Got it yesterday. In green. Actually it's a shiney yellowish-green. Nice feel. Fits well in shirt pocket. Very light; particullarly compared to my Pentax Optio 550. Good, nice size LCD. Easy to use yet with nice availability of choices for customization. Well written manual (you can find online thru google) and onboard help menu. Photos come out fairly nice. Tried indoors in low light with several scene settings, outdoors, macro, and supermacro. Colors look true, fairly sharp without noticable artifact. Used in South Florida morning daylight outside without any trouble with LCD viewing (camera has no classic viewfinder). Have read reviews of washout in bright sun: have not tried that yet. Overall, I'm happy with the camera thus far.
*Next Day follow-up: LCD does wash out in bright sunlight. Also it's reflective, making it quite difficut to use. Cupping or baseball hat helps enough to be able to use. I'll definetly order shade screen when Delkin comes out with custom shade for camera. Would lower overall rating to 3 stars if using out in bright sun much.

Good Camera |
very nice digital happy snapper...I have a Sony Mavica (which I love), but I needed something compact and fairly weatherproof to bring to an archaeological field school. This camera survived lots of blowing sand and dust, some light rain, being banged around in a daypack, and in the process acquired some dents and scratches, yet it still performs like a champ. The photos are fantastic. Yes, the LED screen is VERY difficult to see in bright sunlight--under those conditions you have to feel fairly confident about your ability to compose the shot, and for this reason alone I didn't give it five stars--but thanks to the autofocus and stabilization feature, the photos aren't blurry at all. Please note that although this camera is water-resistant, it is most assuredly NOT WATERPROOF. It will not withstand submersion.
Purchase an extra battery because the battery can't be charged while it's in the camera. Overall, this is an excellent little compact camera. I'd purchase it again in a heartbeat. |
Olympus Stylus 750Pretty awesome - this is compact digital camera #4, and of those I've had, it's also my favourite.
Positives: - Small enough to take everywhere - 5x zoom is significantly better than 3x - Image stabilization really does work - it won't solve all camera shake every time, but if I take the same picture with stabilizer on and off, you can usually see a significant difference - Weather resistance is awesome - I take it places I would have been afraid to take my last one, so I get more pictures I would have missed otherwise! - Screen brightens up very well in low light, with my last one, shooting at night was more of a blind guess. - 1600 ISO is nice - a grainy picture is still way better than a blurry one. Negatives: - I wish it had some sort of semi-manual mode, maybe shutter priority or something - Manual focus is not needed, but being able to set focus to infinity is sometimes handy - I wish the lens was a 2.8 - Auto white balance indoors with no flash is not very good Hope that is helpful to somebody |
Nice little camera with some serious drawbacksI recently bought the Olympus Stylus 750 w/o comparison shopping when I found myself on vacation without the charger for my usual camera. On the whole, this has proved to be a pretty good pocket camera. The 5x magnification is a big plus, and there is no size or weight penalty for the added magnification. The camera fits both the hand and the pocket very well. The Olympus also offers two levels of macro mode for closeups, and I got some rather good pictures using these (e.g. a full-screen picture of a dragonfly perched on a bush). And in all fairness, I got a lot of satisfactory pictures using the Olympus.
However, I did not end my trip loving the camera. The biggest problem is that the LCD screen is essentially unreadable outdoors in daylight, so framing pictures under these conditions is mostly guess work. Since more than half of my pictures on the recent trip were made under outdoor, daylight conditions, I found the LCD problem intensely frustrating. This is my third camera with image stabilization, the other two are Panasonic Lumix models. By comparison, I got a larger number of blurry pictures using the the Olympus than I usually do using the Lumix cameras. It may be, however, that reading the advanced manual (which comes on CD, only a basic manual comes in print with the camera) will show me how to use the Olympus image stabilization to better effect. The number and size of the buttons is also inconvenient, as many reviewers (including those on non-Amazon sites) have pointed out. And it is essential to carry a second, charged battery with you, since the battery life is at best average, and the system for warning of low charge is not very effective. Overall, I rate the Oympus 750 as a good, serviceable pocket camera with some significant plusses but also with significant minuses. I believe that one can probably do better at the price. |
Blurry Pictures with Stylus 75080% of the time the pictures from this camera are blurry - even with the 2 types of stabilization. I am an avid picture taker (approx 400 per month) - and my previous Kodak camera was 100 times better than this camera. The controls are hard to use on this Stylus. Taking pictures of Holiday lights downtown on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, you might as well forget it (BLURRY - BLURRY - BLURRY). Guess I should of went ultra professional and set up a tri-pod and lights just to get these seemingly simple pictures. I will never buy another Olympus product.
Excellent compact digital cameraThis camera is great, it's small enough to fit in a pocket without being bulky and the zoom is exceptional for something so small! The battery has incredible life so far. I'm still getting some blurry pictures but I haven't had the camera all that long so I'm still getting used to it.
Good, easy to use camera with a big problemThe biggest problem is that the LCD screen is unreadable @ outdoors in daylight, so framing pictures under these conditions depends on good luck.
Not having eye view as a option is very frustrating. The selection of night pictures scene is always blurry, may I need a tripod for that. However the selection of pictures with available light is very good.Battery life is good, I used it all day long in different set ups and the battery holds very well, do not forget to recharge it at the end of the day and will be ready for the next day. Xd cards are not available everywhere, and is more expensive than sd cards. I will buy it again if comes with a eye view option... |
Olympus Stylus 750 Digital CameraI decided to get one of the new Stylus cameras as my old camera was dying and the new ones are water resistant (supposedly waterproof to ten feet). I do a lot of canoeing and I believe that dampness hastened the demise of my previous camera.
The camera takes excellent pictures and the 4 power optic zoom works quite well. I have used it for indoor and outdoor pictures. While it is not as versatile as the SLR types, it is good for quick pictures which is mostly what I take these days. It does have a fair amount of versatility, but it takes a bit of time to adjust. The only downside I have found on the camera is that it does not have a viewfinder, only the screen which tends to wash out in bright light. This has not posed a serious obstacle to any pictures I have taken to date, but it does restrict the ability to finely compose a picture. If this issue could be resolved, I would have absolutely nothing but good things to say about this unit. |
Stylus 750 ExperienceI have not used the camera much, but like the other Stylus models that I own; it is quite functional. I do miss having a viewfinder because bright light can make the digital display a little iffy. The 5x optical zoom is very nice to have. The pocket size of the camera makes it extremely worthwhile to me.
Very good, but...Very versatile to use because of its many features. Easy to use in basic point and shoot mode. Difficult to aim accurately outdoors in bright light because display is washed-out by background light.
