I purchased beautiful G9 Canon and WP-DC 21 housing. Camere it self is “dream come truth”.
After a months of experiments I descided to go for external strobe. What can be combined with Canon housing? Should I go for “slave” or block the built in flash with optical cable?

Ikelite’s strobe packages that include the manual controller will work with your rig, as will Inon’s strobes with their fibre-optic synch cords.

You will want to block the camera’s flash from going forwards and hitting your subjects irrespective of the strobe solution you use - if you don’t, you may still get backscatter, thus defeating the purpose of the external strobe.

There are probably other strobe manufacturers that offer some sort of fibre-optic sync or a system similar to ikelite’s manual controller.

One of my students purchased a neat fibre optic cable adaptor that fits the Canon WP-DC21 housing, she purchased it from Yuzo at uwdigitalcamera.com in Japan, here is the link to it http://www.uwdigitalcamera.com/goods_detail.php?goodsIdx=248
Its probably the best method I have seen of attaching a fibre optic cable, it can also attach directly to the 67mm thread adaptor (for Inon 67mm macro lenses) which also fits this housing.
