Wonderful CameraI researched for a very long time before deciding on the Z740. I am sooooo HAPPY with my purchase. Kodak's cameras are so easy to use and this one is no exception! The pictures I have taken are AWESOME! I love having the 10X zoom, I can get some amazing closeups. I recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for an easy to use camera that has the capability to do a lot with!

Outstanding CameraWant a camera that is easy to operate, takes great pictures, and as "affordable"? Our family highly recommends this camera.
We came into the search with several basic criteria: 1) It must be easy to use (no background in FORTRAN or C++ required) 2) High quality (5 mpx) 3) Fast recovery time 4) Easy to move photos to the computer and print 5) AA Batteries if possible 6) 5-10x zoom I was shocked to see the Z740 met each of these to our satisfaction. It seemed that when we were researching, we'd find a camera that was 5 mpx, took AA's, but had a 5-6 sec recovery. Or another camera would have a 2-3 sec recovery, 5 px, but had a non-standard battery type. We were about to give up and just buy the one that "most" fit our criteria -then a friend recommended the Z740. We've been amazed. You select the picture mode by rotating a dial. Within seconds, you can take a video, rotate the dial, and take a still shot - No searching the menu to put it in video mode - just rotate the dial. Focus is "point and shoot" - a set of brackets resizes to show you what the camera is focusing on and then turn green. Picture review is easy - a single button push puts you in "review" mode - You can then zoom in or out on your picture. Transfer the pictures by simply placing the camera on its docking station / printer, then push a button. The computer software is fairly intuitive, though those who use other photo programs like Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photopaint may find it a bit basic. The little printer prints GREAT photos - but they are expensive (Kodak propriety paper and ink ribbon) - $25 for 40 prints; still, it does a great job of printing "waterproof" prints. To print, you just hit the "print" after you dock the camera, or you can print your photos from the computer to your desktop printer, OR you can send pictures in to a photo developer (local camera shop, Sam's, Costco, etc.) to print only photos you want. My wife does scrapbooking and it is ideal for her. We highly recommend this camera. |
AwesomeGood Camera, This is my first Digital... From 35mm I waited to get his model. Worth the wait... The battery seems to not last that long always have a spare on hand. Also get the Camera Fire Wire USB Wire. It communicates great with a touch of a button to the PC. I have a Dell-P3 600 and it works fin with my USB Port.
Support Kodak, Thank you from Rochester NY |
Great camera with a great zoomThere's no doubt about it, the Kodak Z740 is a great camera. Its small enough to carry with you (though a little too big for pockets), has a nice LCD, boasts amazing 5MP resolution, as well as professional quality 10x optical zoom (not junky digital zoom, like other cameras). You can print out an 8x10 poster of your photo without having to stretch the image, that's how great 5MP really is. Also, its got tons of features for a non-SLR model that are easy to use for camera beginners.

Excellent! This Camera is remarkable. I remember when I got my first digital camera a few years ago, and it was a 1mp camera and everyone was so excited when those made there way on to the market. Now only a few years later, consumers are able to buy, 5, 6, and even 8 megapixel digital cameras. That goes to show you how far digital photography has come these days. - One thing that makes this camera stand out from all the rest is it's 10x Optical Zoom Lens. This lens can get you up close and personal with anything your trying to capture, and the quality does not degrade, because it isn't the digital zoom. I would suggest getting a Higher Capacity SD card, 256mb is sufficient for most people (159 photos at 5mp Resolution) but if your taking a long vacation get a 512 or even a 1gb card for this camera and you won't regret it. Overall this is a good value, and if your in the market for a Printer as well, check out the printer dock, it makes a great companion for this Kodak z740.

ANOTHER SATISFIED CUSTOMERI purchased this camera as desperately needed upgrade from my HP 812xi digital camera. After over 2 months of research I decided that Kodak was my best bet as an upgrade and MAN OHH MAN am I pleased! When viewed from the camera display, the pictures look good, but when actually downloaded to a computer or printed they look fabulous. I especially like the fact that the movie mode allows me to film quite a bit of footage and the battery that accompanied the camera is very strong. I was able to purchase three rechargeable back-up batteries on Ebay for $5.00 each.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA! |

Z740 ReviewLove this camera, highly recomend the Z740. Easy to use with all
this technology. Used it on a cruise, took pictures at dinner and printed pictures in my cabin. Had them ready the next night, very impressive. |
wonderful cameraI decided on this camera after receiving photos from a friend that had a Kodak. The images were amazingly sharp and the prints I made looked professional. I hate reading owners manuals, but this camera is extremely user friendly. My one complaint is that the batteries that come with the camera are not rechargable. The camera is a little bulky (less than the previous model), but I bought it for the quality of photos, not to fit into my back pocket. It is very easy to download the photos to my computer using the USB port, however I have a little trouble transferring them to the other photo program I prefer to use, but this is most likely my fault due to lack of knowledge of the programs. If you are looking for a camera to preserve memories, I highly recommend the Z740.
|
xxxxHaven't used the camera enough to form an opinion. Having one small problem,,,, every time I turn on the camera, the flash pops up. Wrote to Kodak and they suggested that I send it in for repair. I didn't think it was that big a deal, so will hold off for now. I've got plenty of warrenty time left to deal with it if that becomes necessary.
|
Awesome Camera BUT DOES ANYONE...I just used a friend's Z740 and the first thing i noticed is the LCD screen. Unlike any other digital camera I've looked at, this one looked like I was watching a fuzzy TV channel. It has a lot of noise and movement, not clear at all. When looking through the viewfinder, same thing... lights up and fuzzy noise moving around.
I thought it was a defect and called Kodak. After lots of time on hold, the man reported to me that this is normal on the Z740 and that it's their only camera that does this. He said it's to compensate for low lighting. It's very annoying to me to see such a blurry preview. [...] The pictures turned out great, but it was difficult to tell if they were in focus before I took them because of all the noise on the LCD screen. i felt like i was using a videocamera. [...] Thanks! |
A superb camaraMy camera arrived 1 day before my holiday in Europe so I did not have time to read the manual but when I returned I had 157 pics in the camera (it did not get charged in the 2 weeks) and the quality is superb. I have never been so impressed with a camera before and I am totally delighted with my purchase. Very easy to use, I did not utilize all the functions but those I used were pretty intuitive. I would recommend to anyone. Also got the dock which I did not take on holiday but did print a couple out when I got back. As there were so many I took the memory card down to the local Kodak center and printed them off and that worked very well. One small hitch, camera arrived with wrong cable for connection to computer, I did not realize until I got back and tried to download, but Kodak help center was very helpful and are sending me a new cable. For these pics I got a CD so I could load onto computer and email to friends.

