Canon HV20 :: Compact HDV1080i in 25p underwater,
It really looks like the small high definition camcorders are waking up. Just shortly after Sony announced their new HDR-HC 7 and HDR-HC 5, Canon chimes in with their HV20. The novelty from Canon is progressive High Definition recording at a so far non-existant size / smallness. Der True-HD-CMOS-Sensor works with 2.96 Megapixels at 1920x1080 resolutions. Canon claims to introduce the first cinema-like recording camcorder at this class. “His Smallness” also is available at a smaller price than Sony’s current Flagship. The suggested retail price is 1.299 EUR in Germany. In their Press release Canon does not aggressively market the light sensitivity and just mentions night mode values as the sensor has the same size as Sony’s HC-5 which is also placed at the same price.

Canon HV20: HDV1080i Consumer Camcorder
uh, what does this have to do with underwater videography?
is there a housing for this?
if not, then it's irrelevant, right?
There is a housing for it. Just have a look at the left side.
Sony SPK HCB for 149.95 from B & H is will hold the Canon HV20. You will have to jury rig controls, but what a bargin!!!! Quick and easy entry and removal of the camera. Move the hand strap away for use. Mirror allows use of LCD screen while filming.
It's one of the best camcorders out there. I use it for weddings on the side,when I am not photographing.
