Using the low-light settings fixed the problem, but then your subject is blurry because you're not in "Sports" or "Kids" mode anymore (which we used all the time with the Z700 for taking pics of the kids). On my Z700 (which is only $150 now), I could set it and forget it. Set it to "action", and it took perfect pics indoors, or out, moving or stationary. That's what I thought I was getting in the C653, but I was wrong. I ended up returning the camera.

Simple, yet effective
Simple features, I got it for work and it does the job for what we need.

Great Camrea
I actualy bought this camera on an impulse. My Friends and were going on a day trip so decided that i should get a camera. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. Very Pleased with how the picture turned out. Took great moving and still shots. I would recommend this camera to everyone.

Kodak easyshare C653
Batteries that came with it were gone next day, but I bought some NI-MH rechargable batteries and a charger and the new batteries are still working after over a month. 2 in camera and 2 ready to go. The camera is easy to use and takes good pictures.

Kodak EasyShare 653
This is a great little camera for the price. Recommend seller. AAA++=
|
Super Camera
For an amateur like me this camera is the best - even takes beautiful pictures when subject is moving. My other digital - yuk - no matter what picture I took it was blurry. For the price you can't go wrong - excellent buy!

Amazing pic quality!
I bought this camera for my sister and she LOVES IT! I have seen the pics she has taken and they are of great quality. I will definitely purchase this camera again if I ever need to buy a camera as a gift---only thing I would change on this product the casing of the camera could be better. Other than that, highly recommend it!
|
mostly simple
I bought this product almost a month ago, it's very good product, easy to use, the clarity of the pictures is excellent. It doesn't come with rechargeable batteries; I have to buy it separately. Transferring files to my PC, consume very fast the battery. But, I think, it is a common problem in all digital cameras.
|
Slick 'n simple
I love this camera because it is a no-brainer. Made the mistake of spending $500 on another camera--which I could not learn to operate (the manual was absolutely useless); I gave it to a friend who is more camera savvy than I am. I love this Kodak's ease of operation, size, etc.

handy basic digital
I am not a camera 'buff', but it takes good basic pictures. It is easy to use. Special features I liked (1) timer counts down to 3 before taking picture (2) SD card is next to batteries on bottom of camera (3) very light weight (4) has a view finder so dont have to use LCD screen all the time which runs down batteries. My camera was refurbished. It comes with all accessories and looks like new.
|
Picture Perfect
Since this is my very first digital camera purchase I don't have any others to compare this one to so am giving it 5 stars. I'm finding it very user friendly especially for an amateur and everyone I've sent photos to have commented on the great quality of them. I love the camera so far and all of it's features. Great camera especially for the price! A thumbs up for this one!

Kodak C653
I chose this camera because it has the feature to stamp the date on the picture (in all sizes starting from 1.1 to 6.1MP), also the price was great. I've been using the camera for a while and the quality of the picture is very good, almost as good as a Canon SD 630 that I have. I like cameras that come with AA batteries, in this particular case, the 2 AA batteries would last 100s of pictures if you don't use the flash much. The camera is very easy to operate, and it's very handy. The videos that you can make are very good in quality of sound and image. I usually take pictures at 3.1MP, and it's good enough pixels to develop at 5x7 pictures. If you want to buy a camera for 120 dollars approx, this camera will not disappoint you. Good Luck!!!

Easy to use Quality camera
This is the easiest ecomonical camera I have had. Kodak made this for the non professional that likes to have fun with pictures. It's easy to use, takes clear pictures and gives you the flexibility of getting the dock for quick prints. Great product

Great Gift
I purchased the C653 as a gift for a friend. She has taken many pictures with it and thoroughly enjoys it. The viewfinder is a welcome feature when taking photos outdoors.
|
Great camera
I searched high and low for a camera to replace my older Easy SHare that i dropped one too many times. I really wanted a camera that had a view finder, as most of the new ones do not but this one does!!
It is EASY to use and a great price, esp b/c it takes video too!
High recommended!!

Cream of the crop!!
I enjoy my new Kodak Easyshare camera. I got it packaged nice an neat and got it sooner than I thought! Thanks guys!

