Hi,

if you use a Canon DSLR underwater, speak English, and use it in an underwater housing please show up here and let us know the details about your rig. The idea is to gather something like a digital underwater photography usergroup that can share user experience and advice that is typical for this brand of camera and lenses. Of course third party lenses are welcome into the discussion, too!

So after an introduction of what this is about I think I can start - guess what: I am a Canon user, too!
I have experience with the Canon EOS10D, 300D (Digital Rebel), 350D and currently for topside a 5D.
I use(d) the last three cameras in HUGYFOT housings and the 10D also in a UK-GERMANY housing.

You are invited to introduce your rig in this space and bomb everyone with questions…

Looking forward to read that.

Hi,

After starting with the Nikon CP 990 in a UK-Germany housing I switch to Canon. First the Canon 10D,
then Canon 300D and now the Canon 350D in a Hugyfot housing with two Subtronic Alpha Pro strobes.
My favourite lenses are the sigma 15mm fisheye, the canon 17-40mm wide angle and the 100mm macro.

/lars

Hai Lars,

the sigma Fisheye is very interesting for me. Can you please post some photos of you to get a small overview?

Do you like this lense and would you buy it again?

Greetings,
Adrian

Danke Lars,

tolle Beispielbilder!

english:

Thank you Lars! fantastic Pictures… I think i have to buy this lense for my holidays in egypt!

Is it possible to use the Minidome or do I need the Superdome? Are there any quality problems to use the Minidome with the sigma fisheye?

Thanks!

Adrian

@Adrian: Instead of splitting this thread and making your comments lonely, I would like to ask you to edit your posts and translate them to English instead.

Concerning the 350D you are about to own, the 15mm SIGMA is the magic lens that will still give you 108 degree coverage on a crop camera.
Also it is possible to use it at F-Stop 2.8 and get a really sharp image with the small dome. Very luxurious and compact, I think. The small dome
on the Hugyfot housing is displayed in the picture with the exhaling diver in front of the schooling fish.

UDPATE: In our German Forum Axel Emken hast posted a great picture he did in Hemmoor (German Lake) with that lense and the small dome.

Hej i’m Kenneth from Denmark.

I have a 350D with a Nimar housing. They made a special domeport for my Sigma 10-20mm.
I’m hoping for better weather soon so i can try it in the water.
I also have a EOS 5 (not D) with a Ikelite house. (only 36 shot a dive)

For topside pic’s i use both Canon’s and Nikon F4 + F3

Kenneth.

Hi,

I feel pretty oldschool right now…

I have a 300D (digital rebel) in an non-TTL Ikeltite housing acompanied by a DS-50 strobe (okay but not enough power and angel).

My glass:
Canon 18-25mm EFS (Kitlens) -> ok but not wide enough
Canon 100mm Macro -> very fast and suberb quality but difficult to shoot (as stated before: http://digideep.com/go/forums/viewthread/6045/)

I had and will buy again soon: Canon 50mm Macro -> also very good quality and the best for palm-sized motives.

Just my two cent about my rig.

Best regards

Hi, I’ve just bought the EOS 400D grin and am hoping to get a housing shortly. What would be a good quality multi-purpose lens to start with?  What wold be a good strobe set up? How do you get all this gear abroad within airline weight limits?  Thanks.

Weight limmit is not a problem. It dosn’t weight that much.

Multi purpose lens.  I would say take two lenses instead.
A nice wideangel and a macro lens.

Where do you dive. Have you used camera underwater before.

I’m using my second digital compact at the moment, it’s a Sony DSC-W17, with a Sony Housing & a Fuji strobe. I had an EOS 1000S film camera and upgraded to the 300D when they came out, but only used it topside.
