pocket size useful camcorder
I purchased this model for use on my field trips and interviews in the Amazon Rainforest and the Philippines. It fits in your pocket, and with the removeable SD cards you can have as much storage as you want. It does what it says on the box. It also takes reasonable quality still shots. All in all it's compact size makes it a winner in my book (which is the reason I bought it). The only gripe is that the battery only lasts an hour (about 1GB of 'footage') before needing a re-charge, however I bought some spare batteries which are not expensive.

Small and pretty good
I bought this camera beause i was looking for something cute and small.
This is definatly Cute, and small.. but it takes grainy videos, which i suppose is expected of a compact camera.
It's not much bigger then a cellphone, and it has quite a few nice features and an INCREDIBLE zoom. My battery lasts for abotu 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.
Great buy, but if your looking for crystal clear quality you wont find that here.

Simplicity, value, and portability
This camera is very simple, portable, and worth your money. Although the video and still images aren't the sharpest or vidid, it provides an acceptable quality which you'd expect from a $300 camera. Previously, I purchased the Sony DCR-SR42 for $650 and I found it wasn't that much better then the images I got from this camera (Not $350 dollars worth!) I returned the sony and got this one which saved me some money. Check the reviews of this product, including CNET...you'll find a majority of positive reviews. Simply put, if you want the most bang for your buck, appreciate simplicity and portability, and you're not shooting for professional quality, this camera is for you. Other things to note:
*The battery only last for 70 minutes (you may want to purchase a
spare if you're going to shoot for longer)
*The camera uses SD memory, which you need to purchase to use this
camera. 2GB is enough if you're not shooting for over an hour.

Good Video and picture quality
This is a nice video camera for the price. The video and picture quality is as good as any standard camcorders, so don't be fooled by the size or shape of this. This is a fully functional video camera. It takes high resolution still images as well.
The only 2 downsides: MPEG-4 isn't compatible with Windows MovieMaker. It seems compatible with other video software (Sony Vegas, Adobe, etc...), but I was disappointed that the video won't play in Windows Media player or movie maker without converting. I am sure this will change at some point though once MS catches up.
I have a bit of trouble with the camera feature (still image), doesn't seem to want to take right away, etc...but I think that is just a lack figuring it out.
Overall, I'd recommend this camera, especially for the price.

This is a great little camera...
This is a great camera for its size. I wanted it to take on vacations, and already have an SLR camera to lug around, so I needed something really small. Because of its size, it's a bit of a challenge to keep it still while filming. It has image stabilization, so that's great. I can't keep it still while holding it with one hand, but after a little practice, I'm doing well with two hands.
After reading reviews on the CG65, which is what I initially wanted but couldn't find, I was worried about lens flare. Some people had said it was bad even when you weren't shooting into the sun, and when it was overcast. I'm happy to report that, at least on my camera, it's only a problem when shooting toward the sun. And that would be expected. I did have an issue shooting inside once, when there was a light behind my nephew... there was a little blue spot right in the middle of the screen when the light was showing, but then when his body was blocking the light, it changed to a blue line that ran the height of the screen. Strange. But we turned that light off, and then everything was fine.
The auto controls such as white balance and film speed do not work well at all. If you shoot in a dimly lit room with auto film speed, it'll go to a higher film speed which gives you more graininess, but doesn't really look any brighter. I found that setting it on 100 film speed permanently gives you the same brightness, but no graininess. Also, the auto white balance inside a room will look really yellow, but when I set it on incandecent, it looks fine. Just have to remember to change it when you go outside, or it will look blue.
This thing takes great still photos. You can also take photos while you are filming, but it stops the filming for a second, so you'll see a pause in your video.
The battery life is my main complaint. I have filled my 2 GB card only 2/3 full, and already gone through two battery lives. You'll need a spare battery for this one.
You can't play these videos with Windows Media Player. I downloaded a free player called VLC Media Player that works great.

