Hi Idan,
some cameras detect the orientation automatically and store that in the exif
data. This is actually used to rotate vertical images straight away, but it can
happen that this plays tricks.. You need to check if your favourite image
browser rotates the images automatically if it finds orientation information in
the exif data.
As for the contest it is possible to submit edited images, in terms of color,
saturation, contrast correction as this belongs to the digital workflow. we do
not encourage to do so, because we believe that the it is always better to
shot the image perfect straigth away. But it’s is perferctly ok when some is
willing to spend hours to work on his image, if he doesn’t clone a single
snapper a million times just to get a school of snappers
