Hi mjwestla,

There are 2 ways connecting the 2 strobes to your camera.

1. Using 2 adaptors

2. Using a 2 in 1 cable.

If you choose 2 Adaptors, you have more options getting nice lightning in your photo. E.g. you can give 1 strobe to your buddy and send him behind the Object. You also have redundancy. If one flash fails the other still works.

I have seen the 2 in 1 cable on ebay some times but it is nearly same price like a adaptor.

My homemade mounting is made by 1 L form Aluminium bar. I had to saw some parts out to fit better. Problem is, that there is still some 5 mm space between the mountingplate of the INON mounting base and the Alu-Bar.
I solved that by driling a hole in 2 plates of Aluminium that was left from the sawing and they fit quite well.

I didnt have problems with that so far. But i think you have misunderstood me, i also have a mounting base from INON specialy for my WP-DC 300.
The home-made mounting is just to get that mounting base to the Sea&Sea multistay.

Phil,

Did you use the red filter that fits this sony underwater housing with the w5 when doing the underwater video clips.  I have a DSC-w7 and am looking forward to trying it in the Bahamas in a few months.

If I may…  I’m a newbie too, but I ruled out the Sony W7 when I was looking for a new digital camera because it doesn’t offer manual white balance, wich is, in my opinion, VERY important under water…  especially if you don’t always use a strobe…

I opted for the Canon A620 wich has all the manual options I could want, and is really fast.  But if you don’t need much manual functions, the S series is good.  smile

Flo - I just returned from Belize and used a Canon A85/WP-30 housing and Sea&Sea strobe.  I thought the pics were great.  It also takes video clips.

One nice feature is an Underwater setting, that really kinda works in shallow water.  Send me a note at blomquistt@ci.boulder.co.us and I’ll send you some full 2200-1700 pics, and a couple of videos that you’ll get a kick out of.

One more thing, I think the cost for this setup is very reasonable, considering all you can do with it ...Ted

I’m in the same situation as far as selecting a new digicam.  I have been researching the Canon S70 and S80.  The S70 provides RAW capabilities.  The S80 does not.  However the Olypmus SP350 has great reviews. Not as compact as the S70 but offers more flash versatility, and camera options.

After my reviews of the S70 and SP350 I am leaning toward the Sp350.  I’m curious to get your feedback between the two.

I believe that Cathy Church utilizes the SP350 for many of her classes.  Check out her website.

Let me know what you think after you review the SP350.

Just sent this reply to the wrong person I think.  May be a duplicate.  Anyway here it goes again.  I’ve been researching the Canon S70, S80 and Olympus SP350.  S70 provides RAW capabilities the S80 doesn’t.  However the S80 has a few other interesting options that the S70 doesn’t.

I have decided that I want RAW capabilities so the S80 is out.  However the Olympus SP350 has great reviews like the S70 and offers what looks to be some more flexibility as it relates to Flash, lenses, hot shoe and some other options.

So right now I am leaning toward the SP350.  From what I understand Cathy Church Underwater Photography School utilizes the SP350 quite frequently for instruction purposes.

I would be curious to get your opinion of the SP350 or if you have considered it as a option.

Thanks