I'd buy it againI've used my 750 for a month now and love it except for one thing. No viewfinder. Most ultra compacts don't have one but in bright sun it's tricky to see the display. I "reshopped" today and found a Canon Elph 800si but - it was only 3x optical zoom not 5x, it weighed more, cost $100 more, had fewer features and scenes (which I really use), wasn't weather resistant and was harder to "figure out". I decided to keep my 750 and just learn how to shield the display better. It takes great shots and the automatic scenes are easy to use and easy to switch among. Much easier than my old Olympus.
The pro's and con'sIt's hard to pick the actual rating for this camera, and I guess your user experience will depend on what you bought this camera for. After using it for a month, I don't feel this is the "one and only" camera someone would want to own. The reasons: 1) The pictures just aren't coming out all that great, and are often blurry 2) Impossible to take pictures outside in the daylight, no matter how hard you try you can't see the screen in the daylight
Heres why it got 3 out of 5 stars though... this camera has a perfect "niche" if you will. We recently had a very cold, wet snowy weekend in Texas. Since that doesn't happen in my area very often, I wanted to take a bunch of pictures. Well guess who was the only person who could take their camera out in the wet snowy environment? Me! Everyone else was afraid their camera would be ruined. Since the sun was not shining, I could see the view finder just fine, and even though it was getting wet from the snowflakes landing on it, I knew the unit was sealed and weatherproof. It took good pictures in these conditions, and the camera wasn't harmed at all. This camera is also great for party settings, it can sit on the table and you can spill beer after beer and not worry about it. So IMO this is a good "secondary" camera to have around. If you're looking to buy only one camera, this isn't it. |
Great Little Camera, a leap forward for olympus!!Compact so it fits in you pocket, high tech enough to dance with it's bigger counterparts. This little camera does it all. I comparison shopped for several weeks comparing and contrasting multiple cameras from cannon, kodak, hp, sony, panasonic, and olympus, and none had features like this, a small size, and in this price range. The upgrades form the old 710 are a 5x optical zoom and 5.6 digital zoom (28x total) for up close, excellent photos, and the dual image stabilization.
7.1megapixels, Dual image stabilization (both digital and optical stabilization for shake free pictures new for the 750 and 760 models), 2.5 inch lcd viewing screen, and a low price what you get. OH, DID I MENTION EXCELLENT PICTURES. I have played with this for several days now editing the photos, paling with the on-board and the computer imaging package, and I see nothing wrong with this camera for an everyday average user like me. And with it's weather resistence, nice for a clumsy average user like me. Also the battery life is very adequate, about 120 photos or more, with slide shows, editing ect... This is well worth the investment, saving your families memories in a fit and proper manner. |
Good camera, but ...I purchased this camera to replace an olympus 400. All in all, it takes great pictures. The image stabilization works very well. I took some test shots at dawn from a freeway bridge (low light conditions & bouncing from traffic)and the camera performed excellently. The shots turned out great. Good color saturation, and fairly sharp image. It also is weather resistant as was the 400, which was one of the MAJOR reasons I picked Olympus. I have had a camera "fry" because of a little rain during a picture shoot.
It does seem to go through battery power quicker than I would like, especially if it is being used outdoors in the cold. But I planned ahead for that by buying two extra batteries just for that issue. The lack of an optical viewfinder, screen is in use all of the time, I suspect is a major culprit. I usually turned off the screen on my older camera to conserve battery life. As with many postings for this and most newer point & shoot cameras, the lack of an optical viewer is a critical flaw if shooting in bright environments. Between the reflected glare, and dim screen images, you just can't see a thing while composing your shot. Just point, shoot, and hope! I was looking at Digital SLR's for a next camera when I bought this camera. I'm not sure I'm through looking. |
Great CameraI have owned this camera now for a month since buying it here on amazon. It is a great camera and I am very happy with it. The photos it takes are amazing. The video is also very good. It is also very easy to operate. The only thing that is a downer is what others have wrote about the LCD in the daytime, it is hard to see when its sunny.
a little perplexed This camera is too complex for my first digital. Actually
its my first camera since my army days 30 years ago. Its a bit too small, for my large hands and if not for the low price I would have sent it back. I will give it to my good friend and let her deal with it. She has more experience and I can always borrow it from her. Other than my personal problems with the new age techno digital minaturized devices this camera takes very good pictures and if you take the time to figure it out you'll be very pleased. Thank you Richard |
a huge disappointmentThis camera is virtually useless. Not having a view finder is a real detriment. I tried taking pictures while skiing and in the sun, the LCD screen is invisible. You cannot see what you are taking. I tried other shots outside with the same result. I guess it's fine for taking inside shots, but I need a camera that does both. So I bought a new camera that works.
Overall a great productVery cool. I was really excited about the great zoom lens. Although, a bit upset to find that I overlooked the lack of a viewfinder. It is very difficult to take pictures outside in the sun with only the LCD screen. The camera is light weight. I thought the color was a bit off, it is more yellowish than lime green. I am pleased with the quality of pictures I am getting. Would have been cool if it came with a camera case.

Great Digital CameraI had purchased a Olympus Stylus 740 for work and I liked this camera so much that I decided to get a Stylus for my personal use. Well at the time that I went to buy the camera, the 750 model was out and I thought that I might as well "upgrade."
The 750 has the same great features, but allows you to use the stabilization feature at the touch of the button instead of only in certain modes. The picture quality is great and the stabilization helps when you are not in a position to hold the camera absolutely still. I use my camera for looking at construction job sites, so having 7.1 megapixels is great to blow up pictures and not have the "grainy" effect. The greatest thing about this camera is that it is small in size and you get 5X optical zoom instead of the standard 3X. Cameras with a bigger optical zoom are 4X the size. This camera can fit in your shirt pocket. The movie mode is clear (obviously not as clear as the picture mode) and the sound quality is good. I cannot stop saying good things about the Olympus Stylus 750. I highly recommend it. The only constructive criticism I have about the camera is that indoors the flash sometimes goes off when not needed and causes glare and the flash effect, but with adjusting and playing with the settings you can overcome. However, it is digital, so trash, adjust and shoot again. |
sunnynice digital camera easy features to use only shutter speed is slow overall good for personal use for better speed n more storage need to buy extra memory card atleast 1 GB
Wanted to loveGreat size for easy use in any setting, but the view screen is very diffuclt to see in sunlight. I had to guess on a lot of pictures and wait until I could download them to select the best ones.
