Habe die Dimage Xi nun seit 14 Tagen und bin begeistert. Man kann sie wirklich überall dabei haben und dennoch hat sie ein lichtstarkes Dreifach-Zoomobjektiv. Konnte bei wirlich wenig Licht ohne Blitz wunderbare Fotos schießen, ohne verwackeln! Das wäre bei einer normalen KB-Kamera unmöglich gewesen! Da war ich echt überrascht. Wer wie ich die Fotos fast ausschließlich am PC betrachten und präsentieren will, käme auch gut mit der Dimage X mit 2 Megapixel aus und spart ca. 200 Euro.
Die Bildqualität ist hervorragend; Schärfe, Farbe und Kontrast beeindrucken. Überraschend viel Spaß machen auch die kleinen Videosequenzen, die Tonqualität könnte dabei jedoch besser sein, das wäre technisch ohne weiteres machbar.
Aufgrund der ungewöhnlichen Abmessungen braucht man doch geraume Zeit, sich eine andere Handhaltung anzueignen, ansonsten ist der Finger leicht vor dem Objektiv und/oder deckt das Mikrofon auf der Oberseite der Kamera ab. Aber das ist reine Gewohnheit.
Eine wirklich erstaunliche "immer-dabei"-Kamera!

Mit voller Sehnsucht habe ich die Dimage Xi ausgepackt und in Betrieb gesetzt. Ich bin seit Jahren Benutzer einer Canon Ixus Digital und wollte mal eine noch leichtere und kleinere Kamera mit einer höheren Auflösung. Die DimageXi erfüllt alle diese Ansprüche.
Leider ist die Kamera nicht nach ergonomischen Gesichtspunkten gestaltet, sodaß man eigentlich fast zwei Hände zur Bedienung braucht (ich schaffe das bei der Canon Ixus mit einer).
Außerdem könnte die Kamera ein bißchen bessere Farben liefern. Die Bilder werden eindeutig zu blaß abgelichtet.

Ich bin nun wieder zurück bei meiner alten Canon Ixus Digital.

Für mich war beim Kauf der Kamera wichtig, dass sie klein ist.
Und eines kann man sagen: die Dimage Xi ist definitiv klein!
Kleiner ist meies Wissens lediglich die Casio Exilim S2, aber die hat keinen optischen Zoom und nur 2 Megapixel.

Schön ist auch die Auto-Reset-Funktion:
Je nach Einstellung setzt sich die Kamera nach Einschalten auf die Grundeinstellungen zurück oder sie behält die den Zustand vor dem Ausschalten bei.
Gut, dass man das wählen kann.

Die Bildqualität ist nach meinem Empfinden klasse. Insbesondere finde ich den eigenlich recht kleinen Blitz sehr kraftvoll.
Ebenfalls bestätigen kann ich ihn darin, dass man leicht einen Finger vor die Linse bekommt. Und wenn man den Finger nicht auf der Linse hat, dann eben automatisch auf dem Mikrofon.
Da ist Disziplin gefragt :-)
Andererseits benutze ich das Mikrofon eigentlich auch nicht.

Jedenfalls ist sie sehr leicht bedienbar, bietet reichlich Einstellungsoptionen und macht einfach Spass.
Eine Kamera, die man eben immer dabei haben kann.

Rechnet nur noch eine weitere Speicherkarte dazu,
16 MB sind bei einer solchen Kamera einfach zu klein.

Bei den Akkulaufzeiten sehe ich das etwas schlechter.
Ich kann zwar nich nicht sagen, wie lange die nun hält... dafür probier ich einfach noch viel zuviel. Aber 160 Fotos mit rumspielen und Blitz und angucken schafft die wohl nicht.
Also noch ein 2. Akku :-)

Wie auch immer, ich hoffe es ist trotzdem deutlich geworden, dass ich mit meinem Kauf mehr als zufrieden bin.

Ich hatte schon einige Digitalkameras und bin von der Ixus auf die noch kompaktere Dimage umgestiegen. Die Dimage begeistert mich. Eine äussert kompakte, elegante, intuitiv bedienbare, diskrete point-and-shoot Digitalkamera.

Die Bedienung ist einfach, je ein Menü für Aufnahme und Abspielen mit Untermenüs. Die kurzen Filmsequenzen (35 Sekunden mit Ton) machen Spass, auch wenn der Ton nicht grade HiFi ist. Die Farben tendieren ins Warme. Von den Bildsequenzen her ist die Kamera schnell, allerdings braucht sie ca. 2 Sekunden Vorlauf für den Blitz, was manch eine schnelle Aufnahme unmöglich macht. Der Auslöser ist nicht zu hören, und so gelingen auch unentdeckte Fotos. Der Akku ist ausgezeichnet, er hält spielend Foto- und Videoaufnahmen auf 128 MB Disk mit, auch wenn zwischendurch viel gelöscht und abgespielt wird. Das Ladegerät ist schnell und zeigt an, wenn der Akku voll aufgeladen ist.

Für die Software grosses Lob, am Mac wird die Kamera automatisch erkannt und die Aufnahmen werden sofort in die Bilder- bzw Videosordner sortiert. Photoshop light, erste Wahl für jeden, der Bilder bearbeiten will, liegt bei.

Anfangs hat allerdings jeder, der die Kamera benutzt, die Finger in der Aufnahme, denn das Gerät ist sehr dünn und die Linse am oberen Rand angebracht, deshalb für den 2 Sekunden Blitzvorlauf und die Fingerfotos einen Abzug in der B-Note..