GET THIS CAMERAThis camera is extremely high end and user friendly. I am not computer savy, and even less with getting a good picture. This camera has everything you need for incredible pictures, but does not have the price tag. Best purchase I have so far. Even my husband is extremely happy with the camera.:):)

Easy Share is Easy to Use for Digital Camera Rookies Like Me!Kodak's entry into the digital camera market was later than its rivals, the Japanese camera companies, such as Nikkon and Canon. However, with the release of the Easy Share Z740 5-Megapixel camera, Kodak establishes itself as a real competitor.
This is my first digital camera and I am quite pleased with it. I have been taking pictures with a SLR film Canon camera for over 25 years and was reluctant to go digital, as I had a great set-up (lenses and accessories) with the film format. Even so, it is readily apparent that film photography will soon be ancient history and digital photography will certainly become the future of picture taking. The Easy Share is a very easy camera to learn. I spent about 45 minutes reading the manual with the camera in my lap exploring all the buttons, options, and settings. From that point on it was a cinch to take great pictures, as the camera is so easy to use. For those who want a simple point and shoot camera, the automatic setting will give you the simplicity you desire. For those who want more control over the camera settings, such as F-stop and shutter speed, there are settings for these as well. For this reason, the Easyshare Z740 is a great camera for general use. It has a very nice flash that pops up when you need it. The flash also has features that you can control if desired. I bought the Easy Share because I read in reviews it was a good quality camera, and primarily for the 10-power optical zoom lens. The 10x lens is a good quality glass lens that gives sharp shots. I love the versitiliy it gives the photographer! Most digital cameras have 3x optical zoom lenses and then utilize a 5-10 power digital zoom. The Kodak Easy Share has a 3x digital zoom making the total zoom a 30 power combo. However, if you have any experience at all with digital zooms you quickly realize that they produce an inferior grainy (and usually blurry) image. However, because the Easy Share has a 10 power optical zoom, one rarely needs to go beyond this and use the digital zoom. Beware of cameras that proclaim their 20x or 30x digital zooms and the image will greatly disappoint you! With a 512 MB flash (memory card), the camera will take about 350 pictures before having to download the pics to a computer for storage or printing. The transfer process is so easy. My wife, who is a computer illiterate can even manage this task. The software (computer) program that comes with the camera is very adequate and reliable. The lithium battery for the camera is charged easily by simply plugging the camera into a pod that comes with the camera. There is a jack on the bottom of the camera that plugs into the pod and charges the battery without having to remove it from the camera each time, a feature that is very simple and handy. The camera itself is much smaller than a standard 35 mm film camera so it goes anywhere with you. The controls are well-placed and easy to use. After a session or two of practice shooting, you will be able to operate the controls like a pro. Finally, there is of course a color LCD screen that shows you the picture you just shot. There are additional controls that allow you to scroll through all your pictures, delete those you don't want, and save those you want to keep. Again, it is all very easy to learn. Coming from a film camera background, I found this editing feature to be the best aspect of digital photography, for there is no guessing as to whether you got the shot or not - it is right there on the screen in living color! If you don't like the exposure or cropping, simply take another one! In digital photography, there is no "wasting film"! All in all, this is a solid digital camera that will please anyone interested in getting into digital photography. The price is very competitive considering the extensive options that Kodak packaged into this deal. If you are just getting into digital photography or are looking to upgrade to a higher megapixel camera, the Easy share will not disappoint you. I highly recommend it. Jim Konedog Koenig |
From a Novice PhotographerThis is the best purchase I have ever made! I am so pleased with this digital camera I am not even using my new Minolta! I highly reccommend this camera to anyone that is just learning about photography - it is very user friendly and loads of fun.
|
Excellent camera for the priceIf you're an amateur or professional photographer, this camera is for you. It has point and shoot with auto mode, adjustable white balance, ISO, and lots of scene modes. It has 10x zoom to get up close and personal, with 5x more digital zoom (though it's not recommended you use digital zoom much as it pixellates your image).
PROS: - 10x zoom - Fast shooting - Lots of scene modes CONS: - Flash pops up every time you turn it on - Viewfinder is electronic |
Superb CameraI have used a number of digital cameras at work and have owned one for years. All three of my children have digital cameras and I have used them as well. But this camera is by far the best, easiest to use and the pictures in all types of situations are really great. I love it.
|
unbeatable for the moneyi am by no means an expert but this camera continues to impress me. easy to use, not too big or too small and the prints from the printer dock have wonderful color and clarity. using the digital zoom can take some getting used to only because it is hard to hold the camera still enough without the use of a tripod to get a clear pic. i would highly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a digital camera with top end performance with mid range price, printer dock is well worth the money. more than enough features to keep you busy for a long time. i love it! i cannot believe i lived so long without it.
|
Kodak 10X zoom digital cameraThe camera works perfectly and is easy to use, as well as easy to set up the software on the PC. The only downside may be the lack of image stabilzation. Inside pictures using a flash were blurred on a number of shots, however that could be because the setting I was using was not the correct one or that I did not hold the down the shutter for focus before taking the picture.
|
Truly is EASY...Great product. Easy and fun for a beginner like me. Takes fabulous pictures!
|
Great camera at a great priceI took time to review many different models. I and my family are average users, looking for the best price versus features versus ease of use. After reading the rave reviews of the Z740 I decided to purchase it. Amazon had the best price hands down--about $30 less than anyone else. There was no sales tax required with Amazon, and it was delivered inside of 4 days (free shipping).
We have not been disappointed! This camera is very easy to use, and it takes amazing pictures. With 10X optical zoom and 5 megapixels, the clarity and color are superb. TIP#1: Forget digital zoom when you evaluate cameras--digital zoom makes little dots bigger and is fairly useless because the pictures become less crisp when using digital zoom. You want as much optical zoom as you can get. TIP#2: Get extra storage for your pictures. I purchased a 1 GB SD card at Staples (about $65 after rebates and discounts) and can easily store at least 400 high quality pictures. As a bonus I decided to subscribe to the Kodak Gallery ([...]) to share the pictures we take--a great service and easy to use. This is a great camera, and Amazon is a great company. A very satisfying online purchase. |
Well worth the price for the bundleI bought this camera/printer bundle for a friend. The battery on the first camera received would not stay charged more than a few hours. Contacted kodak who said it was defective and to return it to vendor. Amazon accepted the return and sent a replacement within 3 days. Second camera is great. Excellant pictures and the printer works great too.
|
great cameraI love this camera. I'm very happy with this product and highly recommend it for others. As with most digitals the camera's only downfall is the delay.
|
camerazoom is terrific. battery life is average. my new camera was the envy of the other digital camera owners.
|
A NEW WORLD FOR ME !This has been an awesome experience ! I am still learning all the operations; but the manual explains everything wonderfully.
Purchased for multiple reasons: grand-daughter, new pup, outside activities, still pics (eBay & more) I am LOVIN' IT !!! Learning something new everyday. Always wanted a photography "hobby", but never really had a nice camera that would do all that I would have liked to be able to do. THIS ONE DOES IT ALL (AND MORE TO COME!). Haven't really used the video much; but so far, so good. I also like the fact that I can upgrade memory, lenses, etc. when I am ready to do so! Looking forward to days with this "baby" ! It has opened up a whole new world for me ! |
Another great Kodak cameraHaving purchased a Kodak easyshare camera for my daughter I knew the quality of their product. However, for my purposes the digital camera with the 10x optical zoom was a better fit for me. I recently used it to capture my son's first soccer game and I'm officially in love! The zoom was so outstading - it was like I was standing right next to him! Plus, with the "sport" feature I was able to take multiple pictures in a row in the zoom mode. The action sequence photos were crisp and focused. This camera is great. There is no shutter delay except as expected with the red-eye reduction and night mode. My only problem is that the flash pops up whenever I turn on the camera. Amazon sent me a second camera however the new camera also has this problem.(Amazon was excellent during this whole process - I received a new camera within 24 hours!) Kodak has informed that this is not supposed to happen - yet I'm reluctant to part with my new toy. We took movies of a "film" my kids made and the camera worked like a movie camera with over 5min. of filming time! I highly recommend this camera to anyone with chilren - I use it in so many different ways.
