Hi Everybody,

I am new to external flash and planning to buy a strobe , the choice now is Z240 or YS110 , could somebody give me advise on these two , which one is more suitable? Second, I was told that using optical fiber to connect between the strobe and DC , if I buy an original OF , how to mount its endings to the devices ? I checked up my WP-DC11 and can’t find any hooking area for the fiber . The last question , do I need to DIY to completely cover the built-in flash when taking the UW photo with strobe. Tks to advise.

Well, I can’t compare since I’ve never used the Inon, but I’m using a YS-110 and I quite like it.

With that camera I would recommend getting a different housing, though.  The G7 has a hotshoe, so look for a housing that lets you connect the strobe directly rather than using a fibre.

You are probably right on the Canon Housing , but the other housing like Ikelite is very expensive. I am still looking for proper material to DIY the mount base in order to hook the fibre in front of the built-in flash.

Finally I bought a used Ikelite housing from 2nd hand shop, no other accessory is attached. do I need to further buy a dedicated sync cord to connect non-Ikelite strobe ? thanks to further advise.

Yes, you need a sync cord.  Which one depends on if you get an Ikelite strobe or another brand.

For the YS-110 I use the #4118.1 listed there.

If you use an Ikelite strobe then you can use your camera’s TTL metering.  Other brands are manual.
