Hi,

I am looking to buy a small digital camera that I can also use while diving. I am a relatively new diver so don’t know much about the various housings. I am choosing between the Canon SD300-S500 (IXUS 30-50), Sony DCS-W5 and the Nikon Coolpix 4700 or so.

My dive instructor told me that canon UW housings are not so good. And that Sony and Nikon are the best.

Any suggestions or experiences?
Thanks
Priyanka

Housing is named Ehs-510H, looks very similar to the housing for the VPC-C5/C6 just a bit larger (since the camera is a bit bigger) this may end up being my next toy of interest since it has a much better battery than the VPC-C5/C6 (much larger 1200mAh instead of 700mAh)

I would appreciate some advice. I have a Canon A640 Powershot which I am getting some good photos with. I also have a Nikon D70S. Would I get better photos with the Nikon using say a Ikelite housing but without strobes ? ie relying on the camera flash alone ? I also have Nikon SB 102 and SB 103 strobes and Ikleite strobes from Nikonos V days - can I add them to the Ikelite housing for the Nikon D70s ? cant decide whether to use the Nikon D70s for u/w photography or to keep it for land shots. Thanks for any advice.

If everything is hooked up right, it should be working. Not sure which camera and housing you have, but all the manuals are available on-line at seaandsea.com

Also make sure your flash is set to fire in the custom functions in the menu.