Outstanding Little CameraOur other digital camera (panasonic FZ) was stolen and I wanted to get another camera as a replacement. The FZ was way to bulky for me to take out on my job so I wanted something a little smaller but with decent zoom capabilities. The Olympus 750 has hit the mark dead on. With its CCD shift stabililation the shots come out perfect everytime. The zoom works nicely and with the digital zoom you can really get some good shots from far away. The only complaint I have with the camera is that if you are out in sunlight it is very difficult to see the LCD. You just have to point and shoot and hope you got the shot. I have taken pics in the sport mode and have gotten some excellent action shots. The on screen menu is very good. Definately a keeper by a long shot.
Great cameraI was a bit surprised at first that the camera was so small, the pictures on the sales site give an impression of something larger. It is an easy camera to use and the menu selection process, especially the delete function, is very understandable, very friendly and right there to be used rather than behind a series of menu buttons/screens. I have not taken that many pictures but most have come out very well. Some close ups of tropical flowers were excellent. I like that I can download directly to my computer through the USB port without needing a secondary device. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Stylus 750 - a great little cameraMy son, who has worked with cameras in journalism since high school, recommended this camera. It is easy to use and takes great pictures. Its only negative is the fact that you can't see the LCD very well in sunlight. But I have an older Olympus with a view finder which I'll keep for outdoor use. I would definitely recommend this camera for its quality, excellent pictures, and ease of accessing the menu.
Important weekness...but...Ok, i'll try to help, got it yesterday. All the picture features are awesome the dual image stabilization really works...but at night the video funtion really deserve 2 star... i changed from a sony cybershot 6.0MP, i don't have any complain of the video quality. I did the change just for the Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery, image stabilization and all weather features of the stylus, i didn't see in any review about the video of the stylus...for the truth in places with bright light is fair, but at night is very poor the quality, i have changed the image quality the ISO 1600 and in low light the case is loss. Over all the all weather i really liked, haven't tested but i'll do it. Besides, i'll remain with the camera...
Good camera, underly bright viewscreen. The camera works well. With the 1 MB card you get about 45 minutes of video or 550 pictures. The stabilization feature works well even in the 5x mode. Unfortunately the view screen is almost impossible to see in full light so you end up shooting by just pointing the camera in the general direction.
pretty nice but there are some minusesVery nice price only $199 for such functionality/quality of pictures. Optical zoom 5x more than standard 3x. Nice built-in functionality of editting pictures. The scene choosing and guide for making photos are really helpful when you don't want to think how to adjust the settings to make the best picture in the certain conditions. A cool surprising feature is that camera can be in mode when it records 4 secs of audio just after the picture was taken. So later you can view the photo and listen what was going around. Seems a bit weird, but I like it. :) All-weather design is also good. Super-macro mode as close as 3cm/1.1inch was also making me happy.
Other than that some major cons I've experienced - impossible to change the zoom level after the camera starts to record a movie, no viewfinder, you can't set the flash to the slow mode manually (it automatically sets to this mode when you choose night portrait scene as I've understood), dual-image stabilization sound really impressive, but I'm not using it very often. But obviously there are more pros than cons. I would recommend this camera. Especially for a such price :) |
Similar complaints as other reviewersThe LCD screen is almost impossible to view in certain outdoor circumstances like previously mentioned. I haven't toyed with it long enough to find a solution. I love the fact that it is waterproof. We have the underwater housing for scuba diving but if that ever leaked just a little, the camera would survive (unlike its predecessor). We also handed it (minus the underwater housing) someone standing in the water to take pictures. The smile on my face was from knowing that if the camera was dropped in the water by accident, it wouldn't matter. I also enjoy the size, having brought it into venues where "no cameras allowed" is stated but not thoroughly enforced. :)
I love the olympus stylus 750I had owned a non digital olympus stylus camera for 8 years and loved it and now the olympus stylus 750 is my very first digital camera that i have owned for a week and i really love it alot and could not have made a better choise. It is small and weather proof and looks very nice. I learned how to use it very quickly. The controls are easy to maneuver compared to other cameras. The picture quality is very sharp and good. You get 45 minutes of video with sound on one xd picture card or 900 pictures on one xd picture card. It is good to own an extra battery and picture card to be safe and prepared. I did some small videos of the 17 year cicadas and the movie quality is excellent. People have said you cant see the view finder in the sun light but I was still able to see the view finder it was just lighter in fact i was able to do a video in the sunlight and still see the view finder enough to shoot and do a good job. I am very impressed with this camera and technology has come a long way.
I Love it!!!!It is so small and it takes awesome pictures!!
I love Olympus Cameras, but this one is amazing and may I add "Super Cute"! The different picture settings make me feel like a Photography PRO. Plus, it's so sleek and small it makes it super easy to carry anywhere! |
my new green camaraI am really happy with the camara, but i still have o too much experience with it....i like it a lot!!!!!!!!!!
There is no "delete all photos" feature on this camera! Two months ago, I bought the Stylus 750 to replace an aging Kodak digital. Unlike the Kodak, the Olympus has no "delete all phots" feature, so the only way to delete all the photos from the camera after transfering to the computer is to look at each photo separately on the camera's LCD display, push the delete button on the back of the camera, confirm that I really want to delete it, then it's gone. One photo gone and 235 to go. It takes about 10 minutes to delete every hundred photos (each deletion requires 3 button pushes, one picture at a time). I've now bought a replacement camera (a Canon) that has a "delete all photos" option. I never would have guessed that a camera would be sold that made it so hard to delete the photos. It's a flaw that makes the camera functionally so clunky that I'd advise looking to another manufacturer for your digital camera purchase.
You get what you pay for?I was sorry to find out that otherwise excellent (sharp and clear) LCD display was really unreadable in bright sunlight. The sun didn't even have to hit the screen directly.
Also I was rather disappointed with the video quality. I know this is not a camcorder but it could do better. I've always had Canon and they have never disappointed me... |
My new cameraI loved this camera. It took great pictures while i was on my cruise. The only complaint i have is when the sun is out the screen goes black and makes it very difficult to see what i was shooting. But other than that i was very pleased and had great pictures to go with great memories
disappointingSAve your money. This camera is very disapointing and i do not recommend it for purchase. I have had 35 mm olympus and loved it but this is not up to their standards. You can may inside pictures that turn out fairly well but it is usless outside. The nice big viewing area on the back just goes completly black even in low light outdoors so you cannot see what you are shooting. I will be replacing this camera as soon as possible.
Great camera on the low budgetGreat picture quality, on outdoor and indoor, anti shake system works flawlessly, the only cons i find is that the screen is not accurate some times... on outdoor shots it gets almost completely white, which is not good, but i've had no real trouble with that... the pictures are just amazing on that amount of light.
