I really have to start wondering about this contest.....

You can vote for yourself several times with a little computer literacy. It kinda looks like people are rigging the system here. Anyone else have the same idea?

How about a little honesty and a fair contest?

I mean “Rush Hour” & “Guardian of Coral” with the most votes? Come on, there are better pictures in this contest than those two...what about “Two of a kind”? --RS

Well, you can of course always argue that some guys asks friends to vote for them, or vote on themselves from diffrent computers. But the main thing about this “competition”, as I see it, is to get a nice weekly load of varied pics, showing amateur achievements in UW photography, and hopefully some facts about how they did it, as a stimulous for your own development. Furthermore, as the pics are also used in connection with the equipment database, they serve double duty. So keep submitting pics to the POTW contest - for the fun of it, and to share your experiences with fellow uw photographers. And stop voting on your own pics. You will always know that you did, and that spoils the good feeling…

First of all everybody is free to vote for the picture he likes most. In some cases I didn’t agree with the contest winners and I was a bit upset because my favourite didn’t win. But hey this are free votes and everybody has it’s own taste.

Of course there are some participants which vote for themselve or let friends vote for them, but we try our best to see if this is the case. Some of the participants have been banned from the contest already, because it was clear that they did a lot of selfpromotion. So as long as we are able to clearly identify that someone cheats we will bann them. [don’t let me explain how we identify it, because then everybody knows how to trick that wink]

I hope everybody understands this and I hope that this doesn’t scare all the other people, because we really like the contest and the way it grows. I really like to see how different underwater life can be. Because of the contest I have now a very long list of destinations where I really want to go.

Thanks to all the participants…

Something completely different; How do you like that mask you’re wearing?
It seems a little flimpsy to me, but people tell me they like it. I dive everyday and am afraid it might not hold under the pressure of continuous diving --RS

I really like it, because of the view angle. Its really wide. I don’t see anything from the mask. This is why I choosed it.
But if you really dive every day I wouldn’t recommend it. Its not that robust under certain conditions and I broke one already.

But for photography I like it really much. One drawback is that there are some distortions on the outer left and right edges due to the fact that the glass is not flat.

Thanks, I’ve had the same experience “view distortion” with masks that have side views, however I like the more peripheral view....

I might just get the mask for on the side.... for my own fun dives.
