Nice looking Camera - terrible pictures
This is a very nice looking camera and as a basic point and shoot (which is what I was looking for) - it has a lot of nice features. Pictures taken with the wide angle lens are pretty good - however, when taking any type of close up picture any slight hand movement will result in a blurry picture and the image stablization feature does not help this. The colors are OK - not great and on an auto setting the flash will go off anytime you are indoors - even in good light , resulting in a washed out photo. You have to manually turn off the flash which is annoying.
Also, takes a long time between pressing the button and taking the picture and even longer before it is ready to take the next picture

Very nice
This is my 3rd Olympus digital camera. I wanted a slimmer version of the great C-740 UltraZoom so I can carry it in my handbag.
The optical zoom is only 5x but it has some nice features that are good for novices and more experienced photographers as well. It has an "online" guide which is great as well as tips for how to use the various settings.
My only complaint is the proprietary battery pack - it comes with a recharger but unlike the C-740 UltraZoom, you cannot replace it with regular AA batteries. This is a problem when you travel in remote areas and don't have access to an electrical outlet (was 6 days in the desert in the Middle East) and you can't use regular AA batteries which you can buy at any souk.
Otherwise, great little camera.

This is a wonderful product.
I love my camera. It is easy to use and has way more features than I need. But it still does what I need, and is easy to use.

Very Pleased
Wanted a smaller camera that had more than 3x zoom. My other camera is an Olympus with 10x zoom. It is a bit bulky. This one is not as thin as others, but just great for me.

Small and versatile
The FE-200 is a excellent camera for the price, the 5X optical zoom work create. I use my Olympus E-500 for taking pictures and the FE-200 mostly for taking videos, a 1GB memory takes proximally 25 minutes of video and I use Quicktime Plus to edit the video. The video quality is not as go as the regular video camera but now I can carry the FE-200 everywhere.
Inconvenience is that every time the camera is turn off the exposure compensation is erase returning to zero and to reset you have to go to menu .

Great pictures but little to hold
this camera has excellent resolution and is up to speed. the only thing is that i wished it could hold more pictures.

GReat product
The only bug I found is that that flash has to be turned off every time you change the settings or turn off the camera and is used again in other day.
GReat zoom

Not as good as it should have been
The buttons are too small for a normal prson. You cannot see your picture in the view field all the time. I could not get the macro portion to work, all the pictures I took with it are fuzzy.

This. Camera. BLOWS.
I was so excited whe I got my first digital camera for Christmas this year. The novelty wore off about a day later when I uploaded the pictures & witnessed the picture quality (or lack thereof).
Every single picture, even ones taken from far away, were washed out with the flash on. Turn the flash off & all the pictures are yellow. I thought that it was just because it was a brand new camera & that the flashbulb would lose some intensity over time, but here we are in August & the same problem exists.
This may not be a problem for a lot of people, but for me it is. I go to a lot of concerts & enjoy taking videos of the performances to look back on later. Since video cameras are definitely not allowed into the venues (understandably), I use my digital camera. Let me just say this - the video quality is terrible; the sound quality os non-existant. I'd expect some distortion, but not like this. I'll watch the videos now of songs I've known the words to for years & not be able to tell, even by lip-reading, which part of the song I've videoed.
If you're in the market for a digital camera, I recommend the Fujifilm Finepix Z5FD. It's around the same price (possibly cheaper!) & the picture, video & sound quality are leaps & bounds better than this piece-of-you-know-what camera. My friend owns it & every picture/video I've viewed on her camera is perfect. Well, as perfect as it can get for using a non-professional point-and-shoot camera. I'm thanking my lucky stars that my Olympus broke & now I can buy the Fujifilm without offending the people who bought me the FE-200!

purchased used-reconditioned FE-200 camera
This is my second FE-200 --- like the small size and wide range optical zoom. A friend dropped #1, so this replacement gives me continuity and duplicate charger, battery, and memory stick. Drawbacks -- lack of viewfinder in this and most small digital cameras is a major drawback in daylight. This camera sometimes fails to focus well in macro mode, or I need to improve my technique with it.

First time digital user
I must say I was shocked and surprised by this camera when I got it out of the box. I had no idea it would be so small. It's like the picture online is life sized. Then again it probably doesn't help me in the fact that I wear a size 15 ring and thus pretty much any thing is dwarfed in my hands.
I will be honest having never used a digital camera before outside of my old HP web/digital/video cam I'm impressed. While I always thought the HP took decent shots, my new Olympus buries it in all respects. I'd be worried if it didn't.
Despite what other reviewers may say, I like the ease of use for a first time duffer such as myself. I do find though that the image stabiliaztion mode is best to shoot in rather than auto. Don't know if Auto mode uses the image stabiliaztion mode but it doesn't seem like it to me. I get much better shots without it.
I'll be going on vacation soon and look forward to shooting a ton of pics and to seeing the results.
Hope this helps!
