Excellent ChoiceExcelent choice for this price. Easy to use. One bad point is the compaibility of the software Easy Share whit my XP. But the camera is excellent. Tavo

Nice looking camera; not user friendly nor qualityI purchased this camera for $199 at Walmart -- and promptly returned it a short while later.
Pros: lots of settings, easy to use (in automode) Cons: lots of settings (too many), the LCD viewer doesn't reflect the actual photo, and taking low-light pictures is very cumbersome and not easy. So, this camera is not easy to use for common family pictures indoors; photos are always dark unless a flash is used or manual settings are enabled (the settings of which require a rocket-science degree to understand). |
Good camera for the price, have all you need for your memories. The camera is great for the begginer people in automatic modes, but its not easy to understand all the function, the menu is clear but you have to need elemental know about photography to enjoy all the function of the camera. The price is just for one camera with this features, and I thing is a right choice for people that want no expend so much in a digital camera with optical zoom, the camera look great, its small, the picture are very clear, and the resolution of the viewer its standard and adecuate to see the picture taked, you can take videos with sound and the quality its aceptable, you must buy a big sd memory for enjoy take picture and videos and good recheargable batteries, the resolution of the pictures its good with a great perfomance.

My second digital cameraI just bought the Kodak Z700 after using a Polaroid PDC 3070. This camera is a big step beyond the Polaroid! First, it has glass optics. Second it has a whole lot more modes and settings. It is very well documented and the Easy Share software is much better than the software that comes with the PDC 3070. I found the camera to be very easy to operate and the images are sharp and well balanced.
All in all, I say "good camera, good value". |
Good Camera, good price, good perfomance, many features. If you want no expend so much in a digital camera with a lot of features and if you know something about prhotography that is the right choise, you find everithing for take good pictures in automatic modes, but you have to take a good course for understand all the basics of camera for use in manual mode, so that, the camera is nice, look that a expensive camera and take picture look easy when yor have some expience with this great camera, why I dont give a five stars? because manual control are very hard to understand and make dificult to take pictures in some situation.
|
Excellent!!This is my first digital camera, and I'm so pleased with it. At the beginning I don't know what kind of camera buy, but a friend of mine recommend me this one. It have a lot of options to take every kind of pictures, outside, at night, close objects, auto pictures and so others, so, if you want to have a very powerfull camera for a great price this have to be your option. If I have to buy another camera I buy another Kodak easy share.
|
Very Good inexpensive camera for intermediate userThis is my third Digicamera. For the price you can't really beat it. This camera takes excellent pictures in the dark.
Great, clear, full of features. This camera is not that difficult to use either. It does not require a degree in rocket science, just read the manual. I still can't get over how well it takes pictures in the dark. I took a picture of my living at night with no lights on. Totally pitch black. With the flash, the picture of the room looked as if it was mid day and well lit. Amazing Use the web to research your camera purchase. I checked this camera out through google before finally buying it. I am very pleased with the purchase. |
You get your money's worth!!!First of all let me say that i bought this as my first digital camera, and after playing with it a while i really liked what i got; there are three ways to use it (as i see it, actually it has a lot of modes and options) totally auto, specific conditions, or manual.
If you set it on auto, the pictures practically take themselves with the push of a button, in any conditions; If you have specific conditions there are also settings for that (like landscape, portrait, nighttime, etc.); And there is also the totally manual setting, wich will be of no use to you unless you know the basics a bout fotography (some people complaint the options are too many and too hard to use and i say unto them "DUH" you've been spoiled by automatic cameras, GO TAKE A FOTO COURSE. NOW.) And even if you decide to use the manual settings, the on screen display is comprehensive and user friendly, it explains what every option does, so just pick an option and the camera tells you what it is for... As for picture quality, it's like using film, and unless you're planning to print giant posters (in wich case you're better of buying a proffesional camera) you won't know the difference. I feel good about my purchase and so will you, i think, if you decide to buy this item. |
Awesome Little CameraI spent over two weeks looking at several different cameras offered by Amazon and reading reviews on each one. I've have an RCA digital that I bought several years ago and it's been a great camera BUT it doesn't have the options like the newer ones have today. With my budget I had to conserve on my spending but at the same time I wanted something I would be plezzed with...I finally decided to go with the Kodak Z700 and let me say, I'm not sorry for doing so...This "little" camera packs a punch. I love how "easy" it is to operate and with a little bit of reading in the instruction booklet that comes with the camera, I found it's pretty easy to navigate thru each type of settings. I also like the Video/Audio feature it has built in...