|
5 stars with a ?Camera works wonderful with one issue. The only issue I have and perhaps it's me the operator. But when shooting over water- not into the sun- I get whiteout in both viewing devices. Also the camear doesn't focus entirely, slightly blurred. Can anyone help?
|
Excellent PurchaseI love this camera! I have a large family and it always seems either someone forgets their camera, or they are the only ones who ever get to see the pictures - by the time they get developed it has been several months and no one cares any more. Anyway, the prints are excellent - clear and bright. The whole kit is perfect for someone who is out and about and likes their results quickly. I can't say enough good about this purchase. Even my husband who has a camera more than three times the price thinks this has been an excellent purchase. I will say the paper you have to use in the printer dock is more than just a little pricey. I suppose that is the most negative thing I can come up with. So enjoy!
|
great digital camera with a few flawsMy first foray into the digital camera world was also with a Kodak brand. I loved that camera, until I loaned it out and it came back ruined. The model was unfortunately discontinued, so I scouted all brands, but ended up back with Kodak and this particular model.
Selling points - (1) the price for a 5MP was very competitive; (2) the 10x zoom is amazing; (3) it comes with a great variety of photo-enablers which are very helpful to the point&shoot novice, but also can be used manually for the professional; (4) if the 10x capability isn't enough for you addtional lenses can be added. Drawbacks - (1) the size, I thought that it was smaller than it is, but with the 10x lens apparatus, it gets bulky; (2) a bit big and an awkward shape for storing in a backpack for quick access; (3) the lens cover is a drag, it doesn't stay on! - a better design would be one of those automatic lens close-ups. But, nonetheless, this is a fine camera for people who want an excellent value, many features and top quality pictures. |
Great Camera!!Previously, I owned a Canon digital that I was very happy with, but it was only a 2mp with 3x optical zoom. So if I was ever going to get a new one, I was going to upgrade. After having it for about 6 years, it has started to die on me. My job requires me to use and sell cameras and to develop film, so you can only imagine how hard it was for me not to buy a camera everytime I saw a new one come out. They only get better every year! I actually was in the market for the 6490 model, but it was discontinued, so then I was researching the 7590 and waiting for a good price. Then I found this one on the Kodak website, and it is almost exactly like the 7590, except it takes AA's instead of the rechargeable lithium battery, which I really wanted. After further looking I found a really good deal on the Z740 so I had to buy it! I will say that I am impressed with the life of the battery that came with it. I still haven't had to change it and I have had the camera for about two months. I have used both the viewfinder and the LCD screen and I have taken lots of video and still no dead battery. After selling and using digital cameras for over 6 years, I will have to say that this is one of the best! The only thing better would be an slr digital, but I don't have the $1,000 or more to pay for one and although I would like to be, I am not a professional photographer, so this one is perfect. Also, as an added note.. When I sell to customers that have never used a digital before, I usually suggest a Kodak, I have found that Kodak has the most user friendly cameras. Good Luck and I hope you find the perfect camera for you, I know I did!!!
|
Kodak Z740 Digital Camera ReviewI have had the camera for about one month and am quite pleased. It is my first digital camera but most of the functions are quite intuitive. There are two areas which are less than they could be: (1) the LCD screen is fixed; infrequently, it would be helpful if it could be pivoted due to light conditions, etc. and (2) the joystick takes some getting used to when processing settings under the menu. Both of these are minimized with experience. One last thing is the minimal picture size of 1.8 MP; this requires a filesize in excess of 450 KB to email a jpg image.
|
Love it!This camera is easy to use and takes fantastic photos and short video clips! The dock is also very user-friendly. This is our second digital camera (first was another brand), and this one is 100x better!
|
Love the 10x zoom!Couldn't be happier with this camera - I use the sports mode and the zoom at my daughters soccer games and I am continually told how great the pics are! Shutter speed is so much better than my old digital(Nikon Coolpix). It's very easy to use, downloading is a snap ... internal memory is WAY cool! I accidentally left the memory card (bought seperately) in my computer one day, but was thrilled when I remembered that I could use the internal memory to take pictures. I have used the camera a lot in the past month and still have not replaced the batteries. The lens cap does pop off a lot, but the strap keeps it from actually falling. I think it's a great camera for an average user like myself - not a novice or a pro. Overall, I am very satisfied with this camera.
|
I love this cameraI would recommend this camera and printer to anyone.. The picture quality is excellent and prints out photos with the same preciseness as viewed on the camera..
Great gift for someone you love... |
New Kodak CameraVery pleased with the new camera. The resolution is so much better than the old DC-120 that I had used in the past. Very easy
to operate, and so far it has been very reasonable on the battery life. Function is flawless, and I would recommend this camera for anyone, novice or experienced user. My only regret is that I did not purchase the docking station with the camera, and I will eventually add that as an option later on. Fantastic camera, very reasonable price, and produces impressive digital pictures Gary Glass - Sadieville, KY |
Good camera for the priceThe 10x optical feature and 5.0 mp lens with a price tag of $299 , i think its a great buy . I have used this camera for about a month now and everything about it looks good. The 2 burst modes are really handy. The best thing about it - keep it on Auto mode and it takes care of the rest . The movie quality is ok and the length depends on the size of your SD card. I have mine with a 1 gig PNY sd card and i can record video for upto 80 minutes at a stretch. The accessories include a D-22 adapter ($10 value) which makes it compatible with Kodak printer dock series 6000. The batteries that come with it are not rechargable , so better invest in a good battery charger. I would suggest a Kodak travel kit with it as it has bag, charger and two Ni-MH battery. Overall a good buy for the price compared to the other didgicams with 10x optical zoom.
|
AMAZING CAMERA!!THE 10X OPTICAL ZOOM IS UNBELIEVABLE. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF CONFUSING THE MUCH CLEARER OPTICAL ZOOM, FOR THE FUZZY "DIGITAL" ZOOM, THAT OTHER MANUFACTURERS TRY TO COMPARE TO. THE DIGITAL ZOOM IS VIRTUALLY USELESS! THIS CAMERA EVEN HAS AN INTERNAL MEMORY, SO IF YOU FORGET YOUR CARD, YOU CAN STILL TAKE PICTURES! IT TAKES PRETTY DECENT VIDEO WITH SOUND, AND IT'S BATTERY CONSUMPTION IS UNHEARD OF! (I'VE HAD MY CAMERA NOW FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS, I'VE USED IT ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND SINCE THEN, AND HAVE ONLY REPLACED THE BATTERIES ONCE!!)
|
z740Camera is excellent. Pictures are some of the best I have ever taken. The printer dock, though I feel is a little fragile, makes great pictures with superb colors.
In addition I would be remiss if I did state that this package orignally came damaged and Amazon replaced all but overnight. I am not accustomed to such outstanding customer service. |
This camera does so much!!I bought the Kodak z740 primarily for the high resolution and the 10x zoom, both of which are worth every penny. Once I got the camera, I discovered that it has far more to offer. It is surprisingly compact and lightweight. I found it easy to learn and operate, plus it has all the different shooting modes.
Here's what I love about it: 1)You can figure out how to use it with very little trouble. (But read the manual, to get some helpful tips.) 2)All the different shooting modes allow you to get shots you might otherwise miss. 3)The burst mode, for action shots is awesome. I was able to get sharply focused shots of ducks flapping their wings. 4)The camera has good ergonomic design; the grip is comfortable and the buttons can be worked with ease. 5)It is designed to accept accessories, such as filters and a wide angle lens. A couple of hints: 1)The flash pops up automatically when the camera is turned on. This is normal. If it bothers you, just hold your finger over it, when you power up. 2)The wide angle lens gets in the way of the flash, so wide-angle shots may come out too dark. If you switch the camera to night mode, it should solve this problem. 3)Kodak sells accessories for the camera, but they are pricey. Look on line for other companies that sell compatible accessories for less. 4)It's a great camera. Have fun with it!!! |
Don't buy kodakI have the immediate predecessor of this camera, the DX 6490. The autofocus stopped working during warranty and just after. The company wants $175 to fix what is now a 250 camera only two years old (cost me $600). Junk!