Very easy to use and lots of automatic programs to just point and shoot. |
Good, but not greatI like Olympus products, but am not extrememly impressed with this particular camera. For a point and shoot and someone who doesn't want to do anything manually, this camera is great. It has all the functions you want on a point and shoot (small, compact, large LCD screen, 5x zoom, IS, 7 MP, etc.) but does not have any manual controls whatsoever. It takes good pictures, as long as you have the right scene selection. Also, the LCD screen is great indoors and at night, but during the day with any sunlight, it is almost impossible to see. I didn't think this would be such a problem (after being warned about this issue by other consumers) but it is, especially if I want to hand over the camera to someone else to take a shot.
Great Camera for On-The-GoI bought this camera to use for general purposes but was surprised how well this little camera performs. The camera is well worth the price. The pictures are great! The size of the camera allows me to keep it close for when I need it. I find I am actually getting the pics I want now instead of missing them by trying to get my larger camera out and ready for the pic. Once again, great camera for on-the-go.
Perfect camera for every-day, all-around use!The compact size and 5X zoom make this a great camera to carry with you every where you go. The pictures are clear, the camera is easy to use, the battery life is much longer than other cameras I have had, and the multiple shooting modes pretty much guaranty that you will get the shot you want. My only complaint is that there is no view finder - you have to preview your shot on the screen which is difficult when you are in very sunny conditions. Even with the lack of view finder, I love this camera & am very, very happy with it!
Weatherproof camera that is almost useless outdoors!I bought this thinking that with the li-ion battery and a backup, plus rain-resistant construction, it would be an ideal backpacking camera. Wrong. Its glossy, glare-ridden display screen is virtually impossible to use in moderate sunlight--and in Arizona, moderate sunlight is about as good as it gets--all you can see is reflection, even with field-expedient shades. Battery life is mediocre if you have to use flash for fill or to deal with backlight, and auto exposure control seems incapable of taking decent pictures under high contrast. Only upside is that it is genuinely rain-resistant. But it is less capable than my daughter's 5 megapixel Nikon Coolpix, which takes better photos and has the advantage of running forever on 2 easily replaced lithium AA batteries. This is my first and last Olympus....
fantastic camera for the price!I love this camera. I still need practice to know which setting is best to use in which circumstances, but I am very satisfied. I read the reviews of a variety of cameras that were under $300 and had at least 5X optical zoom. Not knowing much about digital cameras that was my criteria. The weatherproof-ness of this model has already proved immensely valuable as we live in TX and have been caught out in the rain (note all the recent flooding) several times during recent travels. I took it to Galveston and we decided to go to the beach anyway even though it was raining. I was able to take some great pictures of the kids playing in the ocean and got some wonderful closeups of the seagulls in flight. I also love the editing features. I was able to correct some too dark shots (the first I took) of my girls swimming at night in a pool--now they are beautiful. I'm going to still be learning this camera's features for a while, but is the most user-friendly camera I've ever had and I'm looking forward to enjoying for a long time.
The drawback--As most of the other reviewers mentioned the LCD viewer is extremely difficult to see in the daylight. It's a lot of guesswork--cover it with your hand and squint at it, point in the general right direction and hope your picture comes out. Since I knew this going in, I'm still extremely happy. |
Nice Olympus 750I love the MP on this camera and especially the color. I did buy it for the color too. This is my first digital camera and I was new at it so one day I accidentally deleted all my pictures that were on the memory card. That was my silly mistake, not the camera's. I was hoping there was an automatic backup to the memory card but there wasn't. There's a backup but you'd have to run it yourself and I hadn't been doing that. Which now that I know is good to have because it can back up over 300 pictures or more.
It's not so good to use indoors unless I just don't know how to set it because I tried different settings and still couldn't take good pictures, which led to me pressing all kinds of buttons and deleting my pictures. Other than that I like it. It's not superslim if you need a slim camera but it's not bulky too. |
A very good camera, with a couple of flaws, GREAT VALUESeveral of the flaws metioned in other reviews are very true: 1) the screen hardly works in sunlight, and there's not much you can do about it. 2) there is no optical viewfinder to use when this is the case. 3) the battery is small and lasts about 50 shots, less if you use flash.
The camera also has a number of nice plusses: 1) 7.1 MP means great image quality, 2) image stabilization prevents those blurry indoor shots, 3) 5 x optical zoom, not usually seen in a camera this small, 4) lots of gee whiz features (my fave is the panorama mode, which knits pictures together side to side or top to bottom), 5) form factor that's sleek, compact, small, and nice-looking (especially in black), and certainly not least: it's very cheap thanks to the discount here. $170 for a camera of this quality is amazing, and if you're willing to accept the flaws above it's a nice choice for a great price. I'm very happy with mine. One reviewer is way off the mark: this camera DOES have a "delete all" function, and can dump all the photos off the card with three quick clicks. I'd be happy to explain how. |
Olympus Stylus 750Battery life is terrible if you use image stabilizer, expect 25-30 shots on a full battery. Also the camera lacks of an optical view finder. Very difficult to shoot in sunlight with LCD. Many shots are somewhat bleached out while using auto white balance. Owned a stylus 400 digital prior to this and it is a dissapointment rather than upgrade. The only upsides are the 5x optical zoom which is a little choppy, and the image stabilizer that kills the battery if left on.
Great LITTLE camera I needed a small shirtpocket camera and was looking at Canon, Casio and Nikon cameras at the local Wal Mart. I came across an ad for the Olympus Stylus 770SW. While I was on the internet looking at the 770SW I saw the Olympus Stylus 750; it appeared to be just what I was looking for--it is an all weather camera with 5X zoom, and CCD shift image stabilization as opposed to the phony digital image stabilization. It takes outstanding pictures, the image stabilization works great. The 5X optical zoom (180mm equivalent) and macro mode takes great pictures of butterflies, flowers, etc., with very little cropping required. The only drawback is viewing with the LCD; it is very difficult to use in direct sunlight. I would much rather have a viewfinder, but, I guess they have to eliminate the viewfinder to keep the camera small.
good buyi would buy the hd memory card to use the first time. not much picture memory without one. good performing camera.
Good Camera/ValueBought the camera to take on a 9 day canoe trip. Bought mainly for the weatherproofing, optical zoom and size. As noted in other posts, the screen is hard to see in bright conditions. Ran with image stabilzation and power-saving and the one battery lasted the entire 9 days. The power save mode can become irritating if you don't get the picture taken quickly enough. Took around 250 photos and 4 30-45 second movies. Camera was completely submerged several time for a few seconds each time and dropped once and came though with flying colors. Loved the different scene modes for the landscape and sunset pictures I got. Would give the camera a 5 star rating if the screen were visible in all conditions or a view finder was included. Overall a very good camera. This will replace my older and heavier Kodak as my everyday camera.