Overall, I would Strongly Recommend those with limited budgets and want an awesome little camera then by All Means..BUY THIS ONE....You Won't be Sorry... 5 Stars is my choice for this camera. Thanks to Amazon and Kodak. |
Very good camera, reliable and convenient!I got this camera for work, very quiet when taking the photos and has a fast save time (time for it to take a photo, save it, and then be ready to take another picture).
It's SD card slot doesn't share space with the batteries like some cameras do, so changing SD cards or taking it out to read the photos online doesn't require turning the camera off and on. It's also got a much better optical zoom that most cameras in this price range (3x is norm) and the 5x optical zoom doesn't get all grainy and pixelated like digital zoom does. Another nice feature is the sport mode which adjusts the shutter speed to let you capture a fast moving photo (like sports activites, kids at the holidays, photos from car window like for survellance) without getting a BLURRR. It's very nice for all types of light too. Best value for the money. |
Great quality and valueI just got this camera and within minutes (about 7)out of the box I was up and running. Snapping photos and loading them on the computer. The Kodak software works great with my XP, and the kodak interface is easy to work with. Some photo editing features, email and print straight from camera. Literallly plug in the camera and after it downloads the photos (seconds) it will automatically prompt for printing or email. Way cool feature.
The camera settings are easy to use, dial is clear and well placed. LCD screen is viewable in bright light. Manual flash settings are convienently located, camera feels comfortable in hand, SD slot placement is logical. I am not sure what was confusing to others in the reviews seen here, my fiance who is a camera novice (and not computer savvy) was up and shooting photos as soon as I handed him the camera. There are a lot of features on this camera, what a great value for the money! Kodak online has great photography tips and help for you and your camera, as well as a downloadable user manual. Also, yes there is an option for manual settings like a good old fashioned SLR camera. If you are not familiar with traditional 35mm SLR camera settings...then either don't use this feature, take a intro to basic photography course, or buy a cheaper camera that does not offer manual settings. I have had a tried and true SLR camera for years and love it. I was excited to find an affordable digital camera that combines what I like about "point and shoot" style camera, and manual settings that I like about my 35mm SLR. SO - the feature is there, I thought it was pretty straightforward how it works. So if you are familiar with fstop, aperature, ISO, etc...this will be no problem. The quality of the photos are amazing!! In the "Auto settings" mode even. I have tried many of the special featured setting specifics like the Museum/manner, People inside at a party, and Close up modes and have been happy with results. One not so great thing, the non-rechargeable batteries that came free with the camera lasted us about 4-5 hours total. So, I reccomend a great quality rechargable set of batteries. Also, FYI, the internal memory holds about 16 pictures or so. I purchased seperately a 256 MB SD card and now my camera will hold just shy of 200 basic photos (mine says 198). |
I love this cameraI bought this a camera before Christmas and it takes great pictures and was very easy to use. I plan to buy some rechargeable batteries because the normal ones die very fast. Both my sisters saw my camera over the holidays and plan to buy the same one.
|
Tried the sony and took it back immediately and got this oneTried the Sony Cyber shot and it was a horrible mess, I checked reivews on the web and found the problems I was having were common so I took it back and got this one. It has been great, except for having to use the software... it's USB so you think it would just work when plugged into a computer but for some reason it doesn't so you have to instal the software that comes with it.

Z700 Wow!This is my first digital camera and I did a lot of research on cameras before buying this one. It seemed each had strong points and some negatives. Any proprietary sticks or the Canon with its bug got eliminated from my list. Getting tired of the research I made the plunge and bought the Z700 based on good reviews and great price. Tempted by higher MP cameras but once you get to a certain point there isn't much noticeable difference in quality. The 4MP does a great job. Also, try to get as high of an optical zoom as possible--the digital zoom on all cameras is just about worthless and just a big number for advertising as far as I am concerned. Most of my film photography was macro and telephoto so the best for under $200 was important to me.