Easy to use with high qualityIf you are looking for a reasonably prices 10x zoom camera that is easy to use and takes great pictures then this is your camera. I looked around at several different types of camera's including Digital SLR but settled in on the Z740. For my general use picture taking it has enough features and quality. It is a little slow between pictures but that is not new to me as a digital camera owner. If you need to take hundreds of pictures a minute this is not your camera. The on screen descriptions when you change settings on the camera were a nice addition for me (I never knew what half the stuff on my last camera was for).

best digital camera before you go SLRBought the Kodak z740 because I'm not a professional photographer who knows the ins and outs of a SLR. Photography is somewhat of a hobby of mine, I enjoy touching up family pics with Adobe Photoshop. So when I was looking to upgrade from my HP 850, I found the Kodak z740. It has all the features anyone could wish for and they are easy to use. But best of all it has a 10x optical zoom lens, plus 4x digital zoom. It has presets for almost any photo situation such as, people indoors, people outdoors, landscape, landscape at night, portrait at night, beach (bright lighting), and more. It's so easy to use, I played with it for days before opening the owners manual. And the quality of the pictures is excellent, crisp, clean, and colorful. If you want a digital camera packed with great features, a wide optical zoom capability, and 5 megapixels, all for well under $400, then the Kodak z740 can't be beat.

It is OkayThis camera is for absolute beginners and people who want complete ease of use with no special preferences. If you do anything with graphic design, stay away from this camera! Their software is invasive and does not cooperate. I had to download patch and still it did not work. Kodak customer service is one of the worst. For this reason I would not recommend this camera. Camera shoots good pictures, no problem there. Of course any big zoom takes a lot of battery power. Lithium charger cost more money. I think it is better to spend a little more and get Canon with 10X zoom. I would not go with Sony, because their larger screens take more power and it is all about power conservation with digital cs.

The Kodak camera that loved the UKWhat that title means, is that the camera stayed behind in
Edinburgh, Scotland as my husband and I caught our flight home. But we are getting it back. The review I would write is that the camera is very easy to use. We loved using it for our two weeks in the U.K. We just happened to leave it behind. We found the camera to have some unique and wonderful features, such as the camera adjusted the picture when it was used sideways. A great camera for travel. I can't wait to have it back!!!!! |
there's one con that really makes me unhappythe one thing i really do not like is that you cannot zoom while filming video. this makes no sense to me as i would want to focus in on different things while filming. i understand that i'm buying it more for pictures but at 300 dollars i would at least expect to take video clips on trips.

Lovely replacement cameraI bought this camera to replace my Kodak DX4330 that was stolen earlier this year. I love how easy this camera is to use and the quality as well as zoom. The outside colors are wonderful. My only problem with the camera is the quality of the inside colors. I've tried various settings and they continue to come out rather a little dark unlike my 4330. I still love this camera though and wouldn't change it for any other camera. Thank you Kodak for another lovely camera. The 10x zoom is one of the things that got me to purchase this.
And I agree that I'd like to be able to zoom while filming, but the first time I used the video feature was at a United Way truck pull infront of my place of employment as I had to film and take photos. I was amazed at how well the video turned out. |
i love this cameraI got this Camera for my birthday and i love it! it is my first good camera. it takes nice clear pictures and it looks funky too(real professional). (...) it looks like a good deal. great camera.

Very happy!!I'm no professional- just have a couple of toddlers and love to take pictures of them. The object in motion setting is great to take pictures of them with, and the auto setting also takes very good pictures as well. It zooms in great to get close up shots of them from a good distance- they don't even know I'm taking their picture. I use the great, clear pictures for scrapbooking, printing and displaying, and for sending to relatives through email. I'm very happy with this purchase!

first digital cameramy husband and i bought this camera a week ago, and we love it. i definetly recommend this for first time digital users. after reading the manual and playing with the camera, and all its settings, i am completely used to all the differnt buttons. for those who've had problems with pictures they take inside..i'm not sure what the problem is. if the lighting isn't good in your home then use the nighttime setting. or read the manual and it'll tell you the best solution. and for those who were dissapointed that it doesn't zoom while taking video, all i have to say is....it's not a video camera.
i just wanted to let people know that this is definetly a great buy. and i have looked around and amazon does have this for the best price, compared to some other sites that sell it for 350 or higher. |
Finally...easy, great pictures from a digital camera! This is my third digital camera and I have to say that finally I have one that is worth its price. First of all, the preview screen has great resolution; this is not something I would think of as important, but compared to my previous 2MP camera, it is amazing how much of a difference it makes in taking a great picture to have a great preview. Also, the 10x optical zoom is what really allows you to take close ups without the picture looking like an 80's video game! Finally, the combined package with the printer makes actually getting the pictures OUT of the camera and onto paper (and we know we're all guilty of leaving them in there forever) so much easier. Who would have thought that all you really wanted were some 4x6 snapshots? Yes, we all like to have a large-size of some special pictures--and you can do that if you want to with it--but every picture does not have to be a masterpiece, so use the easy print feature with this camera and remember what it was like before digital cameras when you actually got a stack full of snapshots. If you're looking for a camera to replace film, this is the one.

