Hi voets,

nice shot, which lens did you use ?
I hope we will make it to Zeeland (again) this year, cause I also like to dive there. Which are your favourite Spots there (I have a dive map from there, so if just write the dutch names I should be able to locate those.) My favourite so far has been the Zeeland brug.

I finally got into the water with the BlueboxX and my Sony for the first time last Sunday. The visibility was poor and we did not see any fish, but I got at least some shots of a small larvae with the 100mm Macro.
Since I moved recently and the Telekom was not able to get my DSL & phone connection established yet, I cannot upload anything yet. (I´m posting from work right now).
@Andi: I finished my report on the BlueboxX and can provide it hopefully on Saturday, when the Telekom will try to fix my phone line (again).

Regards, Marc

This shot was with a sigma 15mm fisheye in the Ikelite 8 inch superdome. With only a single Ikelite DS-125
it was taken at a spot called ‘Dreischor’ in the Grevelingen lake (pretty welknown, probably number 21 or 22 on your map if it is the same one I have)

I can only do wide angle at the moment, the port I got for my 50mm macro is a bit too short, a longer one will be arriving somewhere next week.

Zeelandbrug is one of my favourites as well, although the last week everyone is complaing about the poor viz ( half a meter).
Zoetersbout is nice as well, scharendijke is a nice spot, as is Nieuwe Kerkweg

I hope sony or sigma will bring out a full fisheye for digital some day, that would be THE lens for UW photographers, something like Nikons 10.5 mm fisheye.

Dutch waters are not as bright an colorful as the rest of the world, so no corals here

Hey!  Green is a color! wink

Looks a lot like the water here in California, USA. Only some soft cup corals occasionally here.  What is your temperature?

Green is a color for sure. And I see a lot of matching brown mud to go with it.
There is still enough to photograph, when you look hard enough, but I’m always getting a bit jealous when I see photo’s from the rest of the world. Better viz, large mammals, coral and more.

Currently the temperatures aren’t bad at all, some 15 degrees celsius (59 fahrenheit)
I’d love to dive in the kelpwood of California one day

Hi, that sounds great!
Can you send Lars and me a private message on that?

And I finally got the fitting macro port for my minolta 50mm macro lens
tested it last weekend. Works very nice as well

This small creature is about 10cm / 4 inches in size
The amount of detail on the high res. version is really amazing

Hi voets,

also a nice picture you took. Could you attach the file, so I can take a look at your Exif-data. I would really like to know which settings you used.

I just submitted the attached picture of the pike for the weekly contest, so it will appear in the database for the Sony A.
I took it last weekend with the 100mm Macro.

Yesterday I took the shot of the little shrimp, which is about 4-5cm (1 1/2-2 inches) in size in the Baltic Sea close to Eckernförde.

I did some minor corrections of contrast and color on both pictures. Did you do any adjustment to your pictures ?

And does your Ikelite DS125 work with the TTL-setting. I couldn´t get it to work yet, so I had to set it manually.

P.S.: We have the same map as the Spot numbers you mentioned are identical with mine.

The little crayfish was taken at f/14 with 1/50s. I used the 50mm macro from minolta for it.
The complete EXIF can be found in my online log where this shot is from: http://www.ultimatedivelog.com/showphoto.php?usr_ID=1&img_ID=617 ( a little button before ‘Exif’ will reveal it)

The pike is very nice. I ran into one last week, but had the macro lens instead of wide angle with me:

The TTL connector works fabulous on the Ikelite housing. Like a dream come true. My shots are definitely improving over the ones I took with Sony F707 and Olympus C4000 in the past.

Hi,

just in case anyone is interested in new developments on the Sony A-System, I just found the following statement from a trade show (which was supposedly in March this year), where Sony displayed two new prototypes (one with a full sensor) to extend the product range:

This is the official press release from Sony (14 March 2007)“Sony is Set to Expand the World of “alpha” D-SLR

At the PMA2007 International Convention and trade Show which was held between March 8th and 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, Sony exhibited two prototypes of digital SLR camera bodies and interchangeable lenses currently under development. These products are planned to be launched in addition to the existing portfolio of the ‘alpha 100’ camera body and the 21 interchangeable lenses including Carl Zeiss® lenses and more than 45 pieces of accessories..

“We need to further solidify our position in the digital SLR market. To do that, we must cater to varying degrees of customer requirements, and we are working on the second wave of products in order to expand the world of ‘’ alpha,” said Toru Katsumoto, head of Sony’s AMC division responsible for digital SLR products, when speaking at Sony Electronics Inc.’s press conference. “Specifically, we are developing two new camera bodies targeted at higher market segments compared with the ‘alpha 100’,” he added.

The extended line-up is expected to give customers more options and allows them to trade up products as their skills mature. The second wave of products also includes interchangeable lenses suitable for high-end enthusiast and professional use. “With the added choice of camera bodies coupled with enlarged interchangeable lens portfolio, we believe ‘alpha’ helps our customers spur their creativity and putting it differently, ‘alpha’ unlocks the full potential of digital SLR,” Katsumoto concluded his speech.

Reinforced ‘alpha’ Portfolio
One of the prototypes displayed at the PMA2007 was a camera body positioned higher than the current ‘alpha 100’ to appeal to high amateur users. This new camera will deliver a high picture quality drawing on a new image sensor and new BIONZ image processing engine, both of which are currently under development. The new camera will also feature ‘Super SteadyShot inside.’ Already implemented in the ‘alpha 100,’ this optical image stabilisation system is effective with the full range of ‘alpha’ system lenses.

The other camera body prototype will represent the flagship model of the ‘alpha’ range. Offering features that meet demanding requirements from even professional photographers, this highest-end camera body also incorporates a new image sensor, BIONZ processor as well as ‘Super SteadyShot inside.’
One of these two new cameras is scheduled for launch during this calendar year.”

So for now, it looks like Sony is ramping up it´s commitment…
