I have a Canon S50 digital camera with the DC-300 UW case.  I have tried it a few times underwater with limit results (didn’t set the white balance)  It does not have a hot shoe but I would like to some how use an external strobe.  Is this possible?  I would like to be able to use the external flash on land as well for maximum versitility.  On the Sea & Sea website I was looking at the YS-25Auto and the YS-55TTL/E.  Which one would work better for my application or is there a better one that you could suggest?  How would I link the strobe to the camera to all fire at the same time?  Thanks,

Glen

Hi Glen,

the Sea & Sea YS-25 or YS55/eTTL are a good start to fight against
blue/greenish pictures wink. Basicly you need some sort of slave flash,
that uses the internal flash as trigger. This can be achieved by using
a fiber optic cable or even easier by using the internal flash itself.
But in the latter case the strobes will also fire, when some other
photographer around uses his flash as well.
There are other strobes from other manufacturers that work as slave,
  e.g. Inon,  Ikelite or subtronic.

A good overview of strobes can be found in:
  http://www.scubacam.com.sg/pages/Strobe%20Test.pdf

This article is an in depth review of some of the most used strobes and
  worth reading.

  Hope that helps to start.

ciao Lars