Like others--right out of the box I was taking pictures and downloading them to my laptop. Spent the first day running in & out of the garage to download to the laptop because I didn't order a SD card at the same time. Now have a 1GB San Disk and am loving it--be sure to format it first. At first, I noticed a clicking that sounded somewhat like a small electical short. Discovered that this is the focusing. I set mine to single focus and no more funny noises. I like this better anyway as it seems to speed up the shots since it is not constantly trying to focus on more area. It has a large sweet spot and you can also chose which area you want to be the primary focus area. It snowed and I used the PAS (manual settings to compensate for the brightness). Later discovered the SNOW mode which did about as well but the manual settings seemed to be just a little bit better. It is easy to bracket your pictures with digital. This is something that I was always hesitant to do with film because of the cost. With digital turn the dial & try a different picture mode if you don't like certain ones just hit delete. SCN is one of the wonderful features with a lot of the different (manual) settings done for you. Just select the type of picture environment--backlight, night portrait, night landscape, manner/museum, text, children, party, portrait, beach, flower, fireworks, snow, self portrait (this is great and no red eye). Automatic doesn't get much use by me. Like another reviewer discovered the night shots are great. Took some in a pitch black room and they turned out beautifully--clear and crisp focus and color. My Nikon SLR will probably not get much use anymore and end up on Ebay. Focusing for me was becoming an issue and this Z700 does quite a good job. The video is fun--not high resolution--but fun. I walked my 6 acre property and documented boundary lines with video. The dog howling and romping in the snow was also funny. The Z700 was really meant for a gift for my 11 yr daughter. She took over 100 pictures today and most turned out very well and quite creative. Maybe there will be an expensive Canon EOS Digital Rebel in the future but for now I am a very happy Kodak Z700 digital camera owner. Since nothing gets a perfect score from me it gets a 4. It is pretty close to perfect though considering its features and cost which make it a great value. Will just have to wait to rate dependability and longivity. Don't hesitate to buy this as it is a great camera and not a problem yet with over 300 pictures taken. |
Special offer not so specialHonestly, I haven't tried the camera yet. It looks good coming out of the box and has nice features, assuming they work. BUT BEWARE! I ordered Amazon's special offer that goes with this camera: a free Compact Flash disk. Only to discover that THE SILLY CAMERA DOESN'T TAKE A COMPACT FLASH CARD!!!! So my great deal isn't quite as great as it seemed.
Let that be a lesson to me--don't expect they're Amazon folks to know what they're doing. I'm off to Walmart for a dang-gum SD memory card. |
Get a free Canon Rebel XT 8 megapixel instead! Why settle for less, when you can get a brand new original top-of-the-line Canon Digital Rebel XT 8MP camera for Free! I got mine from this web site: http://xrl.us/rebelxt

Amazing Colors and Detail for 4MP digicam for such a low price!!!This truly is an amazing camera for its price. A great value. The colors are bold and the detail is just as good as any other digicam I've used (even ones that cost more), and the design is very ergonomic (it fits well in your hand, especially if you have huge hands like I do). In addition, the layout is very simple; therefore, it is extremely user friendly. The additional software is great as well. My only con towards this camera is that it really does suck the life out of batteries in no time (even top Duracell and Energizer batteries, as well as the Kodak "Digital Camera" batteries that come with the camera). You should definitely invest in rechargeable NiMH batteries or you'll end up spending a fortune on disposable batteries.
I use a 1GB SD memory card and I get 788 pics or 57min in video footage (with sound). You don't have to buy a 1GB memory card, but you definitely should shoot for at least 128MB. |
Mine was a lemonMy had a problem. It would shut down by itself, sometimes within ten seconds after taking a picture. Obviously that's not how it's supposed to function. I returned it and did not ask for a replacement for I might get a similar dud.
|
Great CameraNice crisp photos and ease of use. Has a nice balance of zoom with cost. Definitely a great buy!

Amazon should comply with the Product Description :(I bought 2 Kodak Z700, one refurbished and one new. Both cameras come with the same accesories. HOwever the description at the web site says in the product description:
"Other features include compatibility with Kodak EasyShare camera and printer docks; print, e-mail, and organize your photos with just one touch of the Share button; 16MB internal memory with SD/MMC card expansion slot; built-in flash with red-eye reduction; self-timer; real image optical viewfinder; video out cable; USB and A/V cables; wrist strap; Kodak EasyShare software; rapid battery charger; 24V AC adapter and getting started kit. Imported. 2-4/5Hx2-1/5Wx3-4/5L"." All of the things are correct, but the new camera didn't come with the "rapid battery charger; 24V AC adapter and getting started kit." The product description imply that. I bought this product on february, and still I don't receive any answer about the missing parts. :( that is a shame for amazon. Besides that issue, the Z700 is a solid camera, it allows to take great pictures in different pre-programed scenes, and if ypu are a pro user, you can also program the shutter, apperture, etc, etc. |
good camera (but with a few caveats)The Kodak Z-700 is my first digital camera. I like it very much, except for...