The perfect camera for a 10-year old
We got this camera for my 10-year old to learn the basics of picture taking. My camera is 2 years old and this camera has more features on it than my camera (which is a Canon). I love the option of either using batteries or a rechargeable battery pack (which saves $$ in the long run). It would highly recommend this camera even to an adult!
|
We love this camera!
We were not willing, or rather able to spend very much money on a digital camera and went with an inexpensive one. Where we thought we would be sacrificing some quality, we actually think we gained something. This camera takes fantastic pictures and we are making albums like crazy. It is very easy to use and the zoom functions well.
Just a note, I would suggest that a consumer pick up an extra memory card that has more storage capacity. The one that came with this is okay but if you enjoy taking lots of pictures then picking up a 1meg card is definitely the way to go. Just a fantastic camera for a very reasonable and low price, I feel it will pay for itself many times over.

EasyShare, SmeasyShare ...
I am unable to use this camera for its intended purpose - that is to take and upload pictures of items to sell on Ebay!!!! Not happening!! There are EasyShare software issues (RESEARCH THESE SOFTWARE ISSUES BEFORE BUYING) and complicated firewall problems on my end due to my cable internet. Giving up on reply from Kodak EasyShare folks, I've ordered a card reader. I've been researching online forums on the software and I'm not alone with these issues.
I thought this was a good price - as a novice I did not know I would need additional equipment. This is what I found I needed to buy in addition to the camera:
- Rechargeable batteries and a battery charger. The batteries that came with camera lasted 1 day, if that.
- Camera also needed more memory, I quickly ran out so I also bought a memory card.
- Card Reader - Due to the uploading issues mentioned above, I've ordered a card reader. I've spent so much time trying to get the upload to work it was suggested from other EasyShare users to use a card reader instead (as they have done).
- Case - Of course you need a camera case.
No issues with the camera taking pictures but I've really been just taking test shots and trying to upload them.
My 2 cents worth, hope it helps someone !!

Great shots for little $
My rating is based on cost vs performance evaluation. Wanted an easy-to-use camera for my wife & the C653 fits the bill. Nothing fancy with simplified instructions booklet and straightforward menu options makes this a clear winner. We took the camera to DisneyWorld in June 2007 and everyone remarks how great the photos look. They are shocked when we quote the camera cost. I'm so glad the other reviews at this site were taken into account when purchasing the camera. Only drawback is an occasional blurriness. A great beginner's camera that takes as good pictures as cameras twice the C653's cost.

Would you like to increase your computer's boot time by two minutes?
As an owner of a Kodak Easyshare camera, I have to warn prospective buyers. Using a Kodak Easyshare camera requires installing the Easyshare malware, which cripples your computer. Your boot-up time will increase by two minutes. In addition to this, an 8-megabyte resource hog will linger in your computer's RAM, reducing your machine's efficiency. Before buying a Kodak camera, factor in $500 to upgrade your motherboard, processor, hard drive, and memory.
If you like delays, and are interested in staring a blank screen for a couple of minutes before your computer accepts any commands, then definitely go wtih Kodak.
|
Another Resource Hog
Using a Kodak Easyshare camera requires installing the Easyshare malware, which slows down your computer's boot time. In addition to this, an 8-megabyte resource hog lingers in RAM, reducing your machine's efficiency. Instead of installing a wasteful memory-resident application, Kodak should permit the user to click on an icon when an upload from the camera is desired. Easyshare does not offer this functionality. Happily, Kodak has many competitors. I suggest looking into another brand name, until such time as Easyshare is improved.

Great family camera
I purchased this camera to photograph the kids, holidays, vacations, school plays, etc., and it has been absolutely wonderful. It is simple to use, yet with enough features to be creative if you want. The video feature is great and simple to use. It is small and light and fits easily in my purse. The Easyshare software has worked out good for us. We are certainly not professionals, but for what we use it for, I can't imagine another camera being any better. The Easyshare printer dock is nice and portable for printing photos as well. If you are looking for an affordable, durable point and shoot camera, look no further.
|
Easy tro use
I bought my camera about a month ago and have used it outdoors and indoors. The pictures are clear and sharp. It is easy to use, point and shoot. There are features I haven't learned to use yet, but I like the selection of options on camera for all different conditions. The battery life is a lot better than I figured it would be on a digital camera. I have no complaints with the camera at all. It is a quality product. I also like the big LCD screen. Is is bigger than a lot of cameras I have seen.

