Sony Handycam DCR-SR52 : which housing do you recommend ?

Hi everyone out there,

This is Val from Brussels, Belgium.

I own a video camera DCR-SR52 Sony Handycam. I need a housing for it. I thought of buying one from Top Dawg.

On the website, the Compatibility Chart does not mention the DCR-SR52 Sony Handycam for the Top Dawg II or III.
However, I have just checked the camera. I has both the A/V Out and the Remote control jacks.
What should I do ? Can I trust that this housing will fit my camera ? even if the Chart does not mention my camera ?

Can someone help me out here ?

Many thanks,

Val

HOUSING 100m HELP!

Hi, I’m student of Electronic Engineering at the PUCP(http://www.pucp.edu.pe) and I’m working in a project to get my degree. It’s like a lowcost ROV to help researches of fishering gears in the peruvian context, the project is for the IMARPE(http://www.imarpe.gob.pe) the National Institute of the Peruvian Sea. I’m looking for the housing of the device, mostly I’m in the search of a transparent material in order to allow the camera to film. At first I thought in a bubble or just a circular glass.

I would like to get an estimate of the cost of the followings solutions for material wich its going to work about 100m-200m of deepnes:
A bubble: semi-esphere of 15cm of diameter
A circular shape also about 15cm of diameter
An entire cilindric chasis 15cm of diameter 30 cm height/ 20cm of height

I hope you can help me,

Best regards,

Question on Sony HC5 with Equinox housing

I am new to filming and have a sony HC5 and an Equinox Pro6 housing.
I know it is not top of the line gear but I would have thought good picture quality would still be achievable?
Anyway I am having problems with my footage being severely out of focus. I have played around with the focus distance and it does not seem to have an effect.
I dive in fairly cold water in New Zealand and one of my dive buddies suggested that I might be getting condensation on the inside of the dome or on the camera lens due to the changes in temperature. This seems plauseable as it seems to get worse as the dive goes on. I have tried everything, even applying anti-fog to all surfaces.
Has anyone got any ideas that might help me?
Keep in mind I do not know the problem yet, so I am open to ideas.

Best HD Video/Housing Rig for Beginner

I am new to UW videography and would greatly appreciate getting some recommendations from the experts on this board. I would prefer to go with HD, since that’s where things are heading anyway and the footage may be used for broadcast. Having said that, I’m not interested in anything too large or elaborate since most of my footage will be at “recreational” depths in the Caribbean with the usual subjects—- people, critters, coral and rock formations. As for housing, I’m leaning toward electronic (hoping to err on the side of “user friendly") but I realize there are many other factors to consider.

So the question is. If you were just starting out, based on the equipment currently available, what HD camera(s) and housing(s) would you recommend?

Thanks!

I am looking for an underwater housing for the above camcorder. On this site I came very close, meaning HC16. Would anyone know, whether this housing would be suitable, or where I could find a suitable housing?

Thanks a lot!

Many thanks,

Underwater performance of Sanyo Xacti HD1000 żany experience?

Hello,

As Sanyo Xacti HD1000 is getting hot by some people that seeks an underwater small package to shoot video i am concerned with the REAL PERFORMANCE in low light at the bottom, sun or surface light in the image, etc. Some people i know is getting quite bad results in surface shoots in low light (for the specs of the camera) while waiting for the underwater housing to use it in the “real thing”. My video is used for broadcast purposes and last Xactis did not perform very well in the past.

Has anybody first hand experience with this new model and its performance UNDERWATER?