The cons: The camera's 16 MB internal memory card is a joke, as are the two included AA Kodak batteries. Within less than two hours of use, the memory card filled up; I would expect a modern "high-tech" digital camera to match if not exceed the 24-photo minimum of its 35mm predecessors. And although the batteries probably ran low because I tested the camera at night using the flash and fiddled with the menu and other controls, I would expect more. The next day I ventured outside to take photos with a different set of used but fairly new AA batteries. All went well at first. But then the camera began to power off suddenly, sometimes in the middle of a photo comp or after I'd used the zoom, and sometimes when placed in certain modes such as close up, landscape, etc. I noticed the occasional red flashing light indicating a low battery, yet the low-battery icon on the view screen appeared to be around the 50-percent mark. I considered returning the camera to Amazon. Sigh. Recommendations: Luckily, though, I had heeded the fine advice of other reviewers in this forum and had also ordered a 256 MB external memory card, rechargeable batteries, and docking station. (At the time of purchase, the docking station was just $7 more than the charger and offered some handy features.) I recycled the depleted AA batteries, inserted the rechargeables, and let the camera charge overnight on the docking station. The next day I inserted the external memory card, formatted it, and began taking photos... The pros: Lo and behold! Properly geared and powered, this camera exhibits no aberrant behavior and takes gloriously sharp, clear pictures. Its focus is better than that on my point-n-shoot 35mm. The color is realistic and vivid. The software is intuitive, and with the docking station you can recharge the batteries and transfer photos to the computer with the touch of a button. The camera itself is ergonomic and nicely weighted, like a fine chef's knife. Overall, I'm happy I purchased the Z-700. It's rated #2, after a Canon, in a recent Consumer's Reports review of digital cameras. I just wish that Kodak packaged the camera with everything it needs instead of enticing us with a low purchase price and allowing us to discover later that the alleged "accessories" (rechargeable batteries, charger, external memory card) are actually mandatory. |
Kodak Z700 CommentsEasy to use, easy to hold especially as I'm left handed. No complaints except they could have given you rechargeable batteries. Somewhat new with digital but this looks like a great camera for a beginner.
|
Windows XP problemI have a different model Kodak camera, however they all use the same EasyShare software. Running Windows XP, I could not get the software to work properly. After several hours on the phone with Kodak tech support, they couldn't get it working either. They said they are aware of the problem on some computers running Windows XP. It is now several weeks later and they still don't have a fix. They don't really seem to care either.
It might not be a bad idea to consider other brands, instead of Kodak. Since, if the software won't work properly, then what good is the camera? |
Fantastic Camera For The PriceI've played with digital cameras before but I've always preferred film. My earlier digital cameras were cheap and nasty, but now that prices are falling, I decided to invest in this little gem.
The camera packs a wealth of photo settings to ensure you take the best possible picture and downloading to the PC is a piece of cake. I use my images in Photoshop so I am thankful for the crisp, clear pictures it takes. I would recommend getting the docking station (which comes with the rechargeable battery pack) unless you want to spend money on batteries. Also, get an additional memory card to give you more storage space. I would have given the product 5 stars, but I wish the bundled Kodak software would come with "Auto Start" preferences. I don't like programs running in the background so I had to edit my PC startup settings manually to prevent the EasyShare software from booting at Startup. Aside from that, this camera is money well spent. |
Don't buy this camera !I bought this camera for my wife for her birthday. At first she loved the features and ease of use. But unfortunately in less than a month the camera just died, lost all power .Tried fresh batteries to no avail. When we returned it to the place of purchase we found they no longer carried this model .Big surprise. Being 35mm SLR buffs we decided to upgrade to the next model the Z740 which has full manual controls and features similar to a SLR .We instantly fell in love with this camera but alas , within less than two weeks this camera also died .Same scenario , lost power and fresh batteries didn't help . I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KODAK CAMERA !!!
|
Good camera but big repairsI have had this camera for four gentle-use months, and the battery door and circuitry just gave out, with a repair costing half as much as the camera itself did. The camera takes good pictures and is a good size, but the battery bay on mine has had troubles since I purchased it. Having purchased it from a re-seller here on Amazon, I can't use the warranty and am out the money.
