Another sweet photo, Andy!!  Very nice.

Can I ask you how much your camera, housing and strobes cost you ?  I am toying with the idea of venturing into the DSLR realm but if I recall it takes a pretty penny to go there.

Thanks
Nick

Thanks Nick. I think the D-100 itself is now available for $1200 - $1500. US, the Light & motion housing is pretty expensive - I’ve probably sunk close to $5500.00 into it at this point with all of the ports & focus gears etc. But the Light & Motion housing makes it very easy to shoot & adjust stobe power etc. I’m sure there are cheaper ways to go than this—hopefully others will respond. I will say that looking at the contest week after week tells me that great shots can be taken by spending a fraction of what I spent ( a humbling realization).  I envy that you live in Indonesia & can dive all the time. I saw your webpage - great stuff.

Best, Andy

Thanks Nick. I’ve seen that you can get a D-100 for around $1000 US these days. I think I’ve probably sunk more than $6500 into my Light & Motion housing ths point with all of the ports & focus gears etc. From looking at these contests I know it’s possible to spend much less and still get great shots.( a humbling realization) But the Light & Motion housing makes taking shots and adjusting strobe power pretty easy.  All that said, it doesn’t look like you need much help, your pictures are great. I saw your website. I’m jealous that you live in Timor and can dive all the time.

Best Regards, Andy

Thanks Andy on the cost info for your rig.  The thing that frustrates me the most is the shutter lag that I have read is not an issue with the DSLRs.

The shutter lag restricts you to shooting stationary to really slow moving critters who give you the time to sit and fiddle with shutter button until the camera is ready to take the picture.

I think I will keep saivng up for a DSLR.

Hey Andi,

How about this:  If you buy me the housing and the camera AND bring it to Timor, you can stay at my house for as long as you want.

DEAL?