Very User FriendlyThis is a beautiful little camera. Very easy to use, has great features and takes wonderful pictures.
As others have stated, the picture display screen is impossible to see in bright light. Point, shoot and hope for the best! All in all, I love this camera and would purchase it again, in a heartbeat!! |
Olympus Stylus 750 7.1MP Digital CameraThis is an awesome camera because it is easy to use and the battery life has greatly improved over the previous digital camera that we have. The digital stablization makes the blurry pictures few and far between. Also the picture snap time delay is an improvement from our previous Olympus Stylus 510. For the money this camera is a great value and it is small and easy to carry in traditional case or I put mine in a wristlet handbag with keys and id.
One months useI have been very pleased with this camera. Its ease of use, navigation guides and quality of picture. Being able to take movie clips is a nice feature, something my previous camera did not have.A sunset picture off my deck came out quite nice using the guide, something I was never able to achieve with my previous camera.I would suggest getting a one gig card if you want to do movies. The quality of movies is not great but of sufficient use.Lack of a viewfinder is a negative in sunny conditions but I suspect that would add greatly to the size of the camera. Its a shirt pocket fit as is.
New cameraI like all of the features on this camera except the fact it doesn't have a view finder. When taking pictures in bright light you can't see your subject.
LCD is fine.I bought Olympus 750 just a few days ago for my wife to replace our old Cannon power shot S400. Reading all these comments regarding the Olympus 750 LCD unusable under bright light I almost did not buy the 750, but then given all the other good features it had to offer and only for $169 on Amazon, I decided to buy it any way. I tried the camera in full California sun and did observe the washout of the LCD, but just today I found the solution. The solution to the LCD problem is very simple and I am very surprised no one had discovered it yet. Just go to setup and increase the LCD brightness to maximum (see page 32 of the Manual). I just took the camera outside in full California sun, and I was able to see my subjects fine in the LCD and it was not any worst that my old Canon digital camera.
Very Happy!I really love the size and the pictures, though it is really difficult to see the screen in full sun, only downfall!! wish the screen was brighter, love the movie feature! have used is alot with children! for the price cant beat it!
Nice CameraVery convenient for it's size, easily stored and brought anywhere.
Has a good number of features, haven't had it long enough to explore all of them or experiment just yet. Looks promising though to play with. The "auto" setting does make bright photos as a default. Will have to adjust accordingly. It's necessary to get a memory card to be able to have enough room for pictures. The camera's memory fills far too quickly. |
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!I love this camera! clear pictures, and seeing as I'm an outdoor fanatic, it hasn't died from taking a dive into water or frazzled from sand! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Great camera!I love the size of this camera. It is small enough to fit into an evening bag yet it takes great pictures. The viewfinder is large too, making picture-taking easy and fun. The images blow up nicely as well. A wonderful camera for a fabulous price.
Oh How Easy! This camera by far is the easiest to use. i could not beleive the quality of the pictures i took with no work on my part. this is the best camera i have ever owned and would recommend to anyone looking for a great camera that is easy to work.
If you would just focus...I really like this camera a lot. It's ability to shrug off inclement weather is a godsend when kayaking and the small size allows me to take it anywhere, anytime. The macro setting allows you to get within an inch of your subject--as long as you don't need the flash--which is great for well lit subjects. The one limitation, and it's been mentioned by others here, is that you have to be very careful about focusing on your subject. The camera really seems to like to focus on errant spots.
great camera with one major flawtakes great photos and has lots of image control choices. I love the movie feature as it can be quickly accessed. BUT it is IMPOSSIBLE to frame a shot outside in sunshine because you cannot see anything in the monitor and there is no viewfinder! how crazy is that?
Perfect for that money! The Olympus Stylus 750 7.1MP Digital Camera is a very nice and compact camera with a clear and big review screen. The camera feels good in your hands and the results are sharp and if your pictures are 'moved' you must have shaked the camera very well because the stabilizer is amazing! You will be pleased with this camera if you were looking for a camera around $150. The 5x zoom is not so much but that is a personal choice.
My OlympusWell, this camera has lots of functions and settings, but the pictures quality is not great. Compared with what I had previously, an HP, Olympus does an average job. Battery life is satisfactory and the 5X zoom allows you to get close to objects as much as you need.
You get what you pay for...After losing my Canon SD630, I chose to replace it with a more economical choice. The Olympus was on sale and it seemed to have all the same features. I read the other reviews and it does have a screen that is very hard to see in all but low light conditions. It's also hard to see if the picture taken was very good. The image shows up rather dark on the screen which makes it appear under exposed. You'll have to wait to load it to your PC to get a good view of whatever you've been photographing. The movie mode only tapes in quicktime format, so don't plan on using the videos in your typical PC moviemaker programs. I also have a hard time beleiving that this thing will be water, dust or anything else tight. Seems to be a cheap plastic case without much substance. Proof will be found in a few weeks when we go on vacation. I plan on letting our daughter drag this thing into the ocean and see what it can actually withstand. I'm partial to Canon cameras; tried Sony, Nikon and now this Olympus. The others disappointed compared to the Canon, I'll have to wait and see what this one does. So far though it's a disappointment.
Could be a great cameraI was so excited about this camera. Had all the features I wanted at a great price. I did not believe the reviews about the screen could be right. Boy was I wrong. What good is a camera with great features and that will take great picture, but has a view screen that you can not see in sunlight? And I don't mean it is hard to see, I mean it is black. There is no way you can compose a picture in bight sun. I wanted this camera to take on a trip and figured I would be outside and in the sun-- with this camera, you would be just pointing and praying you got the shot you wanted. I returned it!
Great value!Great camera for the money! Shoots well in most any lighting, jpeg noise in extreme low light situations. Zoom is good, I wouldn't consider less than 5x. Plenty of data (7.1mp). Like most cameras, sometimes blows out whites in exposure. Flash doesn't reach as far as you might like it too.
