Recently I’ve bought a Canon HV10 camcorder and I was looking for a suitable housing.
I’ve stumbled upon the Ikelite #6070 housing.

Does anyone have any experience with this combination ?

Dear Jack,

interesting question. As far as I know the HV10 does not have
a remote jack / LANC - so the Ikelite housing with mechanical
controls is going to be one of the few choices you have.

We would be glad to hear back on your
experience if you decide to buy the system.

I have the housing.

I will post a longer test review (sorry, in German) within the next few days, so let me just give you a short summary. The housing is great, one of the best I have ever seen. All functions are accessible through the housing. As the HV10 has no LANC, housings are limited to manual and infrared. Ikelite has solved this perfectly and the only disadvantage obvious to me is the limitation to exactly this camcorder. If this is no problem for you, I would always recommend it. What you get for this price is unbeaten. Some larger US internet photo equipment shops sell the Ikelite, so I would always recommend to buy one there, because you have a return warranty and can have a more detailed look before you finally buy it.

Cheers, Greg

Hi Greg, be careful with this advice. There is no general return warranty by
law like we have here in Germany/Europe in the USA. Also I always hear
from my friends abroad that there is more Internet fraud then in Germany.

I agree, Andy. This is a hint for US people, I do not suggest to try this from abroad. And, indeed, there are the good, the bad and the ugly. Usually, in the US, return acceptance is a very common practive, but nothing like a legally binding warranty as we have it here. Under US law, if you write that you accept returns, you have to accept returns. But what if they don’t refund your payment? No chance, if you are not in the US. So, buy and try is a good idea in the US, but again, I agree, not from outside the US. The reason to explicitely mention it, is simply that this is an easy way to get a housing and to hold it in your hands before you finally buy it (unless you are a digideep editor..., then you get it easier, I assume wink).
