I am off to Truk earlty next year and want to ‘guarantee’ the best pictures I can from the trip - BUT we are subject to severe baggage restrictions hence the compact issue.

I’ve had a Canon Ixus400 for a few years and have had some good results using;
Ixus 400
Canon 40m housing or Seal 100m housing when deep
Inon main strobe + Epoque DS slave (both fibreoptic fired)
Epoque .55x wet w/a lens

I have also recently bought a Panasonic TZ3 for overland shooting and it seemed churlish not to buy the u/w housing as well.

I love some of the features of the TZ3 and it certainly shoots better than the Canon overland BUT when you wind it back to wide angle in the housing it seems that you can’t then use a wet w/a adapter lens (problems of a 10x optical zoom I guess - by the time you are back on wide the lens is a long way back from the front port).

So:
The Canon was good in its day
The TZ3 is great overland and u/w without a w/a lens

But I really want something that will get good shots of the Truk wrecks so to my novice eyes the follwoing are important:
an extreme wide angle ability (via wet lens?)
good low light performance for natural light shots (neither Ixus400 nor TZ3 are brilliant here)
manual white balance (to minimise the need for filters)

Can anyone recommend something suitable?
* Fuji F30/F31fd/F40fd?
* a newer Canon Ixus700/800/900?
* any other options?

Ideally I would like to use my existing w/a lens although I may be tempted to buy a wider one eg Inon 100/135/165deg?

All help appreciated ....