Best Camera EverI received the camera today. Took several pictures and printed out the highest quality photos. I will never go to a photomat again. This camera is great for anyone who doesn't want to study a huge manual to begin using the product. It is so easy to use... I guess that's why they call it Easyshare. I LOVE IT!!

Quite possibly the best digital camera under $300 (for right now)Seldom does anyone ever find a product where EVERY single reviewer has given it a positive rating and positive feedback. That was one of my research criteria that swayed me into purchasing after I narrowing down the field of cameras I was looking at.
My search for a new digital camera started in May 05, when on a trip to London, I was frustrated by my older digital camera's (an Olympus) inability to zoom in tightly on far away objects. This in spite of the cameras large megapixel capture size, but only a 12x overall zoom (4x optical and 3x digital). I knew the key to my search was finding a consumer grade camera with a very high optical zoom, which not only lets you zoom in further, but the better the optical lens, the better your photos. The short list included cameras from the usual suspects, Canon, Nikon, and Olympus. The Kodak Z740 also made that list as it had comparable features, and comparable zoom, to the $450+ competitors. The one thing lacking in the Kodak, image stabilization, which is probably the one reason that the Kodak is priced quite a bit lower than its nearest competitors. I decided that image stabilization was not too important to me, and I am glad I made that choice. Afterall, I already own a tripod, so if composing a very detailed shot that requires the camera to be super steady, I can mount the camera and have all the stabilization I require. Problem solved. That said, the Kodak Z740 takes beautiful shots. It allows the user to tailor many settings in order to get things just right, and even in automode, the quality of the output is quite admirable. The SLR type body means is quite nice also, with the flash positioned directly above the lens and the flash is also pretty decent pop-up variety that does a very good job (unlike other digital cameras). Other cool features? The burst shooting modes work well and I am quite pleased with what I was able to achieve while focusing on a moving object in burst mode. Another nice feature is that standard 55mm lenses can be installed on the Z740 body with a lens adaptor. This again gives the Z740 lots of expandability and customization for the user. Grips? Lens cover sucks (as mentioned by others), it does not fit as well as it could. The LCD screen does not seem to provide true color in relation to the actual output of the photo. My older Olympus displayed colors MUCH better on the LCD. Like I said for under $300, this is probably the best camera you can purchase. If you are patient you can find it occasionally at name brand retailers for $240, which is the price I purchased at. |
Not Just Easyshare...It's Easy-To-UsePlayed with it for a few hours and have the hang of it. Very easy to use.

Overall good cameraThis is the first digital camera I have purchased and overall this is a great camera. Very durable and water resistant, works great in snow too, and holds up well when traveling, I use re-chargeable batteries and it has a great battery life. Without knowing anything about digital photography I have taken some fantastic pictures with this camera. The auto focus can be a little fussy and you definately need a tri-pod or some method of stabilizing the camera when going for a long zoom shot, I often use my wife to steady the camera. The easy share printer dock has performed fairly well, there have been a few instances of poor quality pictures but I think this is due to a little dust in the printer from traveling. The pictures are not photo lab quality but they are nice enough for on the go printing. A few reveiws mentioned the color being off sometimes but I attribute this to my lack of knowledge. I have bee able to adjust the pre-set options and resolved these issues. As well as poor lighting, my free version of photoshop resolved any lighting, and color issues related to my inexperience. My friend has the similar model with the black case and that camera has made consecutive trips to Afghanistan and Iraq and performed very well under these harsh conditions. If you are running Windows XP64 bit, there are no drivers at this time so you have to do trick you OS into talking to the camera through the easy dock printer. I e-mailed Kodak tech support and they wouldnt give me a straight answer when they were going to have 64bit drivers, they acted like it was a matter of national security and wouldn't give me a release date. Also, the camera does not come with a USB cable for camera to PC communication. Overall though, I have no complaints. It is a large camera, unless you really need the 10x optical zoom I would look at getting a smaller point and shoot digital. Also you don't need a 5mp camera for great 8x10's I have seen a 3.2mp camera soot great 8x10's.
|
Bad decisionI have had numerous digital cameras. I almost always go for a Canon, but Canon stopped making it's 5mp with 10x zoom. I read about the Kodak Z740 online and decided to buy it. I bought it on sale for $299 at OfficeMax. It was the worst decision I have ever made. It can not even come close to my Canon that only has 4mp and 5x zoom. Using zoom, you can not even tell what the picture is. The flash is HORRIBLE. Any photos I took with the flash turned out a blue color. The only decent photos shot with this camera were outside in bright sunlight with the flash off. Do not even try to look at the sample photos from users for this camera. There is NO WAY any of those are possible with the camera I bought. I will never buy another Kodak.
The people at OfficeMax were very nice about it, though. |
Good Quailty - Easy to usePicture quality is great, lots of options for a camera at this price and very easy to use. Only complaint is the "next-shot-delay" is quite long.
|
A good cameraThis is my first digital camera so I don't have much to compare to. I do know what I want though and researched for awhile before deciding on the Z740, mainly due to the balance of price and features.
My only complaints and the reason I don't give this product 5 stars are the lack of manual focus and the fact that the lens cap comes off way too easily. Otherwise, very happy! |
Nifty...lot of research, best cameraI researched cameras for about a month and came to find this one the best for what I was going to use it for. I am not great with electronics and this camera was made for electronically challenged people like me. I am taking a trip to Ausrtralia this summer and needed a camera that could take pictures quickly and was easy to navigate through in a hurry. I didn't want to miss the oppertunity of a life time. This camera can take pictures so quickly and you can press the review button and in a flash look at what you had just taken. My favorite feature is the explanation of the differant picture modes. It even has grass, snow, sky, children, party, and many others. This camera also has a tv hook up to do a slide show. All you have to do is plug in your cords to the tv and turn your camera on. This was amazing. You set your camera up ahead of time- select which pictures and how long you want the intervols to be(which is very easy). There is also the option to create folders for your pictures. I have a folder for holiday and one for Australia so far. This camera has alot of features, but not too many to confuse you. It also is easy to hold with one hand so you can do something else too. As far as I know it hasn't eaten up batteries, which is a big plus! This camera is great all the way around for a begginer such as myself.
|
Awesome Camera - Sweet PriceAfter looking at entry level SLR cameras, I chose the Easyshare Z740.... and man am I glad I did! This camera does everything it claims, and more! So far I've just been taking nature, wildlife, and sports pictures. They all turn out great. I'm ordering a telephoto lens for mine today so I can get even closer to the wildlife in the ozarks! Buy - You won't be dissapointed! Oh, you can see my photos on Enairo.com soon!

