Hi ,this is the question, :
I just bought an Ikelite TTL housing for the Canon EOS 350 D, to this camera that replaced my old Nikon Coolpix 5000 I tried to connect my Ikelite DS50 and DS125, (the strobes were bought rispectively in the 2001 and in the 2002), with the single 4103 ( DS125/or DS50) and the double 4103.2 with the two strobes, the strobes doesn’t works with the camera, they fires freely without any syncronization
At the end ,what can I do ?
Put the strobes and the cords in the rubbish and buy new DS125,DS51(the DS50 is no longer in the Ikelite catalogue, replaced by the new DS51)and ,as well ,the new cord?
Or there is an alternative solution?

Take a look here to see if Ikelite can update the circuitry to TTL ($300 per strobe, not sure if you want to spend it)

You should also be able to shoot manual with the strobes which you may find easy enough to work with.  Have you tried the manual settings and are you getting the same issues?

Thank for your speed answer Drew, unfortunately Ikelite can’t update the DS50, the DS51 cost about 400 Euro, so I guess I’ll bought a new one, the only thing I can try is to put a tape to the hot shoe of the camera masking the for small pins and cross the fingers hoping tht it will works!

Do you you have a regular cord available to try manual?  I had some non-TTL Ikelite strobes (and also some non Ikelite strobes) that I hooked up to the Ike housing I have and was able to shoot manual.  The only time I had flash issues like what I think you are describing was on another housing with a short in the bulkhead.

Figured I should mention that just in case before you buy the new strobe.  A cord or trying manual may work and be alot less pricey

Definately worth dropping Ikelite a quick email to see if you can get it going another way (though of course new strobes are always cool )

I tried to mask the for pins on the hot shoe of the camera, turned both strobe and camera on manual, I took a couple of shots and where OK, then the strobe started to fire by himself, I tried again to turn the strobe off,i t worked for a couple of shots, then was the same story.
I put the question to the Ikelite , they replied. buy new cord and new strobe, I guess thy are right.
