Nauticam made its debut last year with a lot of very interesting innovations to the underwater camera housing market. The piano keys and the port locking systemare just some of them. Listing to their customer Nauticam is continuously trying to improve the ergonimcs of the housings. Nauticam's Canon EOS 550D housing is the latest incarnation of their efforts, which comes up with new ideas like the ISO paddle, the rocker lever for the (*) button and a new housing locking latches.
This years Epson Red Sea 2010 competition will start in April already. And if you already thought of participating in this years Epson Red Sea competition this could be your ticket. David Pilosof just spiced up the time until the 2010 competition with another small online competition. Between April and August photographers, both amateur and professionals can participate in a monthly contest to finally win flights, accommodation and diving costs for the Epson Red Sea 2010 competition.

Although Canon's new flagship camera, the 1Ds MK IV, has been released only recently, a compatible underwater housing is already available. Aquatica announces that their Canon 1DS MKIII is fully compatible with the 1Ds MK IV, which is considered as a blessed upgrade to Canon's pro line. The Aquatica 1DS MKIII housing is machined from solid aluminum, treated and anodized to military specification, ergonomically designed, carefully balanced, depth rated to 300 feet and most important - already out there!
Thousands of entries were submitted to the Our World Underwater 2010 competition, which consisted of seven stills categories and two video categories. The judges of the competition released a formal state, according to which the level of images submitted this year was especially high, easily justifying nearly $50,000 worth prizes, including dive trips, underwater photography equipment, diving gear and more. In addition, 15% of competition proceeds were donated to marine conservation efforts. Seems that even the sea wasn't left empty-handed!!
Each year, Beneath The Sea provides amateur underwater photographers and videographers with a chance to compete with their peers from across the world and to win some valuable diving trips and live-aboards (which are basically a chance to take some more award winning images!). The winners of the BTS 2010 Competition were now announced and include Yeang H Chng from West New York, who received the David Doubilet award for excellence in underwater photography, as well as many other lucky talents. The Epson Red competition has become a very popular event within the last years. It has attracted hundreds of underwater photographers from all over the world to the lovely Eilat, Israel. This year the event has been covered in a nice report by Sharon Rainis this year. Now, an print album with all winning images and some photos of the event itself has been published.

The Epson Red Sea 2009 event has started today in Eilat, Israel. During the next three days, photographers will be spending most of their time underwater, trying to capture an image that will entitle them with an opportunity to be called up on stage during the wining ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, November 14th. Prizes this year are valued at $80,000, not to mention international acknowledgement.