|
Great piece of gearAfter years of using a few other cameras, I finally saw the light and bought a Kodak. The Z700 is a fantastic camera for the price. Optical zoom was important to me, as was size. While not tiny, this camera fits easily into my purse to capture those spontaneous moments my children provide. Uploading is very easy, even without the docking station and the clairty and resolution of the pictures I've taken is great, particularly with the selection of scenes like beach, party, museum, etc. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who likes to take pictures of family and friends and make prints to share and frame.
|
Kodak has produced a winnerFor those of us who are digitally challenged, this camera is really neat and user friendly. I recommend it to anyone looking for a new digital for recreational use.
|
a big battery eaterI had the earlier model of kodak camera and liked it. One thig about the kodak camera, they seems to produce high quality photo. We really like the picture. However, I am not happy about how fast we need to change the batteries. We can still use the used batteries for electric toothbrush (still enough power left for it), but not for the camera. The camera starts to shut off in a few seconds when the batteries do not have enough power for it anymore. It is very frustrating. We had suspected other defects, but as soon as we put the new batteries in it, it works fine. The older model went through a lot of baterries, too, but this one seems to be worse.
|
Kodak Easyshare Digital CameraThe camera was a gift for my 15-year old son and he is really enjoying experimenting with all the features--he has produced a video which we all viewed on the tv, he is taking abstract pictures of ordinary things and producing interesting pictures. He think's his camera is "cool."
|
great camera for the price-For a camera under $150, the Kodak Easyshare Z700 has been great. Picture taking is easy, set-up instructions are clear and well-written. I didn't purchase the docking station and it appears that hasn't diminshed the over-all functionality of the camera.
|
Great camera for larger hands! The Z700 is easy to use and comfortable in my hand. Although the flash is bright, the accompanying software takes the red out of eyes with the click of a mouse. My kids enjoy using the camera as much as I do. Loading the pictures onto the PC couldn't be easier!
|
Bad performance. It turns off suddently at the 2nd. day.I think Kodak is not a good brand for digital cameras. They always have some functional problem...This camera looks like a cheap material, it's heavy and not handly. I don't recommend this product. Also, the second day that I received it, it started to turn off by itself... I'm still waiting for my money back... I hope this bad purchase finish in good terms. In CONCLUSION: Do not buy Kodak Digital Cameras any more. This is my second experience with the brand...So, belive me...it will be a problem in the short term.
|
Battery hog, very frustrating!!!!I haven't learned how to use all the features on this camera, but I'm sure when I do there won't be nearly enough battery power to actually do it. This camera will run about a half hour on fresh batteries, and then it just turns off. I thought it was defective, but a camera guy told me the Kodak digitals are like that. I would recommend a different brand with a special battery pack, not one that runs on two AA batteries. I'm going to try rechargables just to save some money, but this will never be a good camera for trips or outdoor stuff. Also, it sucks at landscape pics, bright colors (such as sunrises and sunsets) appear washed out and pale. Even a bright fuschia forest-fire sun is an anemic pale yellow (maybe that's just a digital thing).
|
An excellent camera for the priceThis is the second one I've bought. My daughter claimed the first one. I make miniatures and needed a digital camera to photograph them. Something not too expensive and that would take GOOD close-up photos. This camera is excellent! All the photos I've taken have come out beautifully, whether landscape scenes or pics of my 1" minis. I highly recommend this camera.
|
DEAD AFTER 6 MONTHS!I bought this camera brand new 6 months ago. It has been used very lightly on birthdays and holidays. It has never been dropped and stored properly but now it is dead.
Aside from my bitterness over it going dead so soon I would still give it a low rating because of how fast it goes through batteries. Two AA batteries would only last one photo shoot. It is relatively easy to use and the picture quality was good but this camera is not mechanically sound. |
Easy to use, great cameraI have only one complaint, it didn't come with a case! Other than that its a great camera for the money!
|
Great, User-Friendly CameraI wanted to make one thing clear about this great camera. A few reviewers expressed that it is a "battery hog" and that it was "dead after 6 months". This is because they used AA batteries. The instructions clearly state that AA batteries are not recommended and that they may ruin the camera. A CRV3 battery (one) is the proper battery to use. It gives plenty of power and long life.
That being said, I have used this camera for one year and it has delivered wonderful results. |
Good camera, good clarityI use the camera for taking pics for our commercial web site and the photos are very good. Easy to work with, light weight, the auto-focus works well. The manual settings are easy to figure out too.
