Could use some help sifting through advantages/disadvantages of using Canon PS70 vs Olympus SP350.  I have my eyes on both of them.  I am just venturing into the underwater photography world.

Any advice as far as selecting one over the other would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Unless one has a feature the other one lacks that you woud like

( i think they ar eboth equal on features)

I would go for the newer one. the SP350.

thats pure haven’t played with the new SP350 opinion.

What do you think of the Canon S80?  Doesn’t have RAW format capabilities but some other features that S70 doesn’t have.

The Canon P&S S70 uses the RAW compression format while the s80 uses jpeg only.  Too bad Canon removed this feature!  There are no plans for adding this back in per their Tech support.

I have my P&S S80 housed in an Ikelite plastic casing and it has access to all camera controls.  The movie clips at 30 fps 640 res is very good. the 1024 captures at 15 fps only and the motion is a little jerky at this setting.

Maybe someone will hack the S80 digital cam software to get it to save the images in the RAW format, so far I’ve heard it’s been done to the A610,620 models.
