I am trying tofix my SONY DCR-HC30 myself.  The LCD screen won’t come on when I power up nor when I record.  When I record there is no picture, just sound.  Has anyone had similar problems and how did you go about to fix?  The cost of sending out for repair is expensive.  I want to exhaust every effort to fixing myself before considering sending out.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know anything about repairing LCD’s or Video Cameras, however I am guessing that the camera is still recording video ?

If this is the case if you can take it apart without damaging it further or breaking warranty then have a look to see if any of the connection or wiring going to the lcd are broken.

did you get any warning this was going to happen .. like flickering or dimming or lines ?

I would guess that you have to send it back, but why is this so expensive is there not a dealer near by you can take it to and have them send it, is it under warranty ?