You don't need to install the software for many computers: just insert the card into the slot and there might already be software that was included with the pc. Also don't need the docking station if you have a media drive. I haven't had problems with excessive battery consumption nor sudden shutting off. I think many of the camera brands have pulled back on quality control in favor of mass production. If the camera fails quickly, you can return it. I had an Olympus (which I loved) die after a couple of years and the repair costs would have been as much as a new camera. It's not just Kodak. And for sure, get an extra memory card and use that. |
Mixed reactions for this oneI'm fifteen years old, and photography is a major hobby of mine already. I had been using my father's way-out-of-date 2.1 megapixel camera for about 2 years, and wanted an upgrade to a better camera. When I was searching, this was not on my list of cameras to buy. I was looking at ones such as the much more slim Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W5. I made sure to give my mom a list of all of the ones I wanted, since Christmas was approaching fast.
When I opened my gifts and found the Z700, I wasn't sure what to think, and I admit I may have been a bit ungrateful. From the package, it appeared to be clumsy to hold, because since I'm left-handed I tend to take pictures up-side-down so that I can hold a camera with my left hand. The design of this prohibited me from doing that, because the grip on the side was a bit awkward and manufactured for right hands. It also appeared really bulky against other cameras I've seen, because the grip plus how far the lense zooms out makes it a big camera compared to others. It also runs on normal batteries, but it CANNOT use alkaline. They last all of about 5 shots. You have to buy either special batteries from Kodak, or lithium batteries, both of which are extremely expensive. With my first few uses, it was hard getting used to the large design, and the LCD screen was smaller than I had expected as well. After about a month or two, I started getting used to it. Once I got past the size, I realized it takes very crisp pictures. The digital zoom is useless because it adds pixelation, but the normal zoom is very good by itself. The LCD pretty much washes out in bright light, but the viewfinder is very helpful. THe same happens in low light. It has a lot of settings that are found to be useful, such as night portrait, night landscape, text and documents, and self-portrait. The sports setting is also useful. It's hard to focus on closeup stuff in auto mode, but the self-portrait option takes care of any closeup stuff. It is also a heavy camera, which makes it feel a lot more sturdy than some of the lightweight aluminum cameras now. The dial is a little hard to turn, and the buttons are a little hard to press, but everything is really easy to figure out, and you'll be taking great pictures in no time. |
Camera died after 1 year and 4 days. Repair cost close to original costWe never dropped our camera and until now its still looks fresh and new. And one day, the lens just won't open. It lights up then after a few seconds, it turns off automatically. Called a up a Kodak Service center and they gave me a quote for repair.
The price they've given me is close to my purchase price here in Amazon! I'll never buy a Kodak camera again until they come up with a good pricing for repairs. I do believe that all electronic gadgets die at some point. So I'm expecting a believable quote for repairs. I think Kodak is making expensive disposable digital cameras |
JUNK!I bought the 2700 easy share camera and printer dock. Money thrown away!! The camera doesn't take quality pictures in my opinion and the printer was junk, also in my opinion. It truly is junk now as I got so frustrated with it, I threw it on the floor and smashed it. Not kidding! When I first got it,I called Kodak and they told my son( who is knowledgeable in this stuff) how to reset the printer. We reset it and it worked for awhile. Then it wouldn't work any more and I did away with it. No more Kodak for me and my son bought a different brand after he saw how mine worked.

Excellent cameraI have never been an avid photographer, preferring much more to experience and enjoy the moment rather than fumbling around with a camera trying to get the perfect shot. This camera, with its ease of use and great picture quality, gives me the best of both worlds. I've had it for over 6 months now and have been very pleased with it. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is for one piece of misleading advertising. The camera is touted as running on AA batteries, but when you read the manual you learn that "standard" AA alkaline batteries are not recommended. You must use lithium or rechargeable batteries instead. This is probably the reason for many reviewer complaints about battery life and about the camera shutting itself off - it just doesn't run on alkalines. But I've had no problems running it on lithiums and rechargeables.
I also can't make any recommendations about the software one way or the other. I did the custom setup and installed the USB drivers only, which work fine. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements to do my editing and am thrilled with the results. |
Pricey repair quoteI too purchased this camera online. I believe that the camera itself took quality photos, but upon the lense no longer telescoping. I contacted the repair line only to find out that they quoted me $150 for the repair! I could not locate my receipt, even though I purchased it new online and registered it, they would only say, "no receipt, no warranty". Valuable lesson learned.