Great buy for the $. |
Olympus 750 Point and Shoot CameraVery light and easy to use. Poor viewing on LCD in sunlight i.e. almost impossible to see what you are shooting. Images come out nice, good color. Needs better mechanism or
It's a very good product but don't take it to the extremeOlypus products has never let me down and this one is no exceptions (even when I am about to send it back for another one; I will explain in a minute). The camera does what its says and has a great easy learning curve (if you are willing to take time to experiment a little). Mostly all my picture came out great and then I learn some of the camera's presets and they can out better. .....Now, for the sending back part. I am a product extremist. If a detergent say it can get out blood and grape juice stains out of a shirt, guess what, that will be the first that it will try to wash out. As for the weather proof camera, well there was a big, big rain and since I never been able to take pictures while it was raining before, I guess I got a little too happy with my weather proof camera. It lasted for a good hour or so , then it click off like the battery was dead. Oh well, everything has it limited. I can say that here but the warranty guys aint gonna hear it. All in all, the camera is still great. And ooh yeah, if you see other reviews about it's hard to see the LCD screen in sunlight. Don't worry it's hard to see ALL LCD SCREENS cameras that's uses the LCD screen as a viewfinder in sunlight.
great digital cameraI bought this digital camera one month ago, I am still thinking it is the coolest thing I ever bought on internet!Everything is fine with this little thing! perfect for me! love it!
magnificent Image stabilizerolympus stylus gives a magnificent imageolympus stylus gives a magnificent and very clear image of every shots taken. it is perfect and easy to operate.

Olympus Stylus 750 Almost PerfectThere are only 3 things I have found on this camera I do not like, I will list them in descending order from most to least annoying.
#1- When shooting out doors in bright sunlight it is nearly impossible to see anything on the display besides your own reflection. A small view finder would have come in handy. #2- The form factor of the memory card is uncommon, it uses an Olympus XD card, which is now the 4th type of compact memory I have to own. #3- The usb cable for connecting the camera to the computer has a non-standard connector for connecting to the camera. Not your normal mini-usb and not available at any of the 3 Fry's stores near me. Here are 3 things I like most about the camera in ascending order. #1- It's small and light, almost like carrying a pack of smokes in your pocket. #2- When connected to your PC it will show up in the list of drives as a removable hard drive, I find this convenient so I can choose how to import the photos to the computer and I can use it for data portage. #3- It takes great photos. With the preprogrammed scenes and tutorials, as well as the shaky hand reduction feature I have been able to pull off some very nice photos since I picked up this very affordable camera. |
Camara full of fun...tions still easy for first timer. This camara is great. It has so many funtions that it takes a bit of time to get familar with the buttons. But, once you get pass the learning stage your off and running. The carama download feature is super simple and I love the shift stabilization.

Very disappointingI purchased this camera for 2 main reasons. First, my old camera was also an Olympus, and it took great photos. Second, I wanted a weatherproof camera that I could take to the beach. Unfortunately, the pictures from this camera appear somewhat grainy and washed-out on average, despite the impressive megapixels. I saw that the camera didn't have a viewfinder, and I thought, "that's probably not a big deal." WRONG. A viewfinder is absolutely necessary - don't buy a camera without one. In bright sunlight (i.e. at the beach)you cannot see a thing on the 750's LCD screen. It's useless. I have learned several reasons why a viewfinder is so wonderful:
1. You can see through it no matter the level of light 2. It allows you to rest the camera on your nose for stability, rather than always having to hold it awkwardly in front of you 3. It allows you to properly frame a photograph without other visual distractions I will be buying a second camera WITH a viewfinder. This camera will just have to serve as a sort of sport camera - one I can use when the weather is dangerous for a good camera. |
Great sizeGreat little camera to take along, the minus is-no view finder. In sunlight you cannot see the screen.
Good purchaseI bought the 750 Olympus Stylus for my wife. She used the 330 Stylus prior to the 750 Olympus and wanted a camera similar to her friend's Sony digital. I prefer the Olympus and researched the similarities with the Sony brand. I like the Olympus 750 7.1MP digital...the viewing screen is good size for such a small camera, the camera is certainly quicker than the 330 at recording the image; the stabilizer is a nice feature, too. I am pleased with the selection, particularly with a 1Gb Xd picture card.
digital cameraNot knowing a thing about digital cameras, I found that this was a very easy one to get familiar with.Seems to do a lot of things that I dont need at this point, but, once I am more comfortable with it, I will probably experiment with some of it. As far as the picture it takes, it is very clear and sharp.
Great Olympus stylus 750 digital cameraIts amazing.Pictures very bright and crisp clear in a day light and most of the situation however it sucs when I take night scene pictures. Its a great machine comparing price\quality compass. I recommend it for intermediate photographers. Auto mode is great for most of amator pictures.Cheers
Olympus 750 - great valueThis digital camera is sleek, inexpensive and works great. Easy to download pictures and picture quality is very good. This is a great value.
olympus styus 750I am very happy with this product I haven't had it long enough to do everything the camera is capable of. The directions seem to be quite clear
so far I am please with the product |
I love this camera!I love this camera so much, I have recommended it to five people who have also bought it! Thanks for the great service, and the great camera!
cameraCamera takes beautiful pictures. Easy to operate. This is my first digital camera and it was easy to figure out.
Love the camera!I am a techie-lover who never had a digital camera before now. Even with the screen you cannot see in the sun (merely annoying), this is a great camera. I took it on vacation to Toronto and Niagara Falls. The variety of settings were fun to play with and test. I took hundreds of shots in museums and tested all the settings. They were a great help! I cannot compare this to anything else, but I have really enjoyed using it. The video recording didn't want to work the first time I tried it, but I was in a hurry trying to use it. The second (and subsequent) times it worked fine. Take your time and get used to the settings before trying to do something! Anyway, I really like the camera and would recommend it. It fit nicely in my purse and pocket. Zoom is good. I shake a bit, so the stabilization gets a workout. I only had to discard 3 of 175 shots taken. - which I think it a good average.
Do not take this camera on vacationThe screen is not visible in sunlight and there isn't a viewfinder so taking outdoor pictures is guess work at best. I would not recommend this camera for the outdoor enthusist or frequent traveler.
Nice Camera for the priceI really do like this camera. Seems to leave alot of red eyes. Thank good ness for red eye reduction ON THE CAMERA...I still need to read about it but so far I have been able to get good pictures with just clicking and shooting!
Nice Camera but Watch Out at Night !!I became the proud owner of an Olympus Stylus 710 and I absolutely loved that little camera. Someone had an accident with my camera and I had to replace it. I did research and I found this 750 and I loved the fact that it s a 5x Optical zoom. i figured that being an upgraded product that it would be a better camera.
I went to Vegas with the camara and it worked beautifully outdoors. The colors were crisp and clear, but night photography was awful. If I used the flash the pictures were to dark, used the night scene even with a tripod and pics were blurry, used the outdoor available light feature pictures came out but were on the yellow side. Made all the necessary adjustments and would switch back and forth on features and would even take several pictures of the same item looking for that "good" picture. Shooting into backligght was an issue. None of these were issues I had with my 710. Unfortunately, I did return the 750 and was able to replace my 710, which I am absolutely happy with. |
excellent, but not for underwaterThis product is excellent. I've owned Olympus Stylus 1000 and purchased this Olympus Stylus 750 as a present for family members. It has all the features of Stylus 1000 but has considerably lower price. The only thing I have to note, it's mentioned in the product description that one could use this camera to shoot under water. As it turned out from instructions manual, one will need to purchase a special waterproof case, before taking underwater photos.