Great camera for a good pricePros: The zoom on this camera is really nice, digital zoom is better than I expected, many manual options, small file size, good battery life, good color, good quality movies, 2 AA batteries. I have used it for 2 months with no major problems.
Minor Cons: Lens cap comes off easily, Too much redeye indoors. Flash is back far on the camera, which can cause the light to be blocked on close up macro shots, No image stabilizer. |
What a great camera!I recieved this camera for my birthday and know that I made the right choice! It is so powerful and very simply laid out. I also really love its incredibly far zoom (50x).The Kodak Z750 includes many shooting modes that are wonderful because they always suit your location.
The only conflict that I have with this camera, is that the batteries run out quickly. But with rechargable batteries, you will do just fine. |
No AC AdapterThe camera works fine, but now we have to shell out more $$$ for the AC adaptor/charger. The review says it's included. It's not!
|
What a great little cameraFirst off, mine came with the lense cap, neck strap, rechargable battery, USB cable, dock adapter, a full sized user's guide and a software cd. Pictures can be transfered via a USB cable or by removing the memory card and inserting in your computer/printer/memory card reader. I love this little camera and it has alot of different picture settings from sports, landscape, snow, ect. Very nice and very easy to use.
|
Lots of features! This is my first digital camera and I think it's great. I was disappointed at first by the sports shots I was taking (low light, fast action) but after fooling around with the editing software I am now able to get the results I want.
I have also used the closeup lens a lot and think it works well. This is a very easy camera to use. The real strenght of the lens is evident when you print the results on good digital photo paper. |
Idiot proofThis is the second easy share z740 i have purchased. It is so easy takes crisp pictures, and is heavy duty. Get the easyshare printer dock and you wont be disapointed.
|
Great camaraI bought it after reading several reviews (other than Amazon) and the reviewers could only find minor issues. It does not have image stablizing (like any other camera at that price) but I couldn't tell, all my images were sharp, even at maximum zoom. A few other friends also used it and produced visually pefect images. One image so far had slight blurr at the fringe but it's not very easy to detect.
|
Great pictures, Easy to use!I just got this Kodak Z740 5MP camera for Christmas after reading the reviews on Amazon.com and am very impressed. The picture quality is crisp and clear. I had a Cannon and while it took nice quality pictures, it was so difficult to interpret the various menus. Kodak has done a wonderful job of laying out the menu in such a simple way. It is easy to use and you dont have to wait 5 seconds for the picture to snap either. I highly recommend this camera. The only negative point I have to make is that the lens cover comes off too easily, so make sure you get a good camera case to protect the lens cover from being bumped.
|
Best camera on the market!I won't type a million words, all you have to know about this camera is, it the best camera I have tried. Takes an awesome picture, and it doesn't matter if its sunny or dark you can adjust for all. If you want the best you can't go wrong with this one. I paid 299.99 through Amazon.com and got 512MB card with it.
|
A very cheap camera for it excellent lensAll the functions convert these camera in a semi professional instrument for all who wants to learn to take good pics. Its a gift
|
amazingI've owned several camera's over the years and this is by far the best camera I have ever owned! There are so many setting to use it's practically impossible to take a bad picture. If you are interested in an easy to use but fully featured camera than this is the camera for you! Amazing!
|
great camera, easy to useSimple to use, clear pictures and great features. The close-ups are especially impressive. A quick flip through the manual explains all of the features. It has all of the options you'd like to see in a camera for "regular people," and if you get the dock, it's easy to share and print pictures. The "scene" settings make it easy to set up a shot no matter what the circumstances. We previously used a Kodak Easy Share c330 and decided to upgrade. It was a good choice. The larger lens and 10x zoom really improves the pictures. A great choice for a family camera at a good price.
|
Nice price on a pretty decent camera. As someone who is mainly taking pictures of my family for memories sake, I was looking for a camera with around 5 mega pixels and a zoom lens. The z740 had the features I was looking for, and didn't cost a bundle. So far, I am very satisfied with the quality of pictures that it takes, however THERE ARE DOWNSIDES.
First it takes a while to boot up, not forever, but for a guy like me who is used to a quick film camera, it seems like forever. And the power saving feature (which I do believe is mostly a good thing) requires you to restart the camera after a few minutes of not shooting. Then when it's time for a picture.. oops you have to turn it on. This feature can be turned off, but then you waste battery life. Also the write speed seems a bit slow. Overall I think THE PROCESSOR IS A BIT SLUGGISH. Another problem is that the screen is pretty small. You probably wouldn't notice this unless you compare it to it's more expensive counterparts. Finally, the whole Kodak EasyShare thing is really retarded. It does for your camera what AOL does to the internet. That is it limits you to using it's software, it's website etc. If you know how to use a computer, my advice to you is don't install the software! Overall, for a novice photographer who wants to make great prints this is a good buy. |
Kodac Z740We purchased this camera prior to a family trip to Las Vegas. We took over 100 pictures which varied from bright daylight to indoor and outdoor casino pictures. The multiple (easy to use) settings allowed us to quickly change from one setting to another. The Kodak software (inclued) makes the tranfer of pictures automatic and painless, with several options on picture modification. I would recommend this 5.0 MP camera for anyone, regardless of camera skills. I would further recommend you either purchase the Kodac rechargable battery system or buy the Energizer system with a minimum 2000 mAh battery. Disposible batteries do not last long in this camera, the rechargable batteries lasted an average of 4X longer, which is much more reliable and prevents the loss of "that perfect Kodak moment" with the children.
|
Good cameraThis product has lived up to my expectations, very easy to use and I look forward to using it often. I suggest for anyone looking for a good camera for the average photographer
|
My Kodak Easyshare Digital CameraThis is the second one I have purchased and I think it's outstanding.
|
pretty pretty goodi never liked the idea of digital cause i'd think it would be to complicated to print and do everything.
my familie convinced me to try it and this camera is so simpel and efficient and makes great quality pictures and films up to 1 hour with the 512 card which is the best way to go. i really like it a lot |
Great cameraI bought this camera right before our family trip to Disney World and it was perfect. High end functionality but VERY user friendly and lightweight. Definitely a good camera for those who want to be able to do some different types of photography as well as just point and shoot.
|
A lot of function without a lot of weight, great value!I ordered this camera after doing a lot of research both online and visiting local stores. I couldn't be happier with my choice. The Z740 camera works great and is very simple to operate, I was able to start taking great pictures immediately.
This is my second digital camera and I'm impressed with the improvements in technology over my old DC4800, particularly the speed of snapping a picture...not missing those "Kodak Moments" anymore! The Zoom is awesome! You need to be very steady or maybe use a tripod to avoid blurry shots...practice. The flash is great, doesn't wash out the subject. For me, this is a perfect fit! The free SD card saved me some $$ as well. I bought the Kodak battery charger travel kit at my local Target store, the camera fits well in the small bag and the rechargeable batteries are a must. I recently took this camera with me to NYC and had a blast taking a wide variety of pictures indoors, outdoors, daylight, dark, people (co-workers..moohahaha) and cityscapes. Picture quality is beyond my expectations and most were taken in auto mode, I can't wait to explore more of the features. I have to agree with one of the "downsides" posted here, the lens cap does come off way too easily, which puts you at risk for scratching the lens, be sure to get a filter to protect it. Overall, a great camera for a good price! |