A decent camera for the money
I've taken about 400 photos with my C653 and so far I am mostly satisfied. The most important thing is the ease of use ... this truly is a "point-and-shoot" camera. One of the first things I did was to take the same photograph several times with different settings. I didn't exactly master the settings, but it did help me adjust to the camera. To be honest, the "Auto" setting really works the best. I've been disappointed with some of the photos I've taken using the other settings, though several work very well (Close-Up, Night Portrait, and Landscape in particular). In fairness, some of the disppointing shots could be because I'm still learning the camera. Daytime photos have been clear and true-to-color, but nighttime and low light photos are sometimes grainy (using the Low Light setting does help, but not in every situation). Probably the biggest challenge with this camera is the timing. There is a delay when you press the button, and I've missed a lot of "in-action" photos. With a slight adjustment, though, I've been largely able to overcome this. There is a "Sport" setting, but I haven't used it with much success yet. If you are looking for a camera to catch a lot of sporting events, you might want to consider a more sophisticated SLR.
Downloading photos and working with the memory card are both easy as can be - I never even consulted the manual. It's even easier if you use Kodak's EasyShare online system to send photos to family and friends. While not as slim as some models, the C653 is relatively small, easy to transport and sturdy (it's been banged around a lot in my beach bag this summer - and dropped at least once - and doesn't look any worse for the wear). The video option works quite well, and you can freeze photos from within the video in a variety of ways, which is a great option with fast-moving subjects. Overall, the C653 is a good value for capturing simple photos of everyday life, and even some artistic shots. It's not a "photographer's camera," but it's not meant to be. The price is more than reasonable for the performance.
Two additional notes: be sure to buy an extra memory card if you want to take more than 10 pictures, and go with rechargable batteries. Regular rechargables don't seem to hold up (and often don't even work), but Ray-O-Vac makes a battery called a "Hybrid Rechargable" that fits standard AA chargers and can actually last through several days of photo-taking. Definitely beats the cost and environmental impact of regular batteries!

Nice little point and shoot....
This is a very nice little point and shoot camera. Love the features that are included with it for different scene shots. Enough manual control as well to change your results if you want to.
I didn't even have to install the Easy share software, just installed the camera driver that talks to the camera and off and running. Just wish that it had come with a soft case.
|
Great easy to use camera!
This is my first digital camera and I love it! I bought it mainly because I liked the big view window and it was recommended by the sales associate. I didn't have to load the included software for my computer came with some that works great. I did buy kodak rechargeabe batteries and they seem to last quite a while. This is very easy to use and I looked at others that seemed much more complicated. I would highly recommend this to a first time user!

Great product
Best deal for the money- have purchased 6 as gifts and everyone loves them. Kodak is the best for the price. If only everyone knew that there is Kodak technology in almost every camera available
|
Great little camera
Two days after I got the camera I took great pictures of my son's wedding then 2 days later we went to Canada and took more great shots, it's fast enough that I took a picture of a wolf running. The batteries last a long time, had taken over 200 shots befor changing them and they weren't dead yet.
|
Great camera!
Takes really nice pictures and easy to use. Easy to use software for uploading the pics too. Great camera for a great price!
|
Very satisfied
My 12 year old daughter bought this digital camera with her birthday money. Not only is it very easy for her to use but it takes excellent picture (so much so that I tend to borrow her camera now instead of using my own.) It seems very durable to this point and works well under different light conditions. Not a single problem so far. She (and I) are very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.

Kodak C653 camera
Product takes good pictures. Many of the features on the camera LDC are difficult to read in sunlight, and therefore useless. No manual was included with the product.
|
Love this camera
I love this camera. It feels great in my hand. It isn't awkward like the last camera I had. It is easy to use and the pictures come out great. The batteries stay charged for at least a week, and I use mine almost every day. I bought the accessory pack with the case, charger and 2 sets of batteries for $35. I have everything I need, and I couldn't be happier. I definitely would recommend this camera to anyone.
|
Kodak Digital
This Kodak Easyshare C653 is at least 2/3rd the size of my previous camera, and produces pictures of finer detail. Also came with the proper attachment for my Kodak Dock.

