Is anyone using the nexus housing for Nikon D200 camera?
I’m considering buying this housing. I have a S&S;housing now and it’s great, but I’m really tempted by the viewfinder, optical cable connection and wet lenses.

What is your experience?
Is the 45 degree viewfinder any good?
Do the Inon strobes work in TTL through fiber optic cable?
Do you get a lot more noise and/or chromatic aberrations when using the wetlens?

I would really appreciate some advice from someone using this housing.

Thanks,
Erika.

hi erika,

i am using the canon eos 30D in the INON X2 housing ... with 45degree viewfinder optical TTL and two inon strobes. and with the INON Wetlens.

i am very happy with the optical ttl and the viewfinder. both work very good. it is really a very reliable system and works just as fine as normal ttl. just it cannot fail wink so the answer is YES. it works very good with inon strobes.

the viewfinder also is very good ... you can read that anywhere in the internet ... probably thats also the reason, that many housing manufacturers are offering it now eith their housings (i think i’ve even seen it custom made on a sea&sea;).

the wetlens also works very good for a simple wetlens. it is not as sharp in the corners as the acromatic woody diopter for example. but still quite good. and much cheaper.

if you want to see some images, you can check my websites. all of the supermakros are taken with the inon wetlens. all pictures with the 45dergree viewfinder. and all images exept the wide with optical ttl. the wideangle is manual strobe.

greets, serge

Hi Serge,
Thanks a lot for your reply and the information, it’s really helpful.
I’m going to buy the Nexus housing with the viewfinder. Will have to think about the wetlens, I might get woody’s…

Your pictures look really great and very convincing smile

How do you connect the strobes to the housing for manual strobes, when you do wide angle photography? Do you still use the optical cables or do you use normal ones?

Erika.

hi erika,

i use optical cables only. i just switch from sTTL to manual on the strobe and adjust the power on the second wheel. quite easy.
have lots of fun with your nexus ... i’ve seen it already ... it’s a very nice housing.

greets, serge