The net is positiveYes, pictures in the open can be hard as "aim! shoot!" can be difficult because of the sun, but for the discounted price this model is a must. Pay attention to the fact that certain editing functions in the desktop software only work if you purchase the Olympus memory card, so buy it as there is no difference when compared to other brands.
LOVE this camera!I lost my Olympus Stylus 500 camera that I had bought 2 years ago, and got this one to replace it. It (1)is lighter, (2), cheaper, and (3) has enhanced additional features like image stabilization and a better optical zoom. I LOVE this camera, and I was pretty fond of the 500. It has all the features I loved about the 500 (large digital viewfinder/viewing screen, weatherproof gaskets), plus more. The photos are terrific. I originally bought the 500 because it was more than a "point and shoot" (i.e. you could take it off of "automatic" and play with the ISO, etc. if you wanted to), but I have to admit I have NEVER done that because the photos on the auto setting are so good. If you are looking for an excellent, light, durable all-round use camera of the (mostly) point-and-shoot variety, this one is for you.
Great Little CameraThis was a great purchase. My wife and I love to take photographs, but it is a pain having to lug around our SLR if we plan on doing things other than take photos all day, especially on vacations.
We took this camera to Hawaii with us and were very happy with it. Get a 2GB card and you can take almost 600 pictures at the highest quality setting, and the different exposure settings are fun to experiment with (especially the sunset setting). |
The Right ChoiceI had doubts before i bought this camera as i was all over the place asking and trying to find the perfect yet affordable camera......this camera has been able to do everything i've wanted a camera to do...i have not been disappointed....it fits easily into my handbag or anything i am taking out with me, it's really cute and stylish and takes GREAT pictures....and i got it in three days..a day before the estimated time of arrival even started.....if you are looking for something slick, stylish, affordable and takes great pictures then this is the way to go! Oh and by the way i am now in Jamiaca but i bought it when i was in the US...
did not workWhen the camera arrived, we charged the battery and it did not function at all. I contacted Amazon and spoke with a very pleasant and helpful young woman who quickly ordered us another identical camera which was mailed to us by 2 day shipping and the return for the non-functioning camera was facilitated. I was impressed with the Amazon customer service and I hope that the second camera will work well for a long time. We have overall had excellent luck with Olympus cameras in the past. The second camera works very well.
Good product at very Good priceI am much satisfied with the quality of Olympus 750.
Found uncomfortable intially of the Image shake even with Image Stabilization ON. Image stabilization fuction of this camera need to be improved. When your Hand is stable/nonshaky and if u have enough time to take a snap. this Camera can produce good images.. Ligting, brightness are also good, only thing you need to play around the settings.. Go through the manual before actaually going for Outdoor Tour/Trip.. Battery backup relatively poor compared to Canon.... OK for the price i have paid..... |
Excellent CameraPurchased the camera since I needed a camera that is small and will fit in my pocket, has at least a 5X optical zoom and not too expensive. I still own a 3.1 mega pixel Olympus that is still in excellent working condition despite the fact that it has been soaked by rain. The stylus 750 is beyond my expectation. Despite its size it takes excellent pictures, and on the highest resolution with a 2GB xD card it indicated about 600 pictures that I can shoot. I think the number of pictures will exceed the battery life.
Pictures came out excellent with beautiful color balance, however at full optical and digital zoom it is somewhat pixelated. I did not quite like the idea that you have to take the battery out to charge it, or buy a separate battery adapter if you want to charge it on the camera. They should have included the adapter with the camera. Another negative comment is the fact that it does not have a normal viewfinder. In bright outdoor light it is impossible to view the scene through the LCD viewfinder. All in all it is an excellent buy.. |
Great camera, one common flaw...This is our 2nd Olympus Digital camera and was well worth the buy. Takes great pictures and is very easy to use. The flaw is the lack of a viewfinder. It is nearly impossible to preview the picture that you are taking in bright daylight, even with a "anti-reflective" screen protector in place. This seems to be a growing problem with new point and shoot digitals. I would have given it 5 stars otherwise. Nevertheless, it is a great camera with lots of useful, easy to manage settings built in.
Very nice cameraI think this is a great little camera. It is a big upgrade for me coming from the Kodak Easyshare I got a few years ago. I would recommend taking some time to read the little guidebook that comes along with it and playing with it before taking some real serious photos because you will want to know where some of the settings are, otherwise, the inexperienced user might not think that this camera is all that I am making it out to be. I love that I can adjust so many things in the camera to make the pictures come out the way I want them to. For one, I can change the ISO anywhere from 200 - for bright outdoor shots to 1600 for inside low light shots of my sleeping baby. And the on screen help guide is really convenient if you want to quickly change the settings from say...a close up, to a picture where the background is blurred out and you focus only on the subject. I don't see not having a viewfinder as a disadvantage because I never use it anyways. The image stablization is nice too and helps reduce the amount of blurry pictures from an unstable hand or moving object. The End.
Good all around digital camera. This is a good camera that you can take anywhere. It is easy to use and easy to download pictures to yourcomputer
Olymus Stylus 750 Digital CameraI love this camera. Easy to use. Pictures come out clear, color is great. One of the best features is the size of the screen at back of camera.
Many of my family member want to borrow this camera from me. This is the best purchase I made this year. |
If you want a nice camera, get itThis is a very good camera in this price range. It gives you a great clearity of pictures. It has picture stabilization ability that makes very easy to take pictures in motion. So far its battery is nice and durable.
A great cameraI have had the Stylus 750 for a month now, the zoom is great with the stabilizer. This is my second Olymous I have a 710, they are quality cameras.
So many features I haven't discovered them all!I think this is a great camera. It takes nice shots and probably even better ones then I have been taking since I have yet to use all of the different modes and features that it comes with. My only real problem with this camera is there isn't a view finder just a screen which is impossible to see if the sunlight hits it. So, you find yourself aiming and shooting and praying you got the shot. Out of direct sun it is great. If they could just add a view finder it would be perfect!
LCD's are only great indoor.I bought this camera beginning of this year as the older Olympus 3.2 MP camera was very good. However, this one just frustrates me since you cannot see the image you are taking on the LCD when shooting outdoors. Bought a flap for it and I can see a little bit now but it is still almost shooting blind. Would like to have the viewfinder in my next camera.
