it wont help you to post stuff online ... stories and pictures ... you need to send it for a service ...

from what i see in the images though it is no different from any other PT housing ... i’d imagine it’s fine.

but send it for a service and you will find out.

Do u really think i’m trying to gain sympathy? I apologies if i gave the wrong impression.

What i’m trying to bring across is that OLY on my side does not provide good product support and inferior quality of the housings sold.

The fact is :
1. There are cracks on the housing, mine is not an isolated case
2. Olympus singapore does not ack it as a manufacturer’s defect
3. OLY SGP has no cap. to repair the housing.
4. OLY SGP does not give warranty on the housings they sell.
5. OLY japan requires me to send the housing to japan together with warranty card(where there is non) and proof of purchase.

Rather than solely dependant on OLY to get it fiixed, I’ve sent my housing to the professionals for repair and pressure testing.

I have two miu 600 with the corresponding housing. I bought them in March and I have used them maybe 20 times (no student use and I am very diligent with the o-rings and the treatment of the cameras!!). One of them is ALREADY leaking at the lense and one is overall always very damp at the end of the dive! I am immensly disappointed as I have a sony camera with housing (for over 1 year now) and I use it for students and it has already done at least a 100 dives (!!!!) and it never leaked even the tiniest bit, and even without silicone gel pack it is always dry!!!!

I bought two because they were recommended to me - from PADI Europe and the person who wrote the PADI Digital Underwater photography manual.
Unfortunately, I have friends owning a dives school and they have exactly the same problem as I have with exactly the same cameras!

Good thing I bought them from PADI and thus I got a one year flooding garuantee on both cameras. Shame I can’t get my money back and buy myself two Sony W1 (I know they just have 5m pixels and it is older - but the pics are better than with the mju 600 as well - on land and underwater) instead, they would have been cheaper and better!!!

I have had two Olympus PT-023 housings for the 8080. I used two YS-90 Strobes with the set-up I dove with the first over 80 dives until i put it once in my suitcase with the port attached. One of the little clips that hold it on sheared off in travel. Not warrented against that. Makes sense to also take it off, my bad. I also had Dan insurance. The housing cost $230 after owning it for 4 months. It was less than my deductible. So I just bought the second one. I dove this one for maybe 30-40 dives. Unlil I flooded it :( (a dessicant pack folded over and stuck in the o-ring) Didn’t flood in the tank just on the way down! Both housings seemed pretty good to me, They didn’t show much wear at all. I would buy another, no problem. I figured it was an omen to finally go DSLR. I bought a Canon 5d and put it in an Aquatica housing. LOVE IT! That’s my 2 cents.

The Oly housing problems must vary from model to model.

I have two PT-010 housings with hundreds of dives on each of them and no signs of stress fractures or leaks.

The only part that failed is the zoom control return spring. It broke on both housings. I have adapted the housings to work without them.

Hi Simone,

good to see that you show up here! I am sorry to read that about your cameras. After what I have been through with the mju600 I really consider it as indestructible and that is what I told people who where interested in the product. My experience comes from half-year touring with the camera for training PADI instructors. I did not experience what you described above. It is strange and I think they must have released a batch of “monday-models” which you now suffer from. I’d be very interested to hear how the warranty claim is handled. Maybe you can report back on that here.
