Hello all, Lurked here forever, love the site.
Now I have a problem. 2 dives on Sat using my SP350 and xd card. When I tried to download the picyures to my laptop. It wouldn’t recognize anything on the disk. No files shown, though in properties it had 480 MB of file usage. After fighting with it for hours, I defragged the xd card. SO now in properties it shows 9000 .chk file fragments and still no picture files. I know they are in there some where. Any ideas? I burnt the files to a dvd and reformatted the disk, and tried the camera and more pictures and they were fine after that. Popped right up in Oly master. Are the pix lost forever???

First and foremost (for future reference)- STOP doing anything with the card right away.  If there are issues and you are playing with the card it can make the items harder to recover.

Second, what system are you using, how are you trying to transfer the photos, how was the card formatted?

Did you get feedback that the pictures were captured properly?

You may need to try software like this

But it may be a bit late since you reformatted so it sounds like you may need to rely on the DVD ( if I understand your post correctly?)

Thanks Drew,
I used the Olympus Master 2 photo program.  I did burn a dvd of the card before I formatted it in disgust.  But there were are no directories or picture files that show up on the dvd, the 2 files that show up show the .chk files from the defragging process.  It has 450 MB of info on it, so I know they are locked into computer hell somewhere.  The pictures showed up on the camera with all the info as I took them, I have a card reader built right ino my laptop. I’ll check the program you pointed me to.  Thank you.

Let me know how it goes, really sorry about the photos.  One thing you may try is to see if there is another computer or OS to see if that helps see the directories