Best camcorder of its type for the money!
I was really intrigued by the Flip Ultra video camera. Compact form factor, no more tapes, extremely easy to use and directly connect the camcorder to your PC via onboard USB connector.
Problem was that the features on the Flip Ultra were limited, or should I say non-existent. I wanted to look for a similar camera with just a few more features, without losing the simplicity and ease of use.
Then I came across the Xacti line of camcorders from Sanyo, read a review of the C6 from Steve's Digicams and I was hooked on trying one of these little guys. Then I found the CG6 at Walmart just before Christmas 2007 for $100 less than Amazon's standard price. I bought one for myself, 2 for Christmas gifts for my nephews, one as a Christmas bonus for our babysitter and talked a friend into getting one for himself for Christmas.
Everyone who received this camera loves it! The video is very good and the still shots are excellent. The more I play with this camera, the more I find it can do. If the automatic settings don't give you perfect results, play around and you will eventually find the perfect setting for each type of video or still shot.
I don't know why more people aren't raving about this camera, for the money it may be the best choice in the Xacti line. It is so small you can take it anywhere. Having your camcorder with you most of the time increases the probability that you will capture that perfect shot or video.
One of the best features compared to standard tape based DV cameras is the ease of file transfer. With a standard tape based DV camcorder, you have to capture video in real-time via a firewire connection, then edit the footage and recompress for your desired output. With the CG6, simply remove your SD card from the camcorder, insert it in a card reader attached to your PC, transfer the file to your PC in minutes, then start editing in your favorite editor. (.mp4 is not directly supported by Windows Movie Maker, but Vegas, Ulead and other editors support it)
Stills I have printed from this camera are incredible, as good as photos from my Canon digicams. Check out your local Walmart, if instock it will be at a bargain price!

very disappointing
Would not buy this product again. If you have any problem with a sanyo product, you will NEVER get service from this company. After 2 weeks of sending meails and several hours of calling every Sanyo customer service number I could find online, I just gave up. You will only get voice-prompts, circular loops, and deaed-end messages. DON'T BUY SANYO

Good videocam, recommended if you value size and convenience over picture quality
A very small, nice and handy videocam. Easy to use and easy to link to computer. Picture quality could be better and especially when panning, the recordings will be a little shaky. Still, however, taking the camera size and price into account, quality is satisfactory.
Overall, totally worth the money and a great pick if you value size and convenience over perfect picture quality.

Happy As A Clam
I wanted a camcorder for an upcoming trip to Europe but did not want something that took up a lot of space or required a great deal of study and practice before operating (I am definitely not a gadget-techie!) I was immediately attracted to the solid, sleek, compact design of the Sanyo xacti CG6 but decided to do my homework before diving blindly into the purchase. After spending hours scouring the internet for reviews and product demonstrations I felt confident this was exactly what I was looking for. I am very happy to announce that it performed beautifully on my trip - not a glitch, easy to operate (even for me)for the price it's perfect and I couldn't be happier!

easy to use, very compact the best christmas present from me; to me.
For almost a month I looking for the next digital camera, after visiting many stores and searching the net, i saw this cute model, made by sanyo,cg6, I went to a few stores and they didn't have in stock, so I went to [...] and found this offer of the digital camcorder with the memory card for an excellent price, then when i recieve it the same day I used it without the instructions. So I can tell you it's a small camera with a lot of options to chose, and of course easy to handle.
The truth it was a good buy, an amazing product, so I can tell I am satisfied with the product that I bought at [...]

Very easy to use!
Sanyo delivers in a compact simple cam corder that uses SD cards for memory making it easy to transport to a PC. I do recommend purchasing an extra battery because they go quickly.

