Hi there!
Last year I got myself a canon s70 with the WP-DC40 case. Imīlooking for an external stobe in the budget price range. Doing reasearch on this subject it seems that the Sunpak G-flash or Epoque ES-150 DS are candidates.

Does anybody:
-know whether they will fit the WP-DC40 housing?
-have experience, pros or cons about these products?
-know if the Sunpak can be triggered via an optic fiber cabel (to avoid backscatter.. on digiFish.nl it says that the external flash is triggered when light
from the build in flash bouces back from object)?
-have any suggestions on alternative flashes in low prise range?

Any commenst are appreciated!!
Thanks

we have almost the same setup.  I have an s230 with WP-DC600 and am also looking to buy a the slave strobe with tripod plate, and arm.

im searching for a sea and sea ys-15.  im thinking that the question we should ask is:

what are our options for 1 strobe + arm + plate set at this budget price range? :D

Hi,

Iīm using the Epoque ES-150 DS and overall Iīm o.k. with it, but with the Sony DSC-P12 the strobe does only light the picture correctly if you put the setting between 3-6, which means you only have about 30% of the power available. If you set it differently the flash either fires to early or to late (even though Iīm using a cable) and I have no clue why. So, this is something you should try out with your camera before buying into it.

For one trip to Thailand I borrowed the “SeaLife Reefmaster” (since I flooded the Epoque once again. I liked that much better than the Epoque because, you could see wether it is sealed correctly). With the Epoque this is really the biggest disadvantage. Sealing the battery compartment is really something for fine motorics and you can never really see wether itīs properly closed.

Anyway - if possible - you should try the different flashes on your camera and buy at least an 8 inch arm to be able to place it properly.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Marc
