Komodo Islands Indonesia - Live Aboard Photo Trip

We have chartered a Phinisi Schooner for a series of underwater photo trips through the famed Komodo Islands in Indonesia this year. These trips are guided by Australian underwater photo-journalist Jeff Mullins and his wife Dawn, who currently live in Bali.

These are dive trips for experienced divers with at least a basic understanding of Underwater Photography Principles. Jeff will be offering personal photo instruction, as well as some round-the table instruction/workshops between dives and in the evenings. We are maximising time at the area’s peak photographic sites and there will be a maximum of 10 divers/photographers onboard, the size of the groups has been limited to offer the best in personal help with photography and to minimise the number of divers on each dive site at one time.

We have two only places onboard one of these departures in September 2008. The Details are:

* Depart Bali Sunday 14th September 10am flight to Flores (approx 1hour 30 minutes flight time).
* Arrive Flores 11.30am and transfer direct to live-aboard (15 minutes drive from Airport).
* Pack luggage on boat and depart with lunch onboard, with first dive/s the same afternoon.
* 7 nights on live-aboard in air-conditioned twin cabin with ensuite, with all diving - two/three dives per day, (dependant on locations/depths).
* Daily photography help, informal photo workshops and image reviewing/editing in evenings.
* Three meals a day (plus snacks) on live-aboard, including coffee, tea, drinking water.
* One afternoon dedicated to searching (with a national park guide) for Komodo Dragons.
* Sunday 21st September morning transfer from live-aboard to Flores Airport.
* Depart midday Flores to Bali and arrive approx. midday at Domestic Airport on Bali (adjacent to International Airport - if you are transferring direct).

Cost of the trip including all of the above is US$1565 per person twin share (includes flight costs Bali-Flores-Bali. A deposit of US$500 per person is required by 31st July, balance due 30 days prior to trip departure.

The above cost does NOT include:
* Any rental diver equipment. (only tanks and weight belts are supplied - let us know prior if you need any equipment).
* Komodo National Park Fee’s (approx US$30 per person, payable on departure from Labuanbajo)
* Airport departure taxes in Bali & Flores (approx. US$4 in total)
* Excess Baggage (25kgs per person is free).
* Alcohol & Soft Drinks. (Soft Drinks, Beer and limited wines/spirits will be available onboard, but are extra).
* Transfers to/from airport in Bali.

Mark Webster will be hosting a photo workshop at Tauch Terminal in Tulamben Bay, perhaps the best known dive site in Bali and home to the spectacular wreck of the USS Liberty. What makes Tulamben so attractive for photographers is that within a few metres walk you have a truly world class wreck dive, muck diving, shallow reef diving and a wall dive. There is a stunning variety of marine life and different habitats to keep your camera busy for a week or more.

The workshop will include daily presentations from Mark, the opportunity to ask questions throughout the day and a competition to find the best image of the week.

Hi everybody. I saw that the SanDisk Red Sea Competition Website is currently offline for a facelift.
Does anybody already have the new official date for next year. As usual Lars and I will be the to
make a live webcast, but we would love to meet more people from our site in Eilat.

BOOT EXPO 2003 / digideep.com usermeeting !!

The BOOT EXPO in Duesseldorf, Germany is taking place from 18.01.2003 - 26.01.2003. It is a great water-sports exhibition with a complete sector for the diving industry. As many divers gather there every year, we would like to organize a digideep usermeeting 2003.

Red Sea Expedition 2007 (official DIGIDEEP trip)

Hello Everyone,

we just wanted to let you know that we are running another Red Sea Expedition
tailored to underwater photographers and videographers in July 2007. This video
should give you a good idea on what you can expect to see.

Please decide soon and plan your holiday. The first week has only 3 spots
left, without officially announcing the trip and we already booked a second
boat to have enough room in week two.

Also note that we use two luxurious, small, versatile boats instead of the now
common cattle carriers with 30 divers. The boats of the King Snefro Fleet, we
selected for our expedition 2007 usually carry no more than 12 persons. The Fleet
Manager was kind enough to arrange this special trip with only 8 guests on each
boat so you can enjoy all the space an underwater photographer requires.

We will cater especially to your needs. You can rely on the fact that we provide
enough power plugs, camera rinse tanks (sunshaded), a laptop lobby to share
your images with others, also permanent photo/video guidance from Lars or
Andi. The crew is very experienced in handling and storing your cameras
when coming back from the dive.

The tour dates are
Week #1: 19th July - 26th July 2007 (update: full!)
Week #2: 26th July - 2nd August 2007 (update: only 6 spaces left on 2nd boat)

The costs are 699 EUR per Week including food,
accommodation, unlimited diving and airport transfer
from Sharm El Sheikh (SSH), Ophira Airport in Egypt.
You can also stay the full two weeks with us.

You have the options, to:
- take a digital photo course on board
- get trained as a PADI D.U.P. instructor
- Participate in a live shootout with cash prizes onboard

There are also trip reports and photos online from our last cruise
and the one we organized two years ago (report in German).