Great design and feature set. Poor quality control.
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2315JHVQRG6JT Let's get right down to it. A stuck pixel on the CCD and the audio is not in sync with the video. Don't know how this one got through quality control. A refurb is supposed to operate up to factory specs upon being inspected or repaired. A stuck pixel is ok on the display but definitely not on rendered video. Other than that, it's totally awesome.

like it

Best of the Standard Def Palmcorders! Mac/PC Compatible!
I highly recommend this camera for the family enthusiast wanting to capture moments with a decent picture quality, but without the need of DV or HD quality video.
We did a lot of research on cameras before purchasing the Sanyo Xacti CG6 and I remain surprised that this camera is not more popular. Of all the palmcorders, this one is by far the most well rounded. For starters, it has a decent picture (for a palmcorder), the image stabilization is ok (not super, but noticeably working), and it's MP4 format is easy to work with. Major bonus points go to this camera for the decent size and camcorder like view screen, removable SD media and removable battery. For shooting the baby, we find the pivoting/rotating and big screen really nice. Unlike other palmcorders, you can carry extra SD cards and batteries, which is a huge benefit. I also like the the amount of manual control available, and the menu system is comprehensive and easy to navigate. Finally, being a Mac OSX guy, this camera mounts like a drive and the MP4 format imports seamlessly into Mac apps, particularly iMovie. The USB 2.0 port is easily accessed and files transfer VERY fast to the computer. I use a 4GB SDHC card and the highest video setting (640x480, 30fsp, 3Mbps), which stores 2:45 of video, and a spare card in the camera bag. I also have spare battery, but have not yet needed it (I rarely shoot more than an hour between transfers to the computer).
There are only a couple of things that I think could be improved on this camera (and I really have to dig to think them up):
- it would be nice if there was an internal lens cap, but the one it's got is ok
- The 6MP stills are mediocre in quality. But, that's why we have a digital camera and this is a video camera.
- we found a case that really protects the controls well, they seem a little vulnerable to damage.

Best for travel!!!!
I bought this camera for a trip to New York. I wanted something small. What I recieved was a camera no bigger than my cell phone, perfect! The ease of video recording was a blessing and the hand position was natural. Every control was thumb operated, natural. The single shot quality was on par with my high dollar Cannon. At 18 hours of record time and 4000 stills, I never worried about an extra card. Picture, sound, still quality was suprising after being downloaded to the best software I have recieved from a manufacturer. Drawbacks?, Only one, needed a tripod when using the zoom, it was so strong that it was difficult to hold still. Did I mention stereo sound in playback? Very cool!!!!Forget the big hand helds, this is the future! Oh! wait! I have it! It's here! Buy it if you can find it!!!

Fast shipping
Great little camera. I was considering the purchase of a new flip camera until I found this camera. With a true optical zoom and small size it is the ideal camera to throw in you pocket or backpack for any outing.
My only complaint is that the manual is somewhat confusing but that's a common problem for digital cameras in general.

Good times had by all!
The camera is extremly easy to use and the most refreshing part about it, is you don't have to install any software on your computer to load the video files. Just plug it in, click and drag.

Great little camcorder
And I do mean little. This camcorder is about the size of a deck of cards and packs a lot in its small package. I had originally looked into the Panasonic SDR-S7K camcorder but the Sanyo had a lot more to offer. Having a quality digital camera and a camcorder in one small package is the only way to go. Video is on a par with the Hi-8 format video camera. It's not Hi-Def but it doesn't claim to be. Digital camera photos are very good and clear. Its Macro focus in a lot better than every other digital camera that I own. It will focus down to about 1/3". The biggest mystery to this camera is why it isn't sold in more stores. I looked everywhere before I bought to get a hands-on look but it could not be found anywhere. Bottom line is that you can't go wrong with this camera.

No moving parts
And no tapes. I like the size, its very portable. I can take it where ever I go. It has a nice big screen. It takes pictures as well as shoot video. It has a 6 MP sensor, and good stereo sound. It create standard mpeg4 files that can be directly imported into imovie with no conversion needed. Video quality is better than my DV tape. It has trouble with low light, but not terrible and is completely usable, just don't expect a thousand dollar quality. Highly recommended. Cold Eyes