Compact all weather and loving it!Owned the camera for a month and carry it in my purse. Never missing those last minute incredible shoots. Own a full sized Fujifilm camera but could not use on the beach, near water, or in extreme heat or cold. Also I wanted a camera that used the same XD card. Have not printed pictures yet hopefully will be happy with them also.
Love this camera!I have had a prior Olympus. I then switched to a Figi. What a mistake. I never got the great pictures my Olympus had. I bought this camera and love it. It is very user friendly both taking the pictures and putting them on the computer. I don't see how anyone would not like this camera. It's small, easy to use, but most importantly, provides great pictures!
excellent indoor camera ng for outdoorsWorks fine indoors but should have an optical view finder for outdoors! CANNOT SEE IMAGE IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT!! |
Great little camera, easy to operate, priced rightIf I had any complaint it would be as so many have mentioned that you cannot preview what the picture will look like outdoors. However, for ease of operation, setting selection, etc. this is a great little digital camera and takes decent pictures for its price range.
Super little cameraI have 4 larger cameras and was in need of a compact digital that could withstand being outdoors in any weather. As a bicycle & motorcycle rider I am always coming across situations where having a camera instantly ready gives me opportunities for great shots. The 5X optical zoom is a big plus also. This is my second Olympus and would buy a third if needed.
Great camera for the priceI bought this for under $170 and it is a great camera. The screen is large and the menu options I have learned so far (there are many) seem intuitive. I have not loaded the Olympus software onto my PC in order to manage the photos - its just as easy to just plug in the USB cable and let the Windows PC Operating system do the rest. I bought a 1mB memory card which, according to the literature will allow me to store over 500 HD photos - more than I would ever need before downloading to my PC. I am not an expert photographer and just needed a simple, easy-to-use digital camera that is small & light, and takes clear photos - this fits the bill.
Can NOT Be Used in SunlightIndoors it's fine but for outdoors there is no view finder. YOU CAN'T SEE ANY IMAGE ON THE VEIWING SCREEN IN SUNLIGHT!!
Great Price for a great cameraThis camera is less than half the price of the previous model (that is not nearly as powerful) that I bought at a discount store a couple of years ago!
Great camera at a great price! |
1st one brokeOk-so I got the camera, was LOVING it and then it stopped working. I think it was knocked on the floor and no one told me, but I got a replacement and it is awesome! I love it.
Night shots are hard-you must read the instruction manual-I'm very tech savy, but there are little tricks to learn:) Very easy point and shoot!! |
NO WIDE ANGLE LENS, NO OPTICAL VIEWFINDER, AND USES AN EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO OBTAIN PROPRIETARY BATTERYArthur Schopenhauer once wrote: "Truth goes through 3 stages: First it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed, and third it is accepted as self-evident truth."
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Francois Voltaire UNLIKE YOUR AA BATTERIES, THE PROPRIETARY BATTERY MUST BE RECHARGED EVERY NIGHT OR YOU WILL END UP WITH .....A DEAD CAMERA! What you'll read below is more than merely my opinion. What you'll read are factual statements about this camera. This is a good camera except that it doesn't have a wide angle lens. You need a wide angle lens to take those beautiful shots of sky/land/clouds and photos of large buildings and monuments like The Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. This camera also uses an expensive proprietary battery that is difficult to find at your local neighborhood drug and other stores. I suggest you also look at The Nikon Coolpix P50 which I found to be a "better choice" than this one. So, why give it one star, you ask? I give it one star because, for me, I would NOT buy this camera in preference to the Nikon P50. Because I would not buy this camera, for me it only rates one star. That does not say that it is a "bad" camera regarding its picture taking capabilities. You may love the camera and if it were the only camera on the market I might also. But, for me and possibly for you, The Nikon P50 is a better choice. If you wanna see some photos I took with the P50, send me an email: boland7214@aol Regarding the proprietary battery as compared with AA batteries, when you are out on safari in Africa living in a thatched hut or tent and your proprietary battery runs out of power, do you want to be running all over the jungle at night in a fruitless attempt to find a battery at a local "sari-sari" store while you hear lions and hei-enas roaring and sounding off all around you? With the Nikon P50, you can easily carry enough AA batteries with you on your trip so you won't have to risk your life searching for the proprietary battery all over the jungle on those cold nights with wild animals searching for YOU! Got it? :o) PS: There is also a Canon SD800 which has a wide angle lens and an optical viewfinder. I like that one also. But the "killer" for me on that one is the proprietary battery necceary to operate the Canon SD800 over the use of AA batteries used in The Nikon P50 that are very cheap and you can find in almost any store in the world. PPS: Why do you need an optical viewfinder when you have an LCD screen? The simple reason is that the LCD's SOMETIMES get "washed out" in bright sunlight. And, another reason, I think, is that the optical viewfinder is "faster to use" under "pressure circumstances" like when you want to "grab" that smile on your kids face. Why not have both is my opinion. If you disagree fine, but two ways to view and take photos seems better than one. It's just common sense. (Plus some people are "far sighted" and have difficulty clearly viewing a small LCD screen a few inches from their eyes.) So, you ask, "who needs a 28mm ?" You do! Most people concern themselves with how LONG is their telephoto lens. But, most people who "know" know that it is the WIDE ANGLE lens that is most important---most of the "best shots" are made with a WIDE ANGLE lens. For example, you're in Europe and you are trying to "get a shot" of that Cathedral of Notre Dame over there. You NEED a WIDE ANGLE lens. You are in the California Poppy Fields and you want to get the expanse of the golden-yellow poppy flowers with the huge blue sky filled with white clouds above---you need a WIDE ANGLE lens. You are sitting at thanksgiving dinner and you want to take a photo from the foot of the table with everyone sitting on the left and right---you NEED a WIDE ANGLE lens. You are in the garden of the California Mission and you want to take a photo of the ENTIRE garden surrounded by the mission walls---you NEED a WIDE ANGLE lens. It's Christmas day and you want a photo of the ENTIRE GROUP of visitors in front of the Christmas Tree---you NEED a WIDE ANGLE lens. This is where the 28mm lens comes in! Otherwise you'll be cutting off heads and leaving Aunt Sylvia out of the "Christmas Group Photo" this year---and she'll disinherit you and you'll live a life of poverty and misery everafter! :o) If you agree or disagree or know of ANY other digital point and shoot camera that has a WIDE ANGLE lens please write, Email:boland7214@aol. One more reason having an optical viewfinder is a good feature is that: If you don't have an optical viewfinder you'll have to use the LCD Screen ALL the time....thus using up more precious battery power--but with an optical viewfinder you can turn the LCD off and conserve battery power so you won't run out of electricity to power the camera. |
I like it!This my first digital camara and I looked around and questioned others about their camara. This camara seemed to have what I wanted and I am very satis |
