We left our base in the west and moved to the east of the island. And for everybody who thinks it is ridiculous to announce a successful hotel change online – read on and find out about our odyssey on the streets of curacao.
Digideep Ralley
Three big divebags, pelicase, 2 Photo Backpacks, Laptops and wet divegear – when we left our car was packed. We wanted to make some nice landshots on the way and reach our hotel "Chogogo" while daylight. But just when we left the last houses of westpunt and came as far that it is exactely just too far to walk in any direction we heard a loud "bang". The car started sliding and stuntman Andi just about managed to stop it safely. We got out of the car and see the exploded tire. And all around us nothing but sand, dry bushed, cactusses and locals that drive by way too fast and that don't even think about helping us. We thought: No problem, let's fix it with the spare tire. So we took all the bags out of the trunk, took the spare tire and ... where is the car jack? After 20 minutes searching: still no car jack. After constantly refusing Andis idea to try putting the car on my pelicase to change the tire i finally volonteered to walk to the next village to get help. After having walked about 100 meters Andi starts shouting. I turn around and see him smiling with the car jack in his hands – it was under the driver seat. What a stupid place to keep it. After about 20 Minutes we have managed to change the tire and and start driving to our hotel. But not without stopping at a supermarket and buying a case of beer. We really needed that.
