Just purchased the Canon A710, and the canon waterproof housing.  Does anyone know whether it is possible to use a strobe with this camera, and if so which one(s) will work?
thanks

Hi Jim,

welcome to DIGIDEEP. A huge variety of strobes “may” work with your camera.

Generally the idea is to plug an optical cable to the underwater housing and read the
signal of you internal Strobe. Here is an example how that may look like, when connected.
I took the following picture at DEMA at the Fantasea booth.

There are other strobes which work similar from INON, Sea&Sea;etc. which you can compare
in our digital strobe database. Just make sure that you buy a recent one so it get’s along with
you cameras TTL. Also I recommend not to go for the cheapest strobe and spent a few dollars
extra. That way you might still be able to use it when you advance in digital underwater
photography and upgrade you camera and housing in one or two years.

Hope that gives you some directions for the start.

Andi
