Hi the 60mm Crop Macro from Canon and the 100mm USM Macro
are also the lenses I would recommend for U/W. The drastic zoom
you mentioned is definitely a downer. Most people forget that they
can move around / hover underwater in almost any angle and do
not need to compensate that by a very flexible zoom lens.
ey guys, im adrien from the philippines. Im a canon user as well. I used to use an ixus 400 with a canon housing and I know use a 350d in a patima housing. To those that havent heard about PATIMA it is a korean brand, they have housings for the 350d and the 400d. I use a 50mm, 100mm for macro work and have tested a 10-22mm with the dome port. I use ultralight arms and clamps and 2 z240 INON strobes. I am planning to upgrade though to a 5d and an aquatica housing. If you would like to preview some pictures of my macro work here’s the link aquaboy’s photos
Hi,
I’m new in Digideep and also use a Canon system. My primary equipment for UW shots is a Canon EOS 5D housed by Aquatica and the following lenses: Canon FE 15mm, Canon EF 100mm Macro, Canon EF 17-40mm L and Canon EF 24mm L.
Welcome to DIGIDEEP.com! you have very nice photos in your Gallery.
I especially liked the fan shot at Bonaire..
Your Aquatica 5D images are a good base for a review?
Would you mind to write one? I bet many visitors would
love to know your opinion about the nice housing and
eTTL converter that is installed.
My previous Camera was a 300d which I sold recently for a very good price (the guy was really happy too) I used it with two YS-90 AUTO. It worked really good.
Now I do own a Canon 350d with 10-22mm, 18-55mm and 100mm makro. This one has S6, so I guess I need to sell my strobes too, or to change bulkheads and build in a TTL converter, or option three, to forget about TTL.
Does anyone have experience where to get Sea&Sea;to S6 Cables?
i have just recently got my hands on a canon Eos 350d, and i am planning to get the sea and sea DX350d for it within the next few months. I also managed to grab a second hand sea and sea YS-50 ttl strobe for a mere 18 euros on ebay.
Now i am thinking of getting a new lens but as a student i am a bit short on cash so i will have to choose between a wide angle or a macro. I am realy into macro fotography but you guys have any ideas which lens is real good value for money
Im Canon 350 (Rebel XT) user and now im planing to get my underwater equipment for it…
Planing to buy Ikelite housing
Got a question that i couldnt answer to myself
Reading that forum i learned that good lens for it is 15mm fisheye
I looked for sigma and found that - http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3279&navigator=4
My question is is it good for digital SLR Cameras because the few overviews i found on interned sais its for Film Cameras
Background is in freelance photography (not underwater).. however recently started diving, about 3 years ago and obviously started to take my camera underwater.. which was an Oly 5050, no strobe just ambient light pics.
Having used a 10D for most of my photography i have now upgraded this to a 400D + 10-22mm, in the process of getting an Ike housing & 8” dome.. will be heading out to northern Red Sea in July to see how i get on with it and in Nov off to Sudan diving also.
I will be up near Taba end of July beg Aug with my girlfreind and another couple (one of which is also a diver), so really just planning on some easy dives… it’s a warm up really to diving in Sudan in November (which is a liveaboard).
Canon G5 with Ikelite housing.
Upgrading to a Canon 5D and Ikelite housing.
Have a 100mm Macro, and a 17-40mmL zoom.
Can you give me some advice as to what ports, and port bodies should i buy ?? also, do I need any diopters for these lenses ?
thanks a lot !

Hi Best is to consult your local dealer or Ikelite for details.
however the macro needs to be put behind a flat port and
the 17-40L is good behind a dome. My advice: get the big
8” dome for better optical performance and you might even
do well without diopters behind that one.
In most cases diopters will diminish optical quality. You
will most likely also need an extension ring for both lenses.