Great little cameraI love this camera ~ it's very easy to use and the book gives all the information you might need. It's also light-weight and portable which help when on vacation. My first time out with it was to the San Diego zoo and I got some great close-up shots (some of them even through the plexiglass) with the powerful zoom.
|
Kodak Z740This is a fine camera and worth the price. It's easy to use and provides very good quality prints.
|
Love this camera!Every time I take the camera out and about for picture taking someone ultimately says "hey, nice camera". And it is. There are so many features Im still learning how to use them. I am definitely electronically challenged but the camera is easy to use. I Love the fact that I can take black and whites as well as color pictures. The digital zoom is amazing. I can capture so much detail. The only frustrating thing is the bulk of the camera. I recently went on a ski trip and didnt take alot of action photos on the slopes because I was afraid I would damage the camera if I fell. Its not like you can slip this thing in your pocket. It comes with a neck strap, which is good, for walking around with the camera but certainly not skiing around with it. Its a good price for the camera but because it is still expensive I feel I have to guard over it. The 1GB memory card I bought with the camera holds an unbelievable amount of pictures. The camera counts down the pictures you can take. Ive taken 180 pictures so far at 5megapixels. The camera says I have 600 more to go before memory is full.
|
High-end features, good price...and a couple flawsThe Kodak Z740 was my first digital camera. I had experience using a Nikon SLR and various different Olympus, Canon, and Kodak models. I was looking for something with a good zoom, because I hate not being able to get a picture I want when I am too far away. This was the cheapest of the 10X+ optical zoom cameras that I found so I thought I would take look at it.
Pros: 1. 10X zoom 2. a lot of shooting modes (4 main types, 12or so more in the SCN function and also manual PASM) 3. Kodak color 4. easy to use format 5. comfortable feel 6. good size screen (not great but very adequate) 7. PRICE! Cons: 1. Lens Cap (it has two big buttons which make it easy to remove but also is easily knocked off with the slightest pressure on even one button. 2. EVF is a bit grainy 3. Burst mode is a bit slow and you tend to shoot blind (CNET review) but not a huge issue unless the object you are using the burst mode for is moving at a rapid pace and in an unpredicatable direction. Will be interesting to see if the slowness improves when I recieve my high performance SD card. 4. Perhaps the biggest flaw is the lack of image stabilization. The Higher end cameras in the same category to the Z740 all have it. If you ever try to shoot a moving target at 10X Zoom it could be very difficult. This feature is what makes this camera 4 instead of 5 stars. Unfortunately if you want image stabilization it will most likely cost you $100 more for a camera with it and all the features this camera has. |
Very satisfied for the money! Very simple to use!I actually bought two of these cameras in the last month. My daughter is taking a beginning photography class and so we bought her one for her birthday. I loved her camera so much that I bought one for my upcoming birthday. It is a very simple camera to use with a lot of features for a reasonable price. I did buy both of ours on ebay for the price of $250.00 and that included shipping. Both were new and not refurbished. I am obviously not a professional photographer, so I enjoy the simple instructions. It includes several scene modes to make it very simple to get the best picture with very little knowledge but also has all the manual settings for those who know specifics of what they want. The 10x optical zoom I found was also great for the money. It may sound silly but another thing that I really like is you can use just plain batteries or regular Ni-MH rechargeable AA batteries that you can buy in any store instead of some fancy camera batteries as so many cameras call for. I have just truly enjoyed this camera all the way around, as has my daughter.
|
love this camera and prtinter dockI have really enjoyed this camera. It is really easy to use and takes exceptional pictures, and the printer dock is an added plus. I don't have to go to store to print off pictures, I can have them instantly, plus can share with my family members. The paper and cartridge is very good priced on Amazon, haven't found it cheaper any where else.
|
Great camera at a good priceI just got this camera to use "on the job"--for crime scene photography. It takes great photos and the zoom lens (10X optical) is really good as well.
Taking 5.0 MP photos you can zoom in (or blow them up) and get really good detail. I like this camera for field work because it will take AA batteries (though Kodak doesn't recommend alkaline batteries) in addition to the lithium battery that came with the camera. The Z740 has an EVF, or Electronic Viewfinder. With the exception of single-lens reflex cameras, when you look through the viewfinder what you see is slightly offset from what the lense is seeing. Basically an EVF is a second LCD screen that you look at through the "viewfinder," so you're seeing the same thing the lens is. The EVF uses less battery power than the external LCD screen, and is of course shielded from sunlight, though the external screen does better in sunlight than most cameras' screens do. As far as I can tell, the camera won't take images in RAW (uncompressed) format. That's a negative if you're using them for crime scene analysis, but not an issue for the average photographer. As with most digital cameras in this price range, you cannot connect an external flash, either. The proprietary software that comes with the camera is easy to use and the images download easily. The camera is also "plug-and-play," meaning Windows will recognize the camera even without Kodak's software installed, and you can download images that way. |
Great Camera!!!!This is a great camera that takes great pictures. It is very easy to use, and you don't need to know much about camera to use it. Definetly recommend!
|
Great camera!Easy to use right out of the box but don't throw away those instructions. This camera does so much that you need the book to remember it all. The pictures and crisp and clear just as 5.0 mp pictures should be. This camera takes movies with sound also. All digital cameras make some kind of sound when you turn them on, sort of like their little trademark. This camera is the only one I've seen that lets you set it to make the sound you like. Personally, I like the scifi sound. This camera has many presets that you can choose from so all you have to do is point and shoot. If you like creating the settings yourself you can do that too. There is even a mode that makes camera operation silent so that you can take pictures in environments where there should be no noise like museums or churches. In that mode, the flash won't fire either. Print size can be up to 40x60 inches.
This camera is way cool. I'm sure the experts may find a few flaws but if you're just plains folks that like to take pictures like me, you'll enjoy it. |
A couple of little problemsI concur with most of the comments here. I write only to point out a couple of things which differ in the Z740 as compared with the earlier DX6490 model. While some consider it a good feature, it annoys me that the flash opens every time you turn the camera on, since I prefer to shoot with available light whenever possible. Of a bit more concern, if you prefer to use the viewfinder rather than composing pictures with the rear screen, as I do, and if you prefer to use your left eye, as I do, the zoom control is too close to the viewfinder to be easily accessible. You either have take the camera away from your eye to set the zoom, or use your right eye. Not a deal-breaker, by any means, but, again, an annoyance.

