I have a Sony TRV-130 (I think that is the model, not handy right now) which is in the same family as the your camera. The cameras were all very similar in nature, and in fact the TRV was a lower end model and is two years older.
The TRV-130 was Digital 8 as oppossed to DV, and some people say that because of the size of the Tape (Digital 8 is larger) it may have done a better job than DV tapes even though they are both shooting DV. Sort of techincal and probably more form over substance.
Regardless I shot this camera ALOT in a basic Gates housing and got alot of real nice stuff. The down side was I did not have a WA Lens and also the Red Filter had to be either on or off with my rig since it screwed into the camera which was then placed in the housing. That being said the price/performance was great.
Usually the housings for these are basic, start, stop, power and maybe a couple of other things, but again more than eenough to get your feet wet.
Ikelite makes a housing for about $700 us and it does have an external filter and you can add an Inon WA to it if you like (67mm)
Light & Motion (Stingray) also makes real nice stuff so you cannot go wrong.
If you can swap the red filter off and on and grab a light (even a big dive light, not high end but not too expensive :D ) and you will be happy I would guess.
Like I said my rig held me in good stead for quite awhile and I really like it except for the couple of things above, plus it is kind of big (I also carry photo gear so that makes it a bit more of an issue for me) and I am moving into HDV now
The rig is not going to be IMAX quality, but for seeing your dives and for people who do not dive, you will probably be pleased. I kill a lot of time editing my stuff now and it is alot of fun
Let me know if this makes sense.
