Red Sea Digital Underwater Photo Expedition 2006 Trip Journal
What we dived today:
01: Dive#1 Temple
02: Night# Temple
Shortly after 2:00 pm everybody arrived on board and we were able to set sail. The trip participants include Hannes Fischer (nullzeit.at) and Julian Blair arriving from Mauretania. As Julian is originally from Australia and Hannes from Austria there were quickly classified as our “Aussies” charming everybody with their accents. Female support comes from Italy. Red Sea activist and King Senfro’s frequent customer Louisa Minet gives the trip the usual European combo mix, which we happen to have on most of our trips. Not to forget our honeymooners Barbara (the Swiss girl) and Yehia (the smiling man from Egypt). Both PADI instructors who live and work in Dahab. They are taking a well deserved break with us. Due to some last-minute cancellations we have plenty of space aboard the KS3. Normally this boat hosts up to 16 divers, but was scheduled for 10. This year’s expedition is accompanied by Sylvie and Andi from DIGIDEEP, taking care of the photographic needs of our guests. The reduced participant number allows us to give individual photo tips and run a more intense digital underwater photo clinic than usual.
Warm greetings to the people we miss this year:
Lars, Magi, Angelika, Christoph, Kossi, Ingvar,
Eva, Derek, Marcel, Pia, René, Ecki, Tom
…hopefully see you onboard the new boat July 2007!
Hi Andy, I wish I could be there with you. We could test the two big Sony videocameras and their housings...
All the best (and shots)
Julius
The Red Sea is amazing. So many wrecks and lots of drift diving! I have wanted to go there for quite some time and when I finally did it didn’t let me down. But the driving force that made me get of my bum and go was the chance to learn the Basics of Photography from a pro. The photo expedition was a great chance for me to be around other divers all interested in Photography. The PADI Photography course like all PADI courses was very rewarding (and well suited to my learning style). I have “finally” grasped the theory of Aperture size, shutter speed and even ISO. By far my favorite lesson learnt would be that of Manual White Balancing, at last I get some Colour in my underwater shots!!
My hat is off to Andreas for a great trip and course and would recommend that any body interested in Photography jump at the chance to attend one of his Expeditions
Dear Julius and Julian,
thank you very much for this rewarding comments. It motivates me to continue my path as a photographer and teacher. I think, I have to organize another photo expedition with course for next year.
