Thanks to our user Christian Fries, who just informed us in our German forums, that SONY
today announced two new compact camcorders with CMOS Sensors for HighDefinition.
Let us know what you think about them and if you would wait or instead go for one
of the price-falling HC1 or HC3 models which seem more and more hard to get.

Too funny, I had also dropped a line when I saw this (there is actually four models on this side of the Atlantic) .

As you may know I have an HC-3, and now giving a look at the HC-7 since it has a larger sensor, and my guess performs better (we will see)

Since housings usually do not drop that radically in price when new cameras come out, I would think if I was shopping now to hold off for a month or so to see what the new camera brings.  With technology being 1 year more mature over the HC-3 could be worthwhile to wait.  Of course we are all always chasing technology and the housings probably will not show for at least 3-4 months

I am not sure if the HC1 would be something to go for anymore - it would seem that in certain ways the HC3 was better, such as lower lux.

looks like we have a new player in that segment. Shortly after SONY the
Canon HV20 was introduced. It features 25p but does not have a larger
sensor such as the SONY HC 7. So what would you buy in the next month?

Hi Guys I,ve just brought the HC7 and Amphico housing to suit with their new dive lights. I’ve had a Olympus 5050 setup since they came out. But the under water video is unbelievable. Just wondering if anybody else has same set up.
