Gday guys. Have been spearfishing for a fair few years now and want to get into the video area. Im just looking for a good entry level HD camera with a cheap housing to match. Have had a look at a JVC GZMG630. Seems very cheap on ebay for only around $450, and also looking at the sony xr100 & 200.

What are some decent cheapish ones?? And am i looking around the right area at the cameras or are they cheap and nasty??
Cheers Ryan

Hi,

Not so easy to decide on camera’s but keep in mind !

The newest camera’s now all record the images on harddisks or memory cards ! Means you’ll have to copy everything again on other harddisks for editing and once done you still have only one copy as harddisks and memory cards will have to be erased for fuure recordings ! My advice if possible still to go for camera with tapes !!
Most important before buying a camera is to check if an underwaterhousing is available for this camera !

Important features on a video housing !

1/Can you put a red filter on it externally and if this is not possible can you put one on the camera and does the camera still fit in the housing afterwards.

2/Can you control manual focus ! Necessary if you want to film small things in a busy background !

3/Is there a external macrolens available. If not can you put close-up diopters on your camera and does this one still fit in the housing afterwards.

If more questions don’t hesitate to contact me !!