Kodak makes a winnerWhen I was shopping for a digital camera I was mostly looking at the Asian makes. I then read a report in Consumers Report that was very favorable to the Kodak camera. At the camera displays in the stores and office supplies I usually ended up talking to folks that already had a camera and were looking to upgrade. All those that had a Kodak were buying another Kodak ,while those who owned other makes were mostly looking at other makes then their present camera and some were looking at the Kodaks. My son told me about Amazon.com and the price was right and I ordered. I'm very pleased with the service from Amazon and extremely happy with the Z740 Kodak camera. It has more features then I wanted, but now that I have it I love having those features. I will continue buying Kodak products and will continue shopping at Amazon.com

Wonderful all around CameraI read many reviews and chose the Kodak z740, I'm very glad I did, got the 1 gig memory card also and found I can shoot up to an hour in video!
This is my 3rd digital camera, 1st was Olympus, 2nd Minolta. I was looking for something that took the picture NOW! As opposed to 3 seconds later. Being a parent, this was very important to me. Decent picture quality and very easy to use, this camera is a real treasure, I haven't found another camera with 10x zoom and this picture taking speed for this price. It acts alot like my old SLR's. Push the button halfway down to focus, and then the rest of the way to take the picture. No waiting, it takes the picture right away! Thank You Kodak!!! My suggestions would be to get a uv filter to protect the lens and a 1 gig card if you need video. For my Son's 22nd birthday I recorded his reaction to another video about him and it was downloaded into my daughters laptop in minutes! Very easy to share and transfer files. Would buy it again!! |
GREAT FOR BEGINNERSThis was my first digital camera and I love it. After years of having a film SLR I was skeptical about moving up to a digital. I was afraid that the pictures just wouldn't compare. The digital SLRs are just so expensive and I wasn't sure how I would do with digital. I wanted something with the ease of point and shoot but with option to go at least semi-manual. This camera is perfect. The price can't be beat. I have taken some absolutely beautiful photos and the quality is exceptional. The 5 MP is just fine and handles an 8x10 with ease and even has the ability to be blown up larger than that w/o losing picture quality. The sport setting is awesome as long as you get focused at the correct distance before the action starts. The battery that came with the camera has lasted so much longer than I expected it to. I have had the camera for over a month and shot hundreds of pics without the battery going dead yet. Overall, it is has been a great camera to start out with. I will move up to a DSLR one of these days but for now I couldn't be happier with my Z740.

Great for ANYONE!!I was very worried about purchasing a new digital camera. I wanted to make sure it was a quality product and that most importantly, the pictures were of high quality. I looked at so many different brands, Fuji, Cannon, Nikon, Olympus; and everytime, I came back to the Kodak. My previous camera was a Kodak and I still have it and still use it on occasion.
This camera is truly amazing. All the different settings that you have to choose from are GREAT and they are so simply, my 8 year old niece can use it. If you get this camera, you will not be disappointed. The important features that I was really looking for were: Picture Quality Video Capabilities Easy to use Optional Flash Portability Those were the ones that I wanted in my future camera and I definitely found them in this one. The video feature is even better than my previous camera and this model has a playback with the audio! Which was exciting for me. I would recommend this camera to my friends and family highly!! |
GREAT CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What a wonderful camera!!!! After reading many of the reviews I decided to buy it. Best buy I have ever bought.. Very, very, very pleased. yeeeeeeeeeeeesssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great value - super productI was looking for MY first Digital camera, were I work we have several brand and models, but this one has most of the features that the more expensive models have. The 10x zoom is awesome! Dream machine. Easy to use programs for the average user and lots of options for the over average one.
I do lots of sports and I love the multi frame capabilities of the camera, 2 frames per seccond and can either take the first or the last 4 so you can pick the best one. 0.4 secconds per picture and if you use an additional memory the internal serves as cache so you can keep taking pictures while the camera saves them. Be aware that the flash only works in the first picture under frame mode. I can tell that it has a really fast proccessor unit because when I review a picture and I play with the zoom and the pan it does it really fast. The overall response of the machine is quick. I would love to have the histogram, but not available, if you really need it buy the Z7590, it does have it. |
Cool Gadget!I bought this gadget for new year eve. This digicam is user friendly. I can use it even without read the manual. It 10x-zoom so sophisticated. The weakness is we cannot set printed time on still mode, it is active on video mode only. So, only DATE can be printed on still picture, not TIME.

The best camera for a great price!Nice and easy to use. Also has a glass lense. You can buy lense adapters to add more optical zoom to the already great zoom. I love it.

The best camera that I saw until nowI think that is the best digital camera produced until 2006.
may be in the future we will see something beter but now... The pictures are perfect. It has Big zoon in. It is Easy to operate and share your pic. Low battery use. I don't have more word to explain. It is perfect. |
Windows XP problemI have a different model Kodak camera, however they all use the same EasyShare software. Running Windows XP, I could not get the software to work properly. After several hours on the phone with Kodak tech support, they couldn't get it working either. They said they are aware of the problem on some computers running Windows XP. It is now several weeks later and they still don't have a fix. They don't really seem to care either.
It might not be a bad idea to consider other brands, instead of Kodak. Since, if the software won't work properly, then what good is the camera? |
A good camera with a few weak pointsI have a large (35 mm size) digital camera which my spouse really dislikes because of the weight and size. I happened upon the Kodak Z740 on sale and bought it because of its small size, good optical zoom, and relatively high pixel count. After using it for a few hundred pictures and a few videos, I find it to be a mix of good features and weaknesses.
The good points are: 1. The camera takes good pictures, with good color, under a variety of lighting conditions. 2. The auto ISO works well with the flash so that you can get a well lit flash picture indoors even at some distance. This is important because the flash on small cameras is usually not very powerful. 3. The 10X optical zoom was very important to me to be able to reach across a room to get a closeup. 4. With a 1G SD card, you can take over 600 pictures before the card even thinks of filling up. 5. The video feature is fun and works well, and records sound pretty good. A video does not use up excessive memory. 6. It's easy to access the shutter and f-stop controls in program mode. In fact, all of the controls are easy to use, and the menu for setup is easy to understand. The weaknesses are: 1. The camera takes too long to start up. If you have the camera turned off and have a picture to take, you'll probably miss the shot. |