Great camera. Easy to use, easy to retrieve pictures (no software needed! just drag and drop), and very compact.

So compact that I left it in my pocket and it went through the washer and dryer... doesn't work anymore (though I suspect its only the battery).

oh, btw: Battery life is lacking.

I was looking for a small camera that I could shove in a pocket and take wherever I went so that if a photo oportunity came about, I would have a camera ready. I was low on money, and found this camera refurbished. I read lots of reviews and compared this camera to other cameras with the same features. Buying this camera is definitely not a mistake! I have the basic case and an extra battery, and since the batteries only take about an hour and a half to charge I always have one ready when the battery in the camera dies (Which is usually after a full day of continuous photography).
The camera is incredible rugged, I have dropped it on more than one occasion, and it still works. Whether I am in school, at home, or pretty much anywhere, this I know that I am sure to get a good picture.
Now to adress some of the problems that people say this camera has:
1. anemic flash - Although the flash is a little wimpy, when you use it within about 12 feet of your subject it is fine.
2. picture quality - the picture quality is as good as any 3.2 megapixel camera. It just depends what setting you have it on. I always keep mine of the largest picture and fine quality(next level below tiff). If you are complaining about image quality, get a film camera, and wait until digital cameras get better. Film is the equivalent of about 15-20 megapixels.
3. 16 megabyte card - duh, you can't get many pictures on here that are even somewhat decent in quality. No matter what camera you buy, you will still have to buy a larger card if you want a good amount of pictures. I have a 256 megabyte card that holds 160 pictures on fine and about 38 in tiff mode.
4. Finger in the picture - yeah, I agree that if you have big hands this can become a problem. The best way to hold this camera, is to use the controls and take the picture with your right hand and hold the bottom left hand corner of the camera with your left hand to steady it.
5. this camera is not for professionals - I agree. If you want all the controls of a manually controlled camera, keep looking, however, the autofocus does do a nice job, and I don't understand why a camera with more things to adjust would be better for snapshots and and active lifestyle.
All in all, this camera is truly one of the most handy electronic gadgets that I can think of and I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA TO ANYONE.

Overall this camera takes very good pictures and it is very compact. The only downside if any is when taking pictures in low light. Using flash the image is slightly underexposed and clor balance slightly off(can be easily corrected digitally later). In low light there is some noise at max resolution. If the image size is reduced to 2MP this noise is not seen but it reduces the resolution.
Overall very satisfied with the camera. I have also used a1000mA AC adapter at 4.5V to power it and it works fine.

Believe it or not.. I left the camera in the pocket of my shorts (it is soooo compact), and sent it through the complete wash cycle int he washer. To my complete amazement, the camera (including the battery and memory card) worked perfectly (after I let it dry for a day).

As another reviewer already noted, this camera is easily damaged by sand. Its much touted "internal folded zoom lens" has a number of small plastic gears that are exposed internally in its aluminum case. The case is not well sealed, so sand can get in there easily. And a few grains is all that takes to hose it. I took mine on my last vacation, and although I never actually took it to beach, a few sand specks in my pocket made their way into the camera. Took it apart and used compressed air to try to clean it, but no luck. What is the point of a miniature camera that must be stored in a hermetic case or bag?

Die Minolta Dimage XI ist eine wirklich gute Digitalkamera, allerdings sollte man sich einen Schutz dazukaufen, da sie sehr empfindlich ist.
Ich hatte sie auf Skitouren, Segeltörns und Urlauben mit - und genauso sieht sie auch aus.

Meiner Kamera fehlen Schrauben und da diese so klein sind, dass sie sich einfach verflüchtigen und man merkt es erst dann, wenn die Kamera schon fast auseinanderfällt. (Ich habe sie mit Tixo geklebt...)

Die Minolta Dimage XI hat einen sehr guten Zoom, man muss sich dabei nur mit der Auflösung spielen, sonst erlebt man am Computer beim Ansehen der gemachten Fotos eine Enttäuschung.

Vom Blitz her gibt es verschiedene Möglichkeiten zu fotografieren:
Blitz Auto: Die Digitalkamera blitzt wenn es zu dunkel ist und blitzt nicht, wenn es hell genug ist.
Rote-Augen-Blitz: Es kommt ein "Vorblitzen" damit sich die Augen darauf einstellen und dann ein ganz normaler Blitz - so verhindert man rote Augen.
Blitz und Ohne Blitz sind glaube ich klar.

Leider geht dem Akku (Minolta Lithium Ion Battery 3.7V 750mAh - wer damit was anfangen kann) sehr schnell der Saft aus, sodass man nach einem Tag heftiger Foto-Schiesserei den Akku wieder aufladen muss.

Ich würde die Minolta Dimage XI jedem fotofreudigen Menschen empfehlen, er sollte sich aber Tixo bereithalten. ;-)

No, this camera doesn't have the most pixels or the biggest zoom. However, you will use it the most for two reasons. It is small enough to take in a shirt pocket or purse. The main feature is "audio notation" which records 15 seconds of audio after each picture. When, you return from a trip, you don't have to try to remember what city or landmark you visited. In a few mouse clicks, you can create a slide show with your own voice describing the sites. Very few cameras have this feature, and some who have it don't know how to use it, but it is a great general purpose camera. Most people who see it in use ask what it is and how to get it.
