I have actually more or less the same question as Redhead in his post. I would like to know if the PADI Underwater Photography specialty is worth doing to improve your UW Photography skills? I already have knowledge about photography but I don’t know if there are major differences underwater e.g. balance settings, internal flash use etc.

I think there are some interesting aspects, that you will need
to learn when doing underwater photography. Your photography
knowledge will help you to understand things more quickly, but
the course will help you to avoid some of the mistakes.

Hi Bart,

taking pictures underwater has some obstacles and
digital photography has brought some new interesting
techniques into this harsh photographic environment.

When I consulted PADI on the course contents we tried
to include as much state of the art Tips & Tricks and
luckily all of them maintain valid.

Make sure your instructor teaches you also the
interesting aspects of filter photography underwater
combined with white balancing and how to make your
photos even better (while still diving) in part two of
the digital photo course.
