Canon 40D and EOS 1Ds Mark III on the Internet

The rumours about two new camera models from Canon seem to corroborate. The international version of Amazon.com lists two brand new cameras with complete specifications, which do not seem to have been submitted by a shop or associate-partner. There is a 10.1 megapixel body which can be pre-ordered for 20th September 2007 at the price of $1,299, named Canon 40D. The specifications suggest that this is a successor to the previous Canon 30D and 20D. Also available is information about a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III with 21.1MP Sensor at the price of 7,999 US-Dollars. The shipping date for this new pro-body is announced for 10th December 2007.

IFA 2007 ahead

Official product photos currently cannot be found for the two new canon camera bodies, but the upcoming IFA Expo 2007 suggests that these rumours will be confirmed. Also last year several camera manufacturers did not hold back their announcement until the expos started. Instead they plugged releases on the internet a few weeks before the show began.

Also Foveon-Like Technology is expected from Nikon

More news are expected from Canon’s competitor Nikon, too. A very resourceful user of the internet website dpreview.com spotted US Patent 7,138,663, assigned to Nikon Corporation of Japan, on 9th August 2007. The patent contains information for a new Foveon-like image sensor that records more color and sharpness than before. The Foveon image sensor has been in the market for a while after beeing installed in several SIGMA camera DSLR bodies.
