Hi. I’m finally going to switch to digital from my MM Ex II after 9 years of taking pictures with it. I’ve focused on the the Stylus 1020 and the TZ5. I like the Olympus because of the 10 mpegs and the 3 u/w programs and the Panasonic because of the 10x optical zoom and the Leica lens.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these underwater? Thanks

Hi Gravlax,

and welocme in our forums. Why would you want 10x optical zoom
for your underwaterphotography rig? The picture just get blurry and
faded if you zoom in too much.

You should better zoom in with your fins wink

I am not in the compact gang anymore but currently consider
buying a Canon G10 with housing for my wife to play with.

Have you also considered that model?

Andi, thanks for the post. You’ve given me food for thought about the G10. Any thoughts on the external strobe? I’m leaning toward Sea & Sea because I had should good experience with my old strobe for my film camera.