Keep receipt... nice camera. |
Never buy a Kodak CameraI have had this camera for about a year. It has been nothing but a problem. First, the kodak easyshare software has continuous problems. I have spent HOURS trying to fix it. Still has bugs in it no matter what I do.
Secondly, the camera is very unreliable. I have a wedding to go to this weekend and I do not trust it and am taking a disposable camera too. How do I explain the problems I have had? There are so many. The camera misfunctions continuously. Sometimes it does nothing at all. Other times the zoom lense will not shut. You turn the option selector on and even though it is on the option you select you get another option. I sometimes can not even shut the camera off I gotta take the batteries out to do so...if I can even find batteries that work in the camera. Honestly, I call tech supoport and told them the problems I have having and they tell me that only Kodak batteries work with the camera and told me to buy some. SO I went to a nice camera shop and they do not sell kodak batteries. The camera salesman told me that Kodak cameras are junk and the brand of battery should not matter. I believe him. So my camera which would not work...I asked the salesman to help me out. It did not work with any lithium batteries.....reusable or rechargable. He popped in some alkaline batteries and amazingly it worked. Well, everyone knows alkaline batteries have a real short short life. My camera now does not work with either batteries. Probably only Kodak batteries....maybe....or maybe Kodak wants to get another ten bucks out of me. I personally don't even think the pictures this camera takes are any good. Really, when people take pictures of me with this camera my eyes are always closed. I am so anxious to get rid of this camera.....well would be but know I gotta fork over at least $250 on a good camera. Trying to save money on this 'disposable' camera was a waste. STAY AWAY FROM KODAK CAMERAS! If you don't believe me get a creditable camera magazine and read reviews. |
Digital cameraThis camera was worth the money. I like that if you take a picture and you do not like it you can deliete it right away.It is easy to use. I am still learning how to use it. I just like that a lot is turn on and pic a setting and take a picture.

KODAK RIPS OFF THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH THIS CAMERAI purchased this camera for my office. I had to convince my boss that Kodak was a good camera and the dock system was the way to go...unfortunately my recommendation turned out to be a nightmare!! We spent almost $300 for the camera and dock station - haven't taken 75 pictures with the camera and it is junk! When I turn the camera on it extends the lense about 1/4" and then retracts and shuts itself off. I tried all of the sites from Kodak and after numerous correspondence with Kodak the conclusion is: 1. I can send the camera back to them and for $125.00 they will fix it. (I can buy a new one for $129.00) 2. I can send the camera in and they would sell me a "refurbished" camera for between $250-$300. OR 3. Pitch the piece of junk camera and buy anything else but a KODAK....I'm going with #3 !!! Save your money and time trying to deal with Kodak!!

Awful Purchase From Wall Street PhotoThe shutter does not open all the time and when I sent it back to Wall Street Photo they sent the same camera back to me again when I have asked for a refund....

OHHHHHHH, so THAT'S the problem!I went through two battery rechargers and three sets of rechargeable batteries before I came here and discovered LOTS of people are having trouble with the camera doing an auto-shut-off AS IF it's out of batteries when actually it's probably a battery compartment problem. I confirmed that it's a compartment problem on mine by putting in brand-new alkalines: the camera still shut off after a few seconds.
Other than that problem (which is finally fatal in my camera, but after 2-and-a-half years of steady use), I liked the camera and recommended it to many people. It's easy to use if what you like is a mostly automatic camera (that's what I like---I don't mess with the manual settings), and it has a good zoom, and I thought the picture quality was quite good considering the price of the camera. I won't recommend it anymore, though, now that I see the battery problem is common. |
Not good! The printer did not work, it only printed 1/2 of the picture. I am having a real hard time with trying to get it replaced, and I had to send it back to the place that Kodak has that works on the printers, and they could not fix it. They told me they had to send it back to the manufacturer, Kodak, to get it replaced. I am still waiting on the replacement.
This is the first and last thing, I will buy on Amazon! |
I HATE THIS CAMERAI seriously hate this camera. It keeps dying! Even if I charge it forever, it only lasts for 5 minutes once you turn it on. My crappy $50? camera lasts weeks before needing to be charged. The features are okay though. Sometimes the pictures come out blurry, but I like the videos you can take. Also, it's too fat and big.
