Awful camera, awful customer service
This embarassment of a camera is the worst mistake of my consumer-life. It was broken out of the box. Ok, that I can understand.. happens to every manufacturer. So I took it to a so-called Samsung Certified Service Center who kept it for THREE MONTHS before giving me a new one. The new camera's picture quality quickly deteriorated until the images became unwatchable. Samsung's customer service amounted to, "You're lying and it's not my problem." Horrible, awful camera. Stay away at all costs from any Samsung product. If you've had luck with them in the past, pray you stay lucky because if something ever goes wrong they will burn you every chance they get.

ADDENDUM TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW
I have to say my Samsung SCD-67 Mini DV camcorder DOES WORK WITH FIREWIRE AND MAC. I've been editing my tapes on Mac from day one and haven't had a problem. "Blue Dalmation" iMac 500mhz/20Gig HD, OS 9.1 & iMovie 2.

The Lowest Priced Mini DV Camcorder Ain't Half Bad!
I produced a local cable access TV show and was looking for the lowest priced Mini-DV camcorder possible. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a Canon GL-1 from the TV station but I wanted my own camera. So, I looked and looked and finally found the best quality camera, with the best features at the best price (sub $300) right here on Amazon! It's been a year since I bought it and I STILL haven't fully utilized all it's capabilities. Partially because I can edit tape on my firewire equipped Mac w/iMovie 2 and thus don't need any of the in-camera editing features. The other reason I haven't used all the SCD-67's features is because it's SO CONVENIENT to simply point and shoot and ALWAYS record pretty decent images. My images will get even better once I start using the camera's features! It's not a sophisticated 3 ccd camera, but it's easy to use, you can grow with it, it's very reliable if you don't abuse it, and unlike some much more expensive cameras, the tape eject opens from the top THE WAY IT SHOULD! Oh, and what other camcorder offers a 22X OPTICAL ZOOM??? I drool over the GL-2, XL-1s and the others, but my Samsung SCD-67 is gonna be with me for a long time, I'm happy to say. The MAJOR drawback is the lack of a headphone jack, which means your audio quality will remain a question mark until you get back to the editing bay. One way around that is an add on Beachtech adaptor or the use of an audio mixer which has a headphone jack. Great little cam!

do not buy this camera
this camera is not compatible with a mac. it says it is on their website and in their owner's manual, but once it is at home, it won't work. i have contacted samsung three times, and have had little or no help. a manager was supposed to call me back (this after I had sent the camera off to be worked on) but i still have not heard from anyone. and that's been over two months. i am tired of trying. this camera is ok at filming, but does not work when trying to edit on a mac. save your money and buy another brand!!

Good camera for a low price.
If you want professional looking video, than this camera IS NOT for you. The people who are writing all the negative reviews are trying to use an entry-level camera for elaborate filming. This camera is not made for that. If you just want a basic, easy to use, camcorder for simple home movies, this is the camcorder to get. It's very affordable and does a good job. I have had no major problems with this model. There is some minor noise when you zoom in/out. I have had no problem recording audio. The date/time stamp does not automatically reset. Only resets if you let the battery run out completely. Battery life could be better(lasts about 1 hour on full charge). But you can get a better battery at Radio Shack. This is a solid camcorder at a good price. You can use it with most software programs like Premiere, After Effects, etc.

Samsung is a dishonor to Korea
I thought they made great products but this one breaks the mold!! I bought it on 2002 and it worked fine until the warranty ended. The video is worse than my old VHS cam (there are blocks in the picture). Yes, I've cleaned the heads! The sound is non-existent. Yes, I've checked the connections. Then, he mummbled something in Korean, laughing something in Korean. (This American probably forgot to plug in the power cord.) Suprise!! I understand it. I hanged up on him and bought myself a Canon.
