Hi,

I am interested in hearing how others travel with their gear.  Check vs. carry-on.

I just got an Ikelite Housing and Strobe for my Canon 400D.  I normally keep all my camera gear with me when I get on a plane, however I think it would be tough to carry-on the housing.  I am thinking that I will have to check the housing and strobe, but I will keep the camera and ports within my possession.  I am also thinking that it would be kind of tough to walk off with those large items, so this may not be a problem.  I bought a hard case with the equipment but I think I may return it because it seems too big.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

There’s a fairly extensive thread on this topic on wetpixel.  View it here

I don’t find that it arrives at a particularly consistent conclusion, but there’s opinions from loads of people who have travelled with similar kit to you.

Hope that helps
