I have just received an Email that I was nervously awaiting for a while.
Now I am a little bit sad but also proud. Read on to find out why…

Thank you so much for entering the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition 2007.
We received over 32,000 pictures from 78 countries - a record breaking year.
Unfortunately, your digital entries were not successful in this years competition.
To see if any of your images made it into the semi-final or final stages, login to our website.

After logging in I found that three of my images made it into the
Semi-Finals. I would like to share these with you in this post and
am very exited to find out if they are among the selected ones for
the prestigious yearbook or exhibition.

However much more I am interested in your feedback.

In total I entered 8 different photos and
placed these in four different categories.
Three of them seem to have done okay.

If you have previously entered the competition or if you
have any experience with this competition, I’d like to find
out how many images are selected into semi-final stage
and how to judge about this status.

Short description: This dolphin isolated from it’s pod stoped by and gave me an
intense eye-contact while the sun made perfect patterns on his forehead.

Short description: Even with dolphins a buddy team seems to play an essential
role. These two never seperated while I stayed with them.

Short description: These Carribean Reefsharks are constantly monitoring the reef
for food options. While doing so they have to maintain a close
working distance to each other. The B/W technique also was useful
to bring up the byte-marks on one of the specimen which is
supposed to be a recent leftover from a mating procedure.

what a pity, nice images anyway…

did any other digideep member enter the contest? would be interesting to see
how many of us had images among the 32,000 others?

Great images!  I will look for your photos at the exhibit in London.  Then I might have to ask for an autograph!