5 for the camera, 0 for the crappy software
Honestly, I'm not really sure how to rate this item. I bought the camera, as well as the docking kit and battery charger (which I haven't used, so save your money and don't bother with it). The camera is great. Easy to use, takes great pictures, and downloads like a dream.
There are dreams and then there are nightmares -- with brings us to my computer and the Easy Share software which is fighting me every step of the way in it's efforts to completely take over my computer. I can't tap on a picture in my freakin' email any more without the Easy Share program coming up to tell me this picture isn't in any files. I turn the computer on and have to fight Easy Share in it's efforts to come up whether I want it to or not. I can't even go to "My Pictures" any more because Easy Share comes up instead.
If I had it to do over again, truly I wouldn't. I could have gotten another kind of camera, gotten the same good pictures with a whole lot less aggravation.

A Trying Experience with Kodak web site
Since we purchased this camera as a gift for someone else, I can't say much about its actual performance or operation. As far as I can tell using it to make some test shots, it performed as promised, and the built-in menu made it easy enough to configure.
My problem came with trying to get the camera to communicate with an older OS--in this case, Windows ME. It is true that the fine print on the back of the box includes a line stating that WindowsXP or later is required. Of course, since we purchased it from Amazon, we did not see the box before we purchased it. Since nowhere on the Amazon page does it state this software requirement, perhaps they should bear some of the blame.
In any case, Kodak made it extremely difficult to download the necessary drivers that would let the camera communicate with Windows ME. They were there (if you are interested, you want version 5.2), but the menu selections, and even page titles were extremely confusing, even inaccurate. Eventually, however, after several hours, we did find and install version 5.2 of the software, and everything now works fine.

i just love my new digital camera,it takes very clear pics. it has everything you need in a digital camera

Kodak EasyShare C653
The Kodak EasyShare C653 6.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom was so easy to use that my husband stopped carrying his much more expensive and complicated digital camera during a recent vacation. Took some video with sound as easily as a snap-shot. The view finder was essential for composing photos in extremely bright sunlight. Wish I had had this camera years ago.

good camera
I have purchased Kodak cameras in the past and always find they are very good for the price. Easy to operate and good quality of pictures.

Long time Kodak digi cam fan. This is worst unit I have used.
I have had a number of digital cameras and have found Kodak to consistently get color right more than the competitors. We have a Canon and had a Nikon that could not hold a candle to the picture quality of the less expensive Kodak models. This unit, however, is a terrible camera. It must have a particularly less sensitive sensor because it gives the blurr warning so often it's pathetic. Even when you set the camera on higher ISO if not using the flash, you most often get a less than desirable result. It's simply the worst of all the digital cameras I have and have used. It does not perform nearly as well as a cheaper, less featured model from Kodak that I used for the past two years (buttons finally quit working on rocker button, so could no longer access some key settings).
The other problem I have with this camera is that, compared to every other model of every other brand I have seen recently, they do NOT put a hard plastic cover over the soft (but nice and large) viewing screen on the back. It got bumped a couple of times in my pack and now there are are large defects in the screen. Yes, one could keep such a camera in a case and all, I don't bother. But check it out for yourself if you like, this is the only digital camera I know of on the market where the viewing screen is not protected by a strong, poly clear surface of some sort. Poor, cheap design. Likely, my last Kodak. Fuji's are getting the consistently best ratings in most mags, in this price and class, these days.

Great Entry Level Basic Camera!
Don't let the name Kodak fool you. They have stepped up their game in order to compete in the digital market now that film has gone the way of the dinosaur. Kodak has clearly spent the time and energy in developing a great entry level camera that is easy to use and takes fantastic photographs. I purchased this for my girlfriend and she loves it. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quality, user friendly, entry level camera that takes great pictures.

LCD screen broke in less than 2 weeks
LCD screen broke in less than 4 weeks, it still takes pictures but I cant see what I am looking at.
|
great purchase!!
My 16 yr old son needed a camera for his Spring Break trip. 11 days in Costa Rico for Environmental Science class. I had already written a big check for the trip and he wasn't using MY camera. Found the refurbished camera section on Amazon.com. Great find!! He did have the camera at his return with awesome pictures!! All for less than $70!! (if he had lost it, not such a great $$ loss)

I love kodak
Kodak EasyShare C653 6.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom....
I bought this camera earlier this year..I love kodak product I went back to kodak after purchasing a samsung camera that I wasn't pleased with at all...what I love most about kodak is the simplicity anyone can operate these cameras and they won't have to worry about a bad shot..my only complaint with this camera is the delay once you press the button to take a picture other than that I have no complaints.
